Dome sorta thing on Mars.
Interesting, according to AlgorimancerPG the "dome" is some 30 metres wide.
Ideas? Artificial or lava dome, maybe?
No ideas yet, but it looks like the rocks closer to the camera have a slightly different look from the rocks I am used to see on Mars, or maybe I'm now more used to the rocks on Curiosity's area than on Opportunity's.
This is a pic of an anomalous feature taken at too great a distance to really see it for how it really looks. But at the distance it does have a somewhat dome appearance. In a different pic I have found, there are actually 3 other smaller features along the ridges of this hill that likewise deserve some consideration. One of those features we can see just to our right of the dome - it has a white appearance. We can also see a 2nd dark feature far to the right of the OP dome, at the corner of the ridge. And then we can see (barely) a 3rd dark feature, as the ridge runs back from the the 2nd dark feature.
The original pic showing this dome is found in the Rover Opportunity Sol 4073 Pan Cam photos. The new pic i am referring to is found in the Sol day 4063 Nav Cam photos. The nav cam shots are not great for this either.
Here is a link to the additional nav cam photo, and I will post a shot with locators for the other possible anomalous features.

An update: UFO's spotted on Mars. Wondered about the circular object sitting on the ground, too.
There are also some photos of square openings on Mars on Disclose but I suspect ArMap would say they are JPEG anomalies.

Well, since much of this OP is relative to Mars domes, I thought it might be worthwhile to post a pic of a similar Mars dome that was presented here in 2012. For my eyes, it is clearly seen in a Mars Orbiter CTX photo, at high altitude. As noted in the prior OP, this dome is estimated to be about 400 ft wide, and about 350 ft tall (estimated on the basis of the width of a nearby crater, as determined from Google Mars :) ) This dome does show to have what appears as maybe 6 windows, in 2 rows of 3. Pretty crazy, as maybe also is the one we are discussing here.

Those black things appear in several photos, and whatever they may be (I don't know what they could be) they appear to be related to the camera, as the photos from the left and right cameras are taken at the same time and the photo from one camera doesn't show the same black things as the photo from the other camera, as you can see below, in the image from the right camera.

The person that wrote the text on that site needs to learn something about the Mars rovers, like the fact that there are more than one and that Curiosity (the rover that took the "UFO" photo" is not the same as Opportunity (the rover that took the "dome" photo), as they ask:
"Is this UFO in the same area as the dome? It's hard to tell from the photo."
Answering that question, no, Opportunity is more than 8000 km away from Curiosity.

That looks like a bad stitching job, we can see the seam between the two photos. As usual, the original photos don't show that artefact.

I'm not sure if that one was posted here somewhere or not, but I think it was. The "saucer" only looks like a saucer on that position, that is not the real orientation of the photo.
I'll see if I can find the other thread, if it exists.
