Well, it seems that Earth isn't the only planetary object that has oxygen. And actually, they say that both methane and oxygen have been found on Rosetta! I wonder what they might find next on Rosetta?? :))

Scientists from the Rosetta mission have found oxygen in the atmosphere of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, a discovery that could change our understanding of how the solar system formed.
The molecular oxygen (O2) was detected by the ROSINA mass spectrometer, one of a suite of instruments aboard the Rosetta spacecraft that has been traveling with the comet since August 2014.
The revelation came as quite a shock.
"The first time we saw it, we all went a little bit into denial because molecular oxygen was really not expected to be found on a comet," said Kathrin Altwegg of the University of Bern in Switzerland, the project leader for ROSINA, the Rosetta Orbiter Spectrometer for Ion and Neutral Analysis.
"It does not sound that spectacular, but it is actually the most surprising discovery we have made so far on 67P," she said of the comet, which is about to pass the orbit of Mars.
Molecular oxygen is common on Earth, but it is rarely seen elsewhere in the universe. In fact, astronomers have detected molecular oxygen outside the solar system only twice, and never on a comet.
Oxygen is highly reactive, meaning it likes to bond to other kinds of atoms. Therefore, it was previously thought that all the oxygen present at the dawn of the solar system would have combined with the abundant hydrogen present at the time to form H20, or water.

And we see those such being shocked pretty often don't we??!!!
Yes, as to this day the "flat-earth" type thinking remans especially prevalent relative to what "we" think we know-or-think about every off-Earth thing, when most all of that "off-Earth" thinking is based upon "flat-Earth"-like assumptions.
The absolute truth is, "we" man, know really next to nothing about the explicit details of the expanse of the known Universe - basically simply what we can see or hear, through our various telescope systems. So, "SHOCK" events will be frequent, as the Universe continues to present itself to us, doncha think??!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's almost like the old scientists died off and the new young ones are starting from scratch.
Back in the 70's I was sure that by now we would be having regular space tourism to the inner planets :P But then it all fell apart and we are heading back for the dark ages..
Religious zealots, flat earth revival, all science is evil and nothing NASA shows you is real :P

What we once discovered is now suddenly all wrong. History... most of what we grew up learning NEVER HAPPENED :P No OK Corral, Custards last stand didn't happen the way we thought
They blow up a comet and get a second huge explosion jump around like little kidsin glee but have no idea what happened
