How to Remove Your Google Search History Before Google's New Privacy Policy Takes Effect

Quote[UPDATE 2/22/2012] It is important to note that disabling Web History in your Google account will not prevent Google from gathering and storing this information and using it for internal purposes. More information at the end of this post.

On March 1st, Google will implement its new, unified privacy policy, which will affect data Google has collected on you prior to March 1st as well as data it collects on you in the future. Until now, your Google Web History (your Google searches and sites visited) was cordoned off from Google's other products. This protection was especially important because search data can reveal particularly sensitive information about you, including facts about your location, interests, age, sexual orientation, religion, health concerns, and more. If you want to keep Google from combining your Web History with the data they have gathered about you in their other products, such as YouTube or Google Plus, you may want to remove all items from your Web History and stop your Web History from being recorded in the future.

You might caught the ats thread on clearing your google search history,  (http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread812805/pg1) but did you think too or know how to delete your YouTube viewing, and search history?

I didn't until Gizmodo reminded me.

Here's how:

1. Log in to your Google account.

2. Go to https://www.youtube.com

3. Click on your icon.

4. Click "Video Manager"

5. Click "History"

6. Click "Clear all viewing history."

7. Click "Pause viewing history."

8. Click "Search History."

9. Click "Clear all search history."

10. Click "Pause search history."

Make sure you do this before March 1st!!!

Thank you Gizmodo!

Make sure you click the link to Gizmodo above, they have nice pictures outlining each step too.

Hi Zorgon,

I assume Google will already have vast data about our viewing habits no matter what they may suggest.

However, do you suggest that it is possible or advisable to remove all related google history and not just youtube and google videos.

Some things I would want to have as favourites etc...but if it is becoming a major concern as to have to worry what info google may hold on us all and  what in the future that they may decide to release to future contacts...then this is no doubt a huge concern, so much so it could put certain people of
using the internet...

One would think that Privacy would be a major factor if it is to encourage anyone to consider using the internet.

If they start releasing information to social security , employers etc... then that is some what very disturbing.

I recall Alex Jones discussing this a few months ago.

Also they now have a kill switch for the internet, that it can be tuned off altogether if Obama or whoevers in power decides to do so.

No doubt Could be disastrous...

Guess it's time to build an "extranet" instead of the "internet"

I'm telling you guys, you will be glad you added this extension to your browser! It's amazing to see how many ad companies are pinging your info. This one even blocks Google.

There is something you all should know about some trackers... not all are evil :D

There is a site called Site Worth Checker... (there are several like DNscoop)  If you go there and type in a website address you will get the value of the website, the ranking and other info.

If people block the recording of all trackers, a website will not be able to count that person as a visitor and it will effect the ranking. The higher you are on the ranking, the more your website will come up near the top of a google search. Also the value based on these hit counts can be what helps you get funding

Now my website has no tracking neither does the forum (except the Amazon affiliates link) but because we link to hundreds or thousands of other sites when we quote sources, those links help us get on the page rank.

Currently we are at level 4 on google page rank. That means that sometimes an article on this site will appear above the original NASA article :P

Though the figures they show are approximate, the statistics do tell you a lot. In one case a rival site I have been watching has shown a marked decline in the past 5 months

Here is the site  http://www.siteworthchecker.com/  it can provide a lot of useful info
