Burns, Ore.- A protest in support of OR ranchers facing jail time for arson has escalated into an armed takeover of a federal wildlife building and an anti-government call-to-arms.

Dwight Hammond addressed more than 100 protesters who marched through the streets of Burns, Oregon to his house.

The protesters broke into the unoccupied refuge building and are now threatening to stay there "for years".

"The best possible outcome is that the ranchers that have been kicked out of the area, then they will come back and reclaim their land, and the wildlife refuge will be shut down forever and the federal government will relinquish such control", Ryan Bundy said, according to the Oregonian.

His father, Cliven Bundy was also locked in a legal dispute with federal officials in Nevada that developed into an armed confrontation.

Federal Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Beth Anne Steele told the Associated Press the agency was aware of the situation but had no further comment. The father-son duo were convicted three years ago of arson after prosecutors said they intentionally burned 130 acres of land, and their conviction falls under an expansive anti-terrorism law, the Oregonian reports, which means they have to go back to serve more time.

The case which sparked the initial protest involves Dwight Hammond, 73, and his son Steven, 46, who set fires that spread to government lands they leased to graze cattle.

Cliven Bundy urged the Hammonds to turn themselves in, but said in a statement that "the United States Justice Department has NO jurisdiction or authority within the State of Oregon, County of Harney over this type of ranch management".

In a statement issued late on Saturday, Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward said multiple agencies were trying to resolve the issue and he advised caution. He said Ammon told him the group was committed to staying in the building.

The hashtag #OregonUnderAttack is trending with 125,000 tweets since the ranchers first arrived at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday night.

"This is not a decision we've made at the last minute", Bundy added, calling on other militiamen to join them. Dwight served three months in prison and Steven served one year.

Cliven Bundy, the patriarch of a large Mormon family with more than 50 grandchildren, came into the spotlight in April 2014, when the federal government started impounding his 900 head of cattle, following a 20-year battle over cattle-grazing on federal land. "We have no intentions of using force upon anyone, but if force is used against us, we would defend ourselves".

Undeterred, Ammon Bundy said the occupation could last "years". The Hammonds maintain that they lit the fire to eradicate encroaching invasive plants and prevent wildfires. 'I will not disclose, ' he said.

Bundy and his brother Ryan were among of the Hammonds inside the refuge building, according to a report in the Oregonian.

"There was no sign of law enforcement near the entrance to the refuge, though an Oregon State Police patrol auto idled by the side of the road just outside Burns".

Check out the perspective of the local newspaper:
"The strangers carrying the whisper of danger arrived..."

Ryan Payne, an Army veteran and electrician, practices with his gun outside his Montana home in 2014. He recently moved to Harney County in Oregon to join other militiamen to protest the imprisonment of two prominent ranchers, Dwight Hammond Jr. and his son Steven. Payne and others want a local sanctuary created to shield the men from surrendering for federal prison, a move the Hammonds don't support. (Cathrine L. Walters, Special to The Oregonian/OregonLive)

Militiamen Gather To Prevent Jailing Of Ranchers (http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2015/12/militiamen_ranchers_in_showdow.html)

BURNS – The strangers carrying the whisper of danger arrived in the vast territory of the Harney Basin just before the holidays.

Ammon Bundy once helped his father repulse the government in an armed showdown on a Nevada desert. He was Tasered for his effort.

Ryan Payne, an electrician from Montana, joined that same standoff and boasted of organizing civilians into sniper squads that drew a bead on federal agents.
And not long ago, Jon Ritzheimer worried the FBI with his threatening rants against Muslims in Arizona and elsewhere, according to press reports.

Now, the men say, they are in Burns to help Dwight and Steven Hammond.

The Hammonds are father and son ranchers, due to report to federal prison on Monday. They were convicted in 2012 of arson for lighting public land on fire adjacent to their ranch land south of Burns. They have been imprisoned once and must return for an additional term after federal appellate judges said they had been illegally sentenced the first time.

AMERICA STAND NOW FOR THE CONSTITUTION BECAUSE IT MATTERS. - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m2UpdOxmp0)

Self-styled patriots and militiamen gathering in Burns don't want that to happen, declaring the Hammonds' imprisonment illegal under the U.S. Constitution.

They have latched on to the Hammonds as their latest cause to stand against the federal government.

"I am here now trying to empower and motivate the people of this community to take a stand against tyranny and show them that I will gladly stand with them," Ritzheimer said.

The Hammonds don't want to be part of the outsiders' cause, and neither do many in Harney County.

But that hasn't stopped the strangers from summoning help from militia groups across the country. They are vague about their intention and their plans, unsettling the community and putting law enforcement on edge. The militia plan a rally and a parade on Saturday, circling the county courthouse that houses the sheriff's office.

The militia members have been insisting that Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward create a sanctuary so the Hammonds will be immune from surrendering. Ward met with the militiamen and rejected that demand. The militia has since labeled him an "enemy of the people." Ward said he has received emailed death threats among thousands of messages from across the country regarding the Hammonds.

Two weeks ago, Bundy and Payne roused 60 or so local citizens to their cause at a community meeting. They rented the Memorial Building at the fairgrounds for the night. They taped themselves lecturing the locals on their rights, on the Constitution, and on their duty to protect themselves.

The Harney County situation is the second time this year Oregon has been the national rallying point for militias. Last spring, miners fighting with the Bureau of Land Management over paperwork outside Medford found themselves enveloped with militia defenders. Militia members eventually left – but only after claiming they beat back the government. An administrative law judge temporarily stopped BLM action against the miners.

But the activists carrying pocket editions of the Constitution with them to Harney County are better known for the spectacle in Nevada in spring 2014.
The BLM was the bogeyman there too.

Nevada showdown
Militiamen by the hundreds flowed to Nevada that year to help rancher Cliven Bundy. The BLM was corralling his cattle that it said were trespassing on public land. The agency said Bundy hadn't paid grazing fees for 20 years, amassing more than $1 million in bills.

Payne, an Army veteran, came to the rancher's defense. In later interviews, Payne said he was the "militia adviser" to Bundy. Payne helped array armed civilians against the federal agents.

"We had counter-sniper positions on their sniper positions.  We had at least one guy—sometimes two guys—per BLM agent in there," Payne told a Montana weekly, the Independent (http://missoulanews.bigskypress.com/missoula/freedom-fighter/Content?oid=2054145).  "If they made one wrong move, every single BLM agent in that camp would've died."

Ammon Bundy, Cliven Bundy's third son, was there too.

As the nation watched, the BLM called off the cattle collection and withdrew in the face of the armed militia. The Southern Poverty Law Center (https://www.splcenter.org/?gclid=Cj0KEQiA-4i0BRCaudDcrrnDi6kBEiQAZSh5fycoD4CVzcsnrTsci1CmfR7qsjz7NmMt1Oykt515H6waAnbw8P8HAQ), which tracks hate groups across the country, said in a 2014 report (https://www.splcenter.org/sites/default/files/d6_legacy_files/downloads/publication/war_in_the_west_report.pdf) on the Bundy standoff that the government's retreat empowered the militiamen.

Ryan Lenz with the law center was on the ground in Nevada and later interviewed Payne for the report. Lenz said the Harney County development isn't surprising.
"What's happening is very much what everyone feared would happen in the aftermath of the Bundy standoff," Lenz said. "The rule of law was suspended with the barrel of a gun."

Aiding the Hammonds
Bundy and Payne say they met with both Dwight and Susan Hammond at their home in November. Bundy said he helped the ranchers move cows one day.

The Hammonds initially accepted the militia's offer of help to avoid prison, Bundy said. But the Hammonds changed their minds after being warned by federal prosecutors to stop communicating with the militia, Bundy wrote in a blog post.

The Hammonds declined interview requests and didn't respond to written questions about their dealings with the militiamen. A Boise lawyer representing the Hammonds said in a letter to the sheriff that Bundy didn't speak for the ranchers and that they intended to surrender as required.

Document: Hammond attorney letter (https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/2660398-Letter-HammondRanchesInc.html)
Bundy and Payne and their associates are persisting, though. They explain in deliberate, calm tones their reasoning.

The federal government claims title to most of the land in Harney County, the ninth largest county in the United States. Bundy and Payne maintain that Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 of the U.S. Constitution limits what the federal government can own, and that the government's claim to much of Harney County violates that limit. The federal government consequently has no authority to prosecute the Hammonds.

Bundy and Payne, who said he has moved to Harney County, have pressed the matter on several fronts. They have insisted that Ward, the sheriff, protect the Hammonds. They have written other elected officials in the county and in Oregon asserting the same demand.

Some residents have shown interest in the group's cause.

Locals voted seven of their own onto a new Harney County Committee of Safety, including ranchers, a retired fire chief, and a tax preparer.

Payne and Bundy said the committee would decide how to address the Hammond conflict. But Bundy quickly created a website (http://www.hccommitteeofsafety.org) for the group and drafted a sharply-worded letter to the sheriff for the committee to issue.

Citizens on the committee said they authorized none of it.

Local dissent
Chris Briels, Burns fire chief for 24 years, said he was intrigued by the constitutional arguments raised by Payne and Bundy. But he said he also felt pushed too hard by Bundy to act. Briels said he is no anarchist.

The militia, Briels said, "seems like a bunch of people ready to shoot. I don't want that in my county."

Melodi Molt, a rancher and former president of Oregon CattleWomen (http://www.orcattlewomen.org), joined Briels on the new committee. She's troubled by what's happened to the Hammonds – but also worried about what her community faces with the outsiders.

"We're not from the militia," said Molt. "We're not going to come in with guns and overthrow the government."

The state's largest agriculture associations have vigorously defended the Hammonds since they were charged but want no part of the brewing militia action.

"I don't think people lining up in front of them with weapons or any kind of threats are going to help the Hammonds at all," said Barry Bushue, Oregon Farm Bureau (http://www.oregonfb.org/home/) president.

Billy Williams, Oregon's U.S. attorney, has also weighed in. In a lengthy statement to the Burns Times-Herald, Williams explained why the Hammonds were prosecuted. He then warned: "Any criminal behavior contemplated by those who may object to the court's mandate that harms someone will not be tolerated and will result in serious consequences."

Document: Statement by U.S. Attorney Billy Williams (https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/2660399-Statement-USattorney.html)

Payne and Bundy say it's up to local residents what happens next. If the locals decide to declare the county a sanctuary for the Hammonds, the militia is ready.

"We're sending the message: We will protect you," Payne said.

Such talk rattles the community, as has conduct locals blame on the strangers.

Tensions persist.
A Utah man tied to Bundy and Payne disrupted a state court session, insisting the judge empanel a special grand jury to investigate the Hammond matter. Federal employees report they have been followed around town and to their homes. Payne said no one in his group has followed federal employees. But he acknowledged knocking on the front door of a home featuring a handmade "Go Home Bundys" sign. Payne said he wanted to understand the homeowner's concerns.

Signs on street poles pronounce, "Militia go home!"

Others reply: "You are the militia."

One episode in particular has upset the community.

The sheriff said three militiamen and one woman, one with a gun strapped to his hip, engaged his 74-year-old mother and 78-year-old father at a yard sale being held at the American Legion. When the men criticized the sheriff, his mother bristled, and said she didn't need their protection from the government.

Later, the men showed up at the sheriff's office to complain about the exchange involving his mother.

She had, they said, threatened them.

January 3, 2016

On Saturday night, dozens of white, armed American militants stormed a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon seeking to take a "hard stand" against federal government "tyranny." It's a wild story. Here's what you need to know.

Q: Where is this?

A: The building seized by the militants is at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge (http://www.fws.gov/refuge/malheur/) — a remote, marshy oasis in Oregon's high desert famed for its spectacular migratory bird populations. The standoff is in the remote southeast of the state — far closer to the Nevada line (124 miles) and Boise, Idaho (217 miles), than to Portland (305 miles). The closest city is Burns, Oregon, population 2,800, 30 miles to the north.

Burns, OR - 43.600070,-119.053400

Q: What sparked the militia takeover?

A: The answer here is complicated. In short, the militants are outraged about a mandatory minimum sentence received for arson by a local rancher and his son.

The ranchers, Dwight Hammond, Jr., 73, and his son Steve, 43, were convicted of federal arson charges, stemming from a pair or fires on federal land near their ranch. The first was reportedly set in 2001 to cover up their illegal poaching of a deer on government property. It burned 139 acres.

The second was reportedly set in 2006 as a defensive measure, to protect the ranch from an approaching lightning-sparked wildfire. That arson reportedly endangered volunteer firefighters camped nearby. The government would seek $1 million in damages. (For a deep dive of the backstory read this piece in The Oregonian (http://www.oregonlive.com/pacific-northwest-news/index.ssf/2015/12/ranchers_fight_with_feds_spark.html#incart_story_package).)

Members of the Hammond family post outside a ranch building on their property in Harney County in this undated photo. Steven Hammond, second from left, and his father, Dwight Hammond Jr., center, are due to report to federal prison on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, to serve additional time for their conviction for arson.

Q: So some Oregon ranchers got busted for arson. Where's the tyranny?

A: The ranchers' case became a cause celebre in the patriot/militia movement because the pair were sentenced for their arson crimes under a provision of a law called the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 (https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/PLAW-104publ132/pdf/PLAW-104publ132.pdf).

And they were oddly sentenced twice.

The federal law in question doesn't just deal with terrorism. It created a five-year mandatory-minimum sentence for arson on federal land: "Whoever maliciously damages or destroys... by means of fire...any...real property...owned or possessed by...the United States...shall be imprisoned for not less than 5 years..."

The first federal judge to handle the case concluded that the mandatory sentence was too stiff and gave the pair far lighter sentences, which they served. But the U.S. attorney in the case called foul; the federal government took the rare step of appealing the sentence. In October 2015, the Ninth Circuit imposed the mandatory minimum, ruling that: "given the seriousness of arson (http://www.justice.gov/usao-or/pr/eastern-oregon-ranchers-convicted-arson-resentenced-five-years-prison), a five-year sentence is not grossly disproportionate to the offense." The ranchers are due back in federal prison Monday to serve out their five years each.

But this odd re-sentencing, under a statute that makes it sound like the cattlemen were being prosecuted for terrorism, inflamed the paranoid passions of the anti-government patriot and militia movements, and brought the militants to Burns for a rally on Saturday.

Q: The Bundys are involved in this, aren't they?

A: Yup. Tensions between Western ranchers and the federal government have been running at a fever pitch since an armed standoff between supporters of Cliven Bundy and the federal Bureau of Land Management.

[TFW NOTE) Notice how CNN infers that Cliven Bundy is 'an armed protester occupying Federal land' . . . same old, same old)

Recall that Bundy does not recognize the claim of the federal government to the land that his cattle roam in Nevada. He owes more than $1 million in unpaid grazing fees and fines. The feds briefly seized his cattle back in 2014, leading to an armed standoff that the feds chose to de-escalate rather than risk provoking another deadly showdown like occurred at Waco or Ruby Ridge in the 1990s.

Q: So Cliven Bundy is in Oregon?

A: No, but at least two of his sons are. Ammon Bundy appears to be leading the takeover. In a video posted to Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/sarah.d.sandell/videos/1112061878804653/), he declares: "We have basically taken over the Malheur Wildlife Refuge."

And this will become a base place for patriots from all over the country to come and be housed here and to live here. And we're planning on staying here for several years." Calling his group "the point of the spear," Ammon Bundy called on like-minded militants to "bring your arms."

Q: What do the militants want?

A: In a phone in interview with The Oregonian, another Bundy son, Ryan, laid out the militants' demands: that the Hammonds be released and that the surrounding federal lands be ceded to local control.

"The best possible outcome is that the ranchers that have been kicked out of the area... will come back and reclaim their land, and the wildlife refuge will be shut down forever and the federal government will relinquish such control," Ryan Bundy said.

He added, "What we're doing is not rebellious. What we're doing is in accordance with the Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land."

Q: Has the federal government reacted to this latest Bundy provocation?

A: Not yet.

FOR THE RECORD:
I am reporting this verbatim from the acknowledged sources because we all know how 'information' changes in these high profile volatile situations.

I feel that there will be an armed confrontation with law enforcement that will lead to Martial Law and the much anticipated civil war in America.

I truly hope I am wrong.

Armed Protesters Take Over Federal Building (http://edition.cnn.com/2016/01/03/us/oregon-wildlife-refuge-protest/index.html)

By Ashley Fantz, Joe Sutton and Holly Yan, CNN

Updated 0412 GMT (1212 HKT) January 4, 2016 | Video Source: CNN

(CNN) Armed anti-government protesters have taken over a building in a federal wildlife refuge in Oregon, accusing officials of unfairly punishing ranchers who refused to sell their land.

One of them is Ammon Bundy, the 40-year-old son of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy (http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/24/politics/cliven-bundy-interview/), who is well-known for anti-government action.

(TFW NOTE) See the set-up here?

He spoke by phone to CNN on Sunday. Asked several times what he and those with him want, he answered in vague terms, saying that they want the federal government to restore the "people's constitutional rights."

"This refuge -- it has been destructive to the people of the county and to the people of the area," he said.

"People need to be aware that we've become a system where government is actually claiming and using and defending people's rights, and they are doing that against the people."

The group is occupying part of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns after gathering outside for a demonstration supporting Dwight and Steven Hammond, father-and-son ranchers who were convicted of arson.

Prosecutors said the Hammonds set a fire that burned about 130 acres in 2001 to cover up poaching. They were sentenced to five years in prison.

The Hammonds, who are set to turn themselves in Monday afternoon, have said they set the fire to reduce the growth of invasive plants and to protect their property from wildfires, CNN affiliate KTVZ (http://www.ktvz.com/news/militia-takes-over-wildlife-refuge-hq-after-peaceful-burns-protest/37227522) reported.

The Hammonds have been clear in that they don't want help from the Bundy group.

"Neither Ammon Bundy nor anyone within his group/organization speak for the Hammond family," the Hammonds' attorney W. Alan Schroeder wrote to Harney County Sheriff David Ward.

CNN law enforcement analyst Art Roderick, a retired U.S. marshal who investigated anti-government militias for years, warned that Bundy's call for supporters to join him might "turn into a bad situation."

"What's going to happen hopefully (is) ... we don't go out there with a big force, because that's what they're looking for," he said. "The last thing we need is some type of confrontation."

He said that over the years, law enforcement has learned how to handle a situation like this; one that hasn't erupted in violence and in which a law may be broken, but there's no immediate threat to anyone's life.

The best approach now, Roderick said, is to wait the group out and to figure out how to bring a peaceful end to the standoff.

The standoff has prompted Harney County School District 3 (http://www.burnsschools.k12.or.us/site/default.aspx?PageID=1) to call off classes for the entire week, Superintendent Dr. Marilyn L. McBride said.

"Schools will open on January 11," she said. "Ensuring staff and student safety is our greatest concern."

(TFW NOTE: How convenient that all schools will be closed.)

'We are not terrorists'

After the march Saturday, the armed protesters broke into the refuge's unoccupied building and refused to leave. Officials have said there are no government employees in the building.
"We will be here as long as it takes," Bundy said. "We have no intentions of using force upon anyone, (but) if force is used against us, we would defend ourselves."

Ammon Bundy said that the group in Oregon was armed, but that he would not describe it as a militia. He declined to say how many people were with him, telling CNN on Sunday that giving that information might jeopardize "operational security."

The elder Bundy drew national attention last year after staging a standoff (http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/30/politics/rand-paul-nevada-campaign-cliven-bundy/) with federal authorities over a Bureau of Land Management dispute.

"We are not terrorists," Ammon Bundy said. "We are concerned citizens and realize we have to act if we want to pass along anything to our children."

He wouldn't call his group a militia, but others are.

"I don't like the militia's methods," local resident Monica McCannon told KTVZ. "They had their rally. Now it's time for them to go home. People are afraid of them."

What the protesters want

When asked what it would take for the protesters to leave, Bundy did not offer specifics. He said he and those with him are prepared to stay put for days or weeks or "as long as necessary."

"We are using the wildlife refuge as a place for individuals across the United States to come and assist in helping the people of Harney County claim back their lands and resources," he said.

"The people will need to be able to use the land and resources without fear as free men and women. We know it will take some time."

He did not explicitly call on authorities to commute the prison sentences for the Hammonds, but he said their case illustrates officials' "abuse" of power.

"Now that people such as the Hammonds are taking a stand and not selling their ranches, they are being prosecuted in their own courts as terrorists and putting them in prison for five years," Bundy said.

He said the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge has taken over the space of 100 ranches since the early 1900s.

"They are continuing to expand the refuge at the expense of the ranchers and miners," Bundy said.

He also said Harney County, in southeastern Oregon, went from one of the state's wealthiest counties to one of the poorest.

CNN has not independently corroborated Bundy's claims.

"I want to emphasis that the American people are wondering why they can't seem to get ahead or why everything is costing more and you are getting less, and that is because the federal government is taking and using the land and resources," Bundy said.

What the feds say

Acting U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams of Oregon gave a starkly different perspective on the arson case.

His office declined to comment on the situation at the wildlife refuge Saturday, but it cited an opinion piece written by Williams in the Burns Times Herald (http://burnstimesherald.info) last month defending the federal prosecutors' actions in the Hammonds case.

"Five years ago, a federal grand jury charged Dwight and Steven Hammond with committing arson on public lands and endangering firefighters," Williams wrote for the newspaper.

"Steven Hammond was also found guilty of committing a second arson in 2006."

The prosecutor said witnesses saw the Hammonds illegally slaughter a herd of deer on public land.

"At least seven deer were shot with others limping or running from the scene," Williams wrote.

He said a teenage relative of the Hammonds testified that Steven Hammond gave him a box of matches and told him to start the blaze. "The fires destroyed evidence of the deer slaughter and took about 130 acres of public land out of public use for two years," the prosecutor wrote.

Williams also disputed the notion that the Hammonds were prosecuted as terrorists, as Bundy suggested.

"The jury was neither asked if the Hammonds were terrorists, nor were defendants ever charged with or accused of terrorism," Williams wrote. "Suggesting otherwise is simply flat-out wrong."

CNN's Evan Perez, Kevin Liptak and Kevin Bohn contributed to this report.

Burns, Ore. (INTELLIHUB) — Heavily armed and well-equipped federal agents have arrived in Oregon from various parts of the U.S. to gain tactical advantage over the armed patriot group who commandeered a federal building Saturday, by responding swiftly and with force if necessary.

Additionally, political figures have been placed under an unofficial public gag order and were instructed to not talk about the situation. So far major mainstream coverage of the event has been limited.

It is important to note that if authorities really have issued a sort of unofficial gag order then they are most likely planning on a violent confrontation with the militia and patriot groups on scene.

Intellihub staff anticipates FBI agents, along with embedded members of the press, to arrive on scene sometime during the wee hours of Monday morning.

Grab a coffee, because this is soup-to-nuts.

Many people will awaken today to the news of approximately 100 to 150 armed militia taking control of a closed Wildlife Park Headquarters, and not know the full back-story – so here it is:

The short summary is:  in an effort to draw attention to a ridiculous arrest of a father and son pair of Oregon Ranchers ("Dwight Lincoln Hammond, Jr., 73, and his son, Steven Dwight Hammond, 46,) who are scheduled to begin five year prison sentences (turning themselves in tomorrow January 4th 2016), three brothers from the Cliven Bundy family and approximately 100/150 (and growing) heavily armed militia (former U.S. service members) have taken control of Malheur Wildlife Refuge Headquarters in the wildlife reserve.  They are prepared to stay there indefinitely. UPDATE

The Three Percenters Club Oregon
.

OFFICIAL OREGON RELEASE FROM TTPC:
.
Yesterday morning there was peaceful march and rally for the support of the Hammond's in Burns Oregon. The rally and march were a huge success, we had some people on the ground. The group was peaceful and it appeared that most of the town was in support of the peaceful actions of the march.
.
At some point a small contingent of Patriots broke off from the march and broke into and seized Malheur Wildlife Refuge. There are reports that the building was not locked, no hours of operation posted, and zero no trespassing signs. While TTPC Supports the Hammond's. This taking over a federal building we do not support nor condone. These actions destroy everything that the Patriot community has been working towards and show the Patriots in a negative light again. They fully diminish what was accomplished in Oregon peacefully.
.
TTPC will continue to support the Hammond's and if requested by the family we will move on their words. We will also continue to support Patriots going about this the right way and taking over a federal building in any aspect is not the way we should be doing this. People are going to wake me what's the right way my answer is simple......I DON'T KNOW......
.
The actions of these Patriots could very well put us all at risk. The government and the media can now portray us as the terrorist threat that they have been claiming for so long. Now they have something to substantiate their claims. There isn't one member of any group or a group ready to go on any offensive action. That being said you all better prepare and be training I fear the day we all pray never comes may be pushed upon us far before we are anywhere near ready!

FBI TO ACT AS LEAD AGENCY IN ENDING OCCUPATION AT THE MALHEUR NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE

Infowars.com – January 3, 2016
KOIN 6 NEWS IN PORTLAND, OREGON REPORTS FEDERAL OFFICIALS FLEW INTO THE STATE ON SUNDAY "TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE SITUATION IN BURNS WHERE AROUND 20 ARMED MILITANTS SEIZED CONTROL OF A BUILDING AT THE MALHEUR NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE."

The FBI is reportedly now working with local law enforcement to end the occupation. The FBI will be "the lead agency in dealing with the armed militants."

"These men came to Harney County claiming to be part of militia groups supporting local ranchers, when in reality these men had alternative motives to attempt to over throw the county and federal government in hopes to spark a movement across the United States," said the Harney County Sheriff Dave Warda in a statement released on Sunday.

"We are currently working jointly with several organizations to make sure the citizens of Harney County are safe and this issue is resolved as quickly and peaceful as possible. At this time we do not have any information that any other areas in Harney County are in immediate danger.

"We ask that people stay away from the refuge for their safety. We also ask that if anyone sees any of these individuals in the area to please contact law enforcement and do not confront the individuals themselves..."

Oregon activists picked the wrong battle, militia leaders say

Self-styled militia members who seized federal property in rural Oregon in an effort to galvanize opposition to the U.S. government appear to have made a tactical error - potential allies say they picked the wrong battle.

As armed anti-government activists occupied a snowy wildlife refuge for a third day to call attention to a land-use dispute, militia leaders from similar groups across the country criticized the seizure of federal land and a building.

The protesters have said they aim "to restore and defend the Constitution" to protect the rights of ranchers and ignite a national debate about states' rights and federal land-use policy they hope could ultimately force the federal government to release tracts of Western land.

Their occupation of the headquarters of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge comes as the number of paramilitary groups is on the rise in the United States, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a legal advocacy group that tracks their numbers.

But the latest call to arms appears to have failed to resonate with like-minded groups whose support would be crucial for creating a coalition of armed militia members substantial enough to thwart a law enforcement operation.

"There's a better way to go about things," said Brandon Curtiss, president of Three Percent of Idaho, a militia group that has been involved in the dispute. "If you want to make a change like that, you need to get the county citizens behind you to go through the proper channels."

The protesters have rallied behind Oregon ranchers Dwight Hammond Jr. and Steven Hammond, who were found guilty of arson on public land near their property. They were initially sentenced to 12 months in prison, below the federal minimum for arson, but a U.S. judge raised the sentences to five years.

The Hammonds, who turned themselves in as planned on Monday at a federal prison in California, have said they do not support the protesters or their leader, Ammon Bundy, whose father, Cliven Bundy, was at the center of a 2014 standoff with the government over grazing rights in Nevada that ended with federal agents backing down in the face of about 1,000 armed militiamen, many on horseback.

The Pacific Patriot Network, an umbrella group for militias in the region, said it did not support seizing federal property even if it understood the underlying frustration with the federal government. "This land use issue is decades old and it's boiling up in frustration. That's what you're seeing," spokesman Joseph Rice said.

The Oath Keepers, another paramilitary group that participated in the 2014 Bundy ranch dispute in Nevada, also distanced itself from the latest standoff.

'WISH TO HELL HE HADN'T DONE THIS'

Some militia leaders said Bundy was using the dispute to provoke the federal government with little regard for the local community.

"Here you have a guy who believes he's on a mission from God. What the Hammonds want and what the community wants is immaterial," said Mike Vanderboegh, a founder of the III Percent Movement, which draws its name from the notion that only 3 percent of Americans actively participated in the Revolutionary War.
Vanderboegh and other leaders said they worried Bundy would provoke a violent response from the U.S. government similar to the 1993 siege of the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, that ended in the deaths of 76 people.

Three Obama administration officials said federal authorities had been told to avoid a violent confrontation, in line with official U.S. policy after the deadly clashes at Waco and in 1992 at Ruby Ridge, Idaho

Armed U.S. paramilitary groups, which had been on the wane since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, have seen their ranks swell in recent years, driven by fears among the far right that President Barack Obama will threaten gun ownership and erode local rights.

The movement has also been energized by confrontations between ranchers, miners and federal regulators in the Western United States, where the government owns vast stretches of land.

The Southern Poverty Law Center estimates there are 276 active militia groups today, one-third more than before last year's standoff.

The latest incident began after militia groups from Oregon and Idaho staged a peaceful march in the nearby city of Burns on Saturday to protest what they see as heavy-handed management by bureaucrats with little interest in local concerns.

Other militia leaders declined to question Bundy's motives but said he stood little chance of getting the federal government to back down.

"If you want me to demonize this guy, I won't do it," said Bob Wright, a commander of the New Mexico Militia.

"But I wish to hell he hadn't done this," he said. (Reporting by Andy Sullivan in Washington; Editing by Jason Szep and Peter Cooney)

FBI preparing for Waco-style armed raid in Oregon... local schools taken over by feds as staging areas for weapons stockpiling in preparation for massive assault

Quote(NaturalNews) Natural News can now exclusively report that local schools near Burns, Oregon are being used as staging areas by FBI and other federal officials in preparation for an armed raid on the protesters camping out at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge.

This has been relayed to Natural News via TalkNetwork.com hosts who are on location and have independently affirmed the accuracy of this startling revelation. Pete Santilli, a talk radio host with TalkNetwork.com, is on the scene and broadcasting live from time to time at Talknetwork.com/live

The federal government is staging military-style weapons, tactical equipment and long-range observation gear inside at least one school, Natural News has learned, apparently contradicting the FBI's publicized claim that it seeks a "peaceful resolution" to the standoff. The kind of equipment being staged by federal officials is inconsistent with any "peaceful resolution" and looks intended to bring the standoff to a sudden and violent end with bloodshed caused by an armed government carrying out the mass slaughter of private citizens and protesters.

Most likely this equipment includes night operations gear such as PVS-27 light magnification optics that can be attached to existing rifle optics with requiring a re-zero, enabling federal officials to conduct night-time sniper fire on targets inside the compound. All signs now point to a night-time or early morning armed assault on the compound, with federal officials likely hoping to catch the armed protesters asleep or operationally disadvantaged by darkness.

An armed raid and slaughter by the feds would fulfill the insane calls for violence being heard today by irrational leftists like Montel Williams, just one of thousands of homicidal leftists who openly called for the government to slaughter the protesters with "shoot to kill" orders:

What about this part? Arson and killing herds of deer are pretty serious crimes.

Quote"Five years ago, a federal grand jury charged Dwight and Steven Hammond with committing arson on public lands and endangering firefighters," Williams wrote for the newspaper.

Gov't Tells Texas Rancher His Land No Longer Belongs to Him — He Knew It Was Serious When He Claims Official Said These Six Words

QuoteTexas rancher Ken Aderholt said he emerged frustrated from a Tuesday night Bureau of Land Management meeting in Fort Worth — full of many of the same unanswered questions and growing concerns about the land that's been in his family for over 70 years.

Well, it used to be his land.

Aderholt's family has been running cattle on 1,250 acres of earth in Harrold near the Red River, which borders Oklahoma, since 1941 — and he took on the task himself long ago.

It's his livelihood, and it's his life.

"It has been running through generations and handed on down to me," Aderholt told KAUZ-TV in Wichita Falls, adding that he's hoped his two sons could someday take over the family business.

But Aderholt said the federal government is threatening those dreams — along with the dreams of other landowners in three counties.

He told TheBlaze on Wednesday that the BLM has claimed up to almost half the acreage on his property — including where his home sits — after redefining the boundary line.

Aderhold told TheBlaze he discovered his home was in danger during an early 2014 phone call with a BLM official who laid out what acres now belonged to the agency. When Aderhold remarked, "That's gonna get my home," he said the official replied, "You have reason to be concerned."

And the rancher said he was instructed to list that among other concerns for future consideration as the BLM moves toward finalizing a plan.

Not that it's much consolation, since Aderhold and other land owners consider theirs private property — which the government "stole from us," he told TheBlaze.

And all this after years of paying property taxes and having a deed and title in hand.

"The BLM is saying we should have never had a deed to it," Aderhold told KAUZ. "That Texas should have never produced that deed."

Paul McGuire, a BLM public affairs specialist, on Thursday told TheBlaze that Aderhold's understanding of exactly what constitutes public land on his property isn't a done deal until a land survey is completed — and that the official Aderhold spoke to on the phone isn't a surveyor and wouldn't have told him what land was public.

McGuire added that disputes such as Aderhold's are coming up because the BLM began the process of revising land management plans in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas almost two years ago. The land in question has been federal for a long time, McGuire added, but never actively managed.

Aderhold could apply for "color of title," McGuire said, which takes into consideration improvements made over time on federally owned land and could allow him to hold on to it.

In the end, McGuire said, the process for determining what happens to the disputed land is lengthy and complex — a final BLM plan won't be ready until 2018, he said.

But Aderhold — who said his family has never been bothered by the government in over 70 years — isn't laying down over what he told KAUZ is "a land grab."

And it's a big one: After redefining the boundary to a half mile inland from the river, the BLM has claimed up to 625 of his property's 1,250 acres, Aderhold said.

At the moment the BLM is figuring out what to do with the land through a "scoping" process. Aderhold said the agency could designate the land for activities such as birdwatching or horseback riding or exploring foliage. Or it could condemn it. It also could lease it back to him — or to somebody else.

Whatever the outcome, none of it sits right with the rancher.

He said other landowners have banded together and retained attorneys. U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry from Texas' 13th district has introduced a bill to assist landowners along the Red River.

But in the meantime, Aderhold said the land claim has made life very difficult for him and other property owners — and far beyond simply losing their long-tended acreage.

Titles, Aderhold said, have become "clouded." Money can't be borrowed against land, properties can't be bought or sold and no improvements are being made.

"This affects people's lives — everyday things," he told TheBlaze.

A Recommended Honorable Exit Strategy For Ammon Bundy | Oath Keepers (https://www.oathkeepers.org/a-recommended-honorable-exit-strategy-for-ammon-bundy/)

by Stewart Rhodes
January 6, 2016

Ammon,

I believe you know that I respect you as a man of great, inspirational courage and conviction.  And likewise for your brothers.

It was your inspiring courage and conviction at your Bundy family ranch in Nevada that caused me, Oath Keepers as an organization, and many others to come from all over the nation, rifles in hand, to protect your family and back you up, shoulder-to-shoulder as you took a strong stand for your rights and for the Constitution.  It was a profound honor to do so, and it was a stand that will go down in history.

However, as you know, I oppose what you have chosen to do by occupying the wildlife preserve there in Oregon, specifically because it is not being done with the consent of the locals or at their request, without the request of the Hammond's, and without even their knowledge of what you were going to do, until you did it, and because it is not in direct defense of anyone.

The right way to go would have been to respect the right of the locals on the Committee of Safety to call the shots, decide what needs to be done, and to actually let them be in charge of all outside volunteers, including you.  You can certainly act as an adviser and instructor, giving input on what you think they should do.

And frankly, what they should do is simply going out, now, and use the land to ranch, log, mine, farm, etc, with our protection.  You can bet that if they did chose to do so, Oath Keepers, the Oregon III%, Idaho III%, Pacific Patriot Network, Bearded Bastards, and other hard-core patriots would have saddled up and rode, with distinct pleasure and joy in our warrior hearts, to protect the people as they nullified, used "civil-disobedience" and simply lived as free American westerners, ranching, farming, logging, and just living as if he BLM did not exist.  And we can provide direct, physical assistance and protection to back them up as they take such a stand.

But none of us have the right to make their decisions for them.

They need to have the stones to stand up, and if they do, we will stand with them.

But they MUST be in charge.

They MUST make that decision for themselves (and when they do, then we back them up 100% and then some!).   It is a fundamental principle of self-government, the consent of the governed, and self-determination that it is the people of Harney County who must make the momentous, critical decision to stand.  In fact, you said so yourself, during your recent town hall meeting on December 15, 2015, where you helped locals form the Harney County Committee of Safety.

You said:

"We have people across the United States that will stand with you, I've already explained that.  I'm confident.  But the thing is, it's not necessarily right, for us, or for the people, to come in here and to make a stand without the people forming and being in control of it.

That's what this Committee of Safety is.  It is where the people elect this Committee and this Committee is in charge of those that will come in and assist throughout this country, in defending the rights of this people and enforcing the Constitution.  And, I'm not going to dance around what we're talking about here.

We're talking about removing these unconstitutional agencies from Harney County.

And bringing the people back up to go ranching, logging, or whatever else.  But the people have to – you, you have to exhibit enough organization to form these committees of safety so that you can charge, and be in charge of the militia.   That's what it comes down to.  That is the proper way in which this is supposed to happen (emphasis added).

I agree completely with your above quoted statement to the Harney County Committee of Safety.  The people of Harney County do have the absolute right to govern themselves, and to be in charge of, and in control over, whatever is done to secure their rights in their county and state, and they have the right to be in charge of any volunteers from elsewhere who come in to help.

That truly is "the proper way in which this is supposed to happen."  But unfortunately, you did not respect that right.   Apparently, you did not really trust the people of Harney County to take a hard stand and were not confident that they would do so.  And while you told the locals that they would be in charge and control of their own destiny, you had evidently already planned out this armed takeover of the federal facility at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge and were already staging your outsider men and supplies in the area to do it.  All of this was done without even the knowledge, let alone the consent, of that local Committee of Safety.  The Harney County Committee of Safety is in now charge of jack squat.   And that is what you now have the chance to correct, with honor and integrity.

I propose that you return to and adhere to your own stated principles of respecting the right of the people to self-determination, self-government, and their right to stand up, on their own two feet, with our support and protection.   Therefore, you need to submit yourself to the authority of the Committee of Safety and the people of Harney County at large, and let them know, in no uncertain terms, that they are now in charge, and you will comply with whatever they decide must be done, whether you agree with it or not.   Even if you think the people there are not yet ready to stand, you cannot graft on a pair of balls onto a gelding.   The people must grow a pair themselves, and it must be their decision to stand, and meanwhile you must respect their will and do what they determine is best.   You can advise, suggest, and assist, but you cannot decide for them.

So throw your sword at their feet, and pledge and swear that you will abide by their decision, whatever it is, and defend them in doing whatever they decide is best, so long as it is ethical, moral, and constitutional.  But it must be there decision, not  yours.

That is the honorable, ethical, moral way to go.  That is an honorable exit plan.

I recommend you take it, and by doing so you will have retaken the moral high ground.  And then we can all pledge to protect any rancher, logger, farmer, miner, etc. in Harney County who has the physical and moral courage to take a stand, and simply act as their forefathers acted, as free Americans on the land, and we will protect them with our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.   Let that be our standing offer to any of the people of Harney County who will take a stand.   Let that be our oath, and when they stand, we will be honor-bound to stand with them.  And we will.

And when that happens, we will be acting with honor, and it will be the Feds who will have the choice of honoring their oaths by standing down, or violating their oaths by agressing against the people, and history will reflect who had the moral high ground and acted only in defense of human decency, liberty, and the Constitution.

That is the honorable path here.   Please take it.

For the Republic,

Stewart Rhodes

Does anyone remember a thread on ATS a couple years ago, a Woman said she was part of a construction crew hired to work on a secret project in Nev. :( She was foreman I think of some part of it electric related I think and said they had to be checked by electronic tags to go in to work, that tons of expanding instant cement like she had never seen was poured to make huge rooms and miles and miles of tunnels, the rooms had monstrous tanks in them but no one knew what they were for. The rooms she said was a wonder because they poured them and they were hard in a day (something like that)

They had vehicles running through the tunnels and everything was high tech electronic security.

No one was allowed to discuss and no one knew what the rest of the job was about. She said one evening when her and friends went out to a bar they met some Indian guys who said they had found something in a tunnel, all I remember was some kind of box and some pictures which included aliens a radio or something, they were to afraid to do anything with the stuff. She said they arranged a meeting and they showed it to three people including her.

So this is why she decided to break her confidentiality contract and talk, because she thought it was stuff people should know. Anyway she sounded young maybe a little immature but she seemed to have some details that were technical.

I can't remember if she said it was outside Reno or Los Vegas, I think Reno. Anyway she gave a ton of detail and someone found job orders for the job starting when she said and listing the professions needed and how many a .Gov paper. Then the thread was 404rd.

Since then I have thought about it and I think she was telling the truth as she saw it. The project was real the dates were correct for the hiring. Something big happening in Nev. maybe and they want all BLM land cleared of people.

I thought maybe they were just piping water from Canada to store for LV maybe but some of the stuff she talked about doesn't fit that. Wish I could remember better, maybe she talked elsewhere where it was not removed.

Maybe nothing as they were allowed to live in trailers and go out at night seems not to secure.

NOTE: On January 4, 2016, in response to media inquiries, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued this statement, on www.mormonnewsroom.org, about the takeover of the federal facility in Oregon by the Bundy brothers, who are members of the LDS Church:

While the disagreement occurring in Oregon about the use of federal lands is not a Church matter, Church leaders strongly condemn the armed seizure of the facility and are deeply troubled by the reports that those who have seized the facility suggest that they are doing so based on scriptural principles. This armed occupation can in no way be justified on a scriptural basis. We are privileged to live in a nation where conflicts with government or private groups can - ?and should -- be settled using peaceful means, according to the laws of the land.

Locals Rally Against Militants In Oregon: 'Knock This Crap Off'
The vast majority at a community meeting indicated they wanted the armed protesters to peacefully leave.

Residents raise their hands as Harney County Sheriff David Ward addresses their concerns at a community meeting at the Harney County fairgrounds Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, in Burns, Ore.

BURNS, Ore. -- Hundreds of locals from Harney County, Oregon, packed a fairgrounds building on a freezing Wednesday evening to urge armed militants occupying a federal building to go home.

But even though the attendees disagreed with the occupiers' aggressive tactics, some said they were grateful to them for drawing attention to the community's economic struggles.

"Let's just knock this crap off and go back to being friends and neighbors," said lifelong resident Jesse Svejcar. He said he disagreed with the protesters, but added: "I will thank them, if nothing else, they gave a lot of good people in this county a voice."

The meeting, hosted by Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward, opened with a prayer. The sheriff walked to the front of the room to resounding applause, with some boos in the back. He told the crowd that his deputies had been followed home, and his parents were tailed. He said someone flattened a tire on his wife's car, and she had left town due to stress.

"When I wake up tomorrow, I want to have pleasant thoughts about you -- that you did the right thing, that you packed your bags and you went home," Ward said of the anti-government protesters.

The militants, led by the sons of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, have been holed up at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, about 30 miles from Burns, since Saturday.

"They are desecrating one of our sacred traditional cultural properties," Charlotte Rodrique, chair of the Burns Paiute Tribal Council, said at an earlier meeting on Wednesday. "They are endangering our children and the safety of our community."

The occupiers claim the federal land belongs to the mostly white population of eastern Oregon, but Harney County was largely Paiute territory prior to white settlement.

Ward asked people at Wednesday night's meeting to raise their hands if they wanted the occupiers to peacefully leave. The vast majority did, with a rogue shout of "Let them stay!" Some attendees asked the sheriff to personally pass the message to the occupiers.

"I heard a rancher come in today and say, 'We'll send a hundred guys on horseback,'" said one man.

But the community seemed to have a complicated relationship with the Bundy brothers. Some shared the protesters' concerns about federal land access, and the imprisonment of two local ranchers. And ranchers seeking federal grazing permits and leases see the government as blocking their efforts to make a living.

"I don't agree with the way that this has all turned out," said Bill Winn, who said his family had lived in the area since the 1800s. "I do appreciate this being put before America. ... I'm glad those guys did it," he added.

The protesters have claimed the community is behind them.

"We haven't had anyone come out here and tell us that they want us to go home," said a man at the wildlife refuge on Tuesday, who declined to give his name. He said the protesters were getting food from locals, including hamburgers and jerky.

On Tuesday evening, Michael Stettler, from Christmas Valley, Oregon, said occupiers received six pizzas from an address in town.

The sheriff said he was unimpressed by the claims. "If one person gives them a Snickers bar, they're going on national media and claiming that the community supports them," Ward told Oregon Public Broadcasting.

Wednesday's meeting ended with no clear plan about how law enforcement and the community planned to move forward.  And at least for now, the occupiers were staying put.

"There is a time to go home, we recognize that," Ammon Bundy said at a news conference Wednesday morning. "We don't feel it's quite time yet."

Standoff in Oregon Attracts Supporters Bearing Disparate Grievances

© Ruth Fremson/The New York Times Activists at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon gathered around a fire last week. Various factions of the so-called Patriot movement have joined the occupation.

One of the people who have joined the Bundy family on a federal wildlife sanctuary in an arid patch of Oregon is an avowed anti-Semite from Ohio. One is an anti-Islamic ideologue from Phoenix.

Another is an online radio host — also from Ohio — who uses terms like "Obamislamistan."

Some are militant gun-rights activists, and one is a man who has declared himself to be a judge and plans to convene a "citizens' grand jury" in order to put the government on trial.

When the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge began on Jan. 2, it was primarily the work of Ammon Bundy, the former rancher, who wants the federal government to relinquish its lands.

But as the protest has dragged on, it has become a magnet of sorts, attracting strands of diverse conservative movements from across the country.

Some are members of the so-called Patriot movement, an umbrella effort of antigovernment activists that includes groups like the Oath Keepers, an organization of law enforcement officers and military veterans, and the 3 Percent of Idaho, which focuses on the Second Amendment and derives its name from the supposed 3 percent of the colonial population that took up arms against the British.

One of the 3 Percent group's most recent focuses has been fighting the presence of refugees in Idaho.

The local authorities, as well as many local residents, have made it clear that they would like them all to leave.

At first, the logic behind the conflict seemed coherent: The Bundy brothers, sons of the Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, who made national news two years ago by facing down the government over cattle-grazing fees, wanted the federal government to turn its land holdings over to private citizens and local control. In recent days, however, the protest has metastasized and started drawing a motley cast of fellow travelers.

Some are staying in the rural town of Burns, which is 30 miles from the wildlife sanctuary and the nearest community of any size, and others have shown up at the refuge, armed with their own ideas and weapons.

"When you have a high-profile event like this, lots of people want to get in on the action," said Mark Pitcavage, the senior research fellow for the Anti-Defamation League's Center on Extremism. "It has the ability to draw all sorts out of the woodwork."

Among them is David Fry, a 27-year-old Ohioan who has regularly posted homophobic and anti-Semitic messages on social media. Jon Ritzheimer, who is also camped out with the Bundys, is a Marine veteran from Arizona who drew national attention in May when he organized an anti-Islam protest at a mosque in Phoenix; the mosque had been attended by a pair of Muslim men who opened fire earlier that month at a "Draw Mohammad" contest in Garland, Tex.

There was also Pete Santilli, the conservative host of "The Pete Santilli Show," who roamed about the refuge with a camera on a stick, cheering occupiers and heckling journalists.

Mr. Santilli spoke on his online radio show last spring about a "battle between heterosexuals and homosexuals" and once drew scrutiny from the Secret Service after saying he wanted to shoot Hillary Clinton.

At Malheur, he is working alongside people like Bruce Doucette, a computer technician who reportedly plans to seek indictments against federal officials and describes himself as a United States Superior Court judge — even though no such office exists.

"What we're seeing is an amalgamation of a lot of different and disparate strands of the extremist movement converging in one place," said Ryan Lenz, a senior writer for the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks and studies extremist groups. "Although they all have slightly separate agendas, they've come together in Oregon because of the same intense resentment of the government."

According to Mr. Pitcavage, who has written an analysis of the philosophies behind the occupation, about a third of the protesters in Oregon were motivated, like the Bundys, by land-use issues that have bedeviled the West since the Sagebrush Rebellion of the 1970s.

The rest, he said, were drawn from various factions of the Patriot movement.

This coalition first emerged, Mr. Pitcavage said, in the crucible of the Bundy ranch standoff in 2014, during which a group of volunteer gunmen assumed positions on a highway near the town of Bunkerville, Nev., and chased off agents from the federal Bureau of Land Management who wanted to collect grazing fees from Cliven Bundy.

"Before the Bundy ranch, I'd be hard pressed to think of something similar," Mr. Pitcavage said. "It was the first major example of militiamen and Sagebrush Rebellion types spending time together and getting to know each other personally. It set the stage for what's happening today."

Some people who have studied such movements say the Oregon occupation's new recruits have been encouraged by the inaction of the federal government, which has largely left the matter to be handled by the county sheriff, David Ward.

The federal authorities have so far avoided any confrontation with the occupiers, wary of provoking a shootout.

"There's no question that there is now a brand of success associated with Bundy family standoffs," said Tarso Ramos, the executive director of Political Research Associates, a think tank that studies right-wing movements. "And the success of this standoff in surviving so far has emboldened factions that once decried the effort to act in a more confrontational manner."

Mr. Ramos pointed to the Oath Keepers, whose president, Stewart Rhodes, issued a statement during the first week of the standoff saying his group would not get involved. Mr. Rhodes later changed course, announcing that he would send an Oath Keeper team to Oregon, albeit without long guns or camouflage gear and only to "keep the peace."

The Oath Keepers are staying in Burns, not at the wildlife refuge. Well before this protest began, Mr. Ritzheimer and Mr. Rhodes had a public falling out.

Not everyone agreed that a muted federal response had fueled the growth of the occupation. Mr. Pitcavage argued that if the government had cracked down on the Bundys, as it did at conflicts in Waco, Tex., and Ruby Ridge, Idaho, it could easily "draw attention to the effort and draw more people like a magnet."

Nor was everyone in Oregon there because of an antigovernment agenda.

"I do not understand the culture," said Kristi Jernigan, 44, from Tennessee, who was among the women in the compound's kitchen feeding the occupation. Ms. Jernigan said she had little interest in politics and had arrived only "to spread love."

"You'd be surprised at all the different people here," she said.

Oregon militia seen rifling through Native American artifacts at refuge

The militiamen stationed at a federal wildlife refuge in eastern Oregon are now rummaging through artifacts and documents of the Paiute tribe, sparking outrage among local Native Americans whose ancestors originally occupied the land.

LaVoy Finicum, one of the leaders of the armed protesters occupying the Malheur national wildlife refuge, posted a video of himself inside a government building looking through cardboard boxes of papers and other items associated with the local tribe – and inviting Paiute leaders to meet with the militia and reclaim their belongings.

"We want to make sure these things are returned to their rightful owner," said Finicum, who recently helped destroy a US Fish and Wildlife Service fence and remove cameras that he claimed the government was using for surveillance.

The rightwing militia, led by Ammon Bundy, took over the headquarters of the wildlife sanctuary on 2 January to protest the government's land-use regulations in rural Harney County. They have demanded that local ranchers have control of public lands – not the federal government.

But days after the occupation began, leaders of the federally recognized Paiute Indian tribe in Burns, the town closest to the refuge, decried the armed occupation, pointing out that the out-of-state militiamen were trying to claim sacred lands that are part of the tribe's ancestral territory.

The new video, posted on Wednesday night, has only further enraged tribal leaders who recently called on law enforcement officials to protect native cultural resources at the refuge and to criminally prosecute the militiamen.

"I feel disrespected that they're even out there," said Jarvis Kennedy, the tribal council's sergeant-at-arms. Kennedy said he was too upset to watch all of Finicum's video. "It's like me going through their drawers at their house."

Tribe leaders and federal officials say the refuge stores confidential documents and thousands of historic artifacts, such as baskets, spears, tools and beads. The refuge is also home to Paiute burial grounds, making the militia's recent decision to pave a road through the refuge particularly alarming.

"I could go to the Bundys where his grandparents are buried," Kennedy said. "How would they feel if I drove over their grave and went through their heirlooms?"

In his video, Finicum said that he was showing how the wildlife refuge has done a poor job maintaining the artifacts and keeping storage rooms clean. "This needs to be taken care of, and so we're reaching out to the Paiute people in the sincerest manner as we can," he said on camera. "Let's make sure that we take care of the heritage of the Native American people."

Added militia member Blaine Cooper: "The rightful owners need to come back and claim their belongings."

But Kennedy said the tribe has a good relationship with refuge officials and noted that the Paiute people refuse to communicate with militia leaders or visit the occupation.

"I'm not going to give them the satisfaction of meeting with them," Charlotte Rodrique, chairwoman of the Burns Paiute tribe, told the Guardian last week.

Kennedy noted that the militiamen have had no trouble leaving and returning to the refuge and feared one of them might damage or steal their artifacts and documents. "All the stuff they are doing out there, it's like a crime scene," he said. "Once this is done, we'll see what's missing."

Dear Armed Protesters: Your Little Occupation Is Very Expensive
The takeover is costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, the Oregon governor says

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Ammon Bundy, left, approaches an FBI gate at the Burns Municipal Airport in Oregon on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016. Bundy is the leader of an armed group occupying a national wildlife refuge to protest federal land policies. The stunt hasn't come cheap.

WASHINGTON -- Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) this week urged federal authorities to do something about the armed protesters wreaking havoc in the state's rural community of Harney County. The militants are costing the state about $100,000 per week, she said, a staggering sum given the occupation's small size. That cost doesn't include salaries paid to federal employees who can't work, or the fence protesters ripped apart with a stolen government excavator.

Militants took over the headquarters of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, which is about 30 miles from the town of Burns, on Jan. 2. The group includes the sons of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, and they're a small, ragtag operation. During the first week, only a handful of non-reporters could be seen wandering the refuge grounds at any one time. Later, a horse named Hellboy showed up. Occupiers have quit their jobs and lost their children, and they collect food donations, including soup and jerky.

They are protesting the imprisonment of two local ranchers, as well as land stewardship by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. Some locals share their concerns, but the community has taken issue with the militants' tactics and repeatedly asked them to go home. The occupiers have refused, and the community is now stuck with a staggering bill.

Multiple law enforcement entities are helping the local sheriff keep the peace. (Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward said that deputies have been followed home, and someone flattened a tire on his wife's car.) The $100,000 per week represents the costs of labor, including overtime, travel reimbursement, lodging and meals for those personnel, said Kristen Grainger, a spokeswoman for Gov. Brown.

"This approach is not sustainable," she added.

Earlier this month, Harney County Judge Steven Grasty broke down the costs in more detail. He said that during the first week of the occupation, school closures due to safety concerns cost the community over $35,000 per day. He added that at least 13 officers were working overtime, and money also went to setting up a command center for federal and local law enforcement.

"My fear is we've got a good community with good people, and we've got crazies who have come in here and they're undoing us," Grasty said.

The Bureau of Land Management office in Burns, which covers about 120 permanent and temporary employees, closed over safety concerns when the occupation started. From then until Jan. 8, the government spent $125,000 in administrative leave costs, because employees were unable to work or were teleworking. The office remains closed, and those costs have continued to rise, a BLM spokesperson said.

The occupation has likely racked up other costs as well. The protesters have vowed not to disturb the refuge, but they have nonetheless destroyed part of a fence, pawed through artifacts belonging to the Paiute tribe and been accused of using government vehicles.

Someone has to pay for all this stuff. Cliven Bundy already owes more than $1 million in unpaid grazing fees. His son, Ammon Bundy, has started talking to federal authorities, but it's not yet clear what charges he and the other protesters may face. Federal law makes it a felony, with a sentence of up to 10 years, for anyone who "converts to his use" government property worth over $1,000 without authorization. Individuals convicted of crimes also generally pay restitution to victims. Ammon Bundy did not immediately return a Facebook message seeking comment on the price of the occupation.

The Bureau of Land Management is keeping its legal options open, a spokesperson said. Brown is seeking an appropriation during the February 2016 legislative session, and will pursue strategies for federal reimbursement of the state's expenses. Earlier this month, Grasty said that he planned to send the occupiers a personal invoice. The bill would be symbolic, but he hoped it would raise awareness.

"The world is going to know what this cost," he said.

One question....

Where is the refuge in relation to the schools they had to shut down for safety?

Why did they have to shut down the schools since no one is making any threats against the community

13 offiders getting over time and travel expenses   can't do their work?  WTF? Are they not there keeping the peace and is that not what they get paid for?

I think they need to end this and go home. It is NOT getting desired resukts and the media spins is just undoing all the good they did at Bundy Ranch. They are fast losing the support of the average people...

They made their point  end it now and return to fight another day

As I suggested to the Bundys ....these should be blessed by the Creator, and offered to the Paiute Nation as a Peace offering.

Just my opinion......My respect to the Honorable Paiute Nation....this is my offering to you in and for peace and love between us. We are not your enemy. Native American artifacts found at refuge buried in filth and rodent droppings.

With a heavy heart we bring you this report of horrible conditions for objects of native cultural heritage being treated with disrespect. Contrary to reports by main stream media who have accused the Refuge protesters of allegedly desecrating Native American objects, this report should prove once and for all that it is the US Federal Government bureaucracy that is responsible for that and far worse.

These objects are dated stored and tagged for 35 years or more.

Oregon Native American Paiute To Armed Bundy Militia Members — 'The Land Was Stolen From Us, Not You'

JohnThomas Didymus

Speaking in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday at the tribe's reservation meeting house, Charlotte Rodrique, chairwoman of the Burns Paiute Tribe, criticized the armed militia members; and referring to ongoing dispute between the Northern Paiute tribe and the federal government over land and water resources, Rodrique commented that the armed militia members appeared to have overlooked the fact that "there was never an agreement that we [the Paiute] were giving up this land."

"We were dragged out of here," she said.

However, she noted that despite the fact that they had owned the land in the western Oregon mountains long before any European set foot in North America, they have preferred a "less adversarial approach" than the armed militia members on whose behalf the federal government "stole" the land after President Ulysses Grant established the Malheur Indian Reservation for the Northern Paiute in 1872.

"I just think they [the armed militia members] are a bunch of glory hounds. Look at us, look at what we're doing. I don't give much credence to their cause," she said.

Tribe Denounces Malheur Refuge Occupation

Burns Paiute tribe chair Charlotte Rodrique addresses reporters during a press conference in response to the armed occupation of the nearby Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Burns, Ore., Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016. A leader of the Oregon Indian tribe whose ancestral property is being occupied by an armed group opposed to federal land policy said Wednesday that the group is not welcome and needs to leave.

Manuel Valdes/AP

The Burns Paiute Tribe has denounced the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Headquarters.

Tribal council members said Wednesday the militants are desecrating sacred traditional property and need to leave. The 190,000 acre wildlife refuge is within the Paiute tribes' ancestral territory in Southeast Oregon.

"Armed protesters don't belong here.  By their actions, they are endangering one of our sacred sites," said tribal Chair Charlotte Rodrique.

Rodrique said she told a friend she was offended by the militants' notion that they could return the refuge lands to their rightful owners.

"I'm sitting here trying to write an acceptance letter for when they return all this land to us," Rodrique said.

"What if it was a bunch of natives that went out there and overtook that? Would they let us come into town and get supplies?" said Council member Jarvis Kennedy. "They just need to get the hell out of here. We don't want them here."

Ammon Bundy was asked about the tribe's comments at a press conference at the wildlife refuge Wednesday.

"That is interesting," Bundy said, responding to a reporter's question. "They have rights as well. I would like to see them be free from the federal government as well. They're controlled and regulated by the federal government very tightly and I think they have a right to be free like everybody else."

The council said the tribe sees the wildlife federal managers of the refuge as good partners.

"We look at them as a protector of our cultural sites in that area," Rodrique said.  She expressed concerns about the cultural artifacts in the refuge.

The Burns Paiute Reservation consists of about 1,000 acres near Burns. There are 420 enrolled members of the tribe, about half of whom live on the reservation. The location of the refuge was a wintering ground for the Paiute people before white settlers arrived.

Rodrique describes the militants as "ramrodding their way through things and possibly being destructive."

"This is still our land, no matter who is living on it," Rodrique said.

She said she had not spoken directly to the Bundys.

"I wouldn't dignify them with a meeting," she said.

Rodrique thinks law enforcement should cut the power to the refuge headquarters and wait out the occupiers.

Burns Paiute Tribe: Militants need to get off 'our land'

BURNS PAIUTE RESERVATION — Leaders of the Burns Paiute Tribe on Wednesday called on militants occupying a federal wildlife compound to end their standoff.

In a press conference, the tribal council sought to educate the public about their own painful history with the federal government. The militants, they said, are only making things worse for everyone in Harney County.

"They just need to get the hell out of here," said Jarvis Kennedy, a member of the tribal council. "They didn't ask anybody, we don't want them here...our little kids are sitting at home when they should be in school."

The group of 20 or so militants, led by right-wing activists Ammon Bundy and his two brothers, seized the refuge headquarters on Saturday.

The Paiute Tribe once occupied a large swath of land that includes the Malheur National Wildlife refuge — archaeological evidence dates back 6,000 years — but they were forced out in the late 1870s. Before settlers arrived, the tribe used it as a wintering ground, said Charlotte Rodrique, the tribal chair.

"We as a tribe view that this is still our land no matter who's living on it," Rodrique said.

'They just need to get the hell out of here' says Burns Paiute tribal council member

In a press conference the morning of Wednesday, January 6, 2015, the Burns Paiute tribal council sought to educate the public about their own painful history with the federal government. The militants, they said, are only making things worse for everyone in Harney County. "They just need to get the hell out of here," said Jarvis Kennedy, a member of the tribal council.

In 1868, the tribe signed a treaty with the federal government that requires the government to protect natives' safety. According to the tribe, the federal government promised to prosecute "any crime or injury perpetrated by any white man upon the Indians."

Rodrique said the tribe never ceded its rights to the land. It works with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to preserve archaeological sites.

"We feel strongly because we have had a good working relationship with the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge," she said. "We view them as a protector of our cultural rights in that area."

About 200 people live in the Burns Paiute Reservation, located 30 miles from the refuge headquarters. The tribe owns 11,000 acres of land nationwide, Rodrique said.

The tribal council met with archaeologists at the refuge Tuesday. Tribal leaders said they're worried the militants could damage archaeological sites.

Although the tribe says it's pleased with the federal government's response so far, some wondered aloud whether nonwhite militants would be given such passive treatment.

"I wonder if it was bunch of natives that went out there and overtook that, or any federal land," Kennedy said. "Would they let us come into town and get supplies and re-up?"

— Ian K. Kullgren

............so maybe the tribe and the two guys they say they were standing up for should have been ask for THEIR opinion in this first...

like I said.. ya gotta pick your battles or you just look stupid

QuoteConstitution is all Our Rights to Live Under The lord as Free Men and Women not under Slavery of any Man's Power

does that not under any man's include  - not under bundy's idea ?
is this a case of my rights can stomp on your rights by one party taking over the property of the people by proclaiming that they are protecing two other parties who don't want to be protected?

bundy may have had a case for his own space and he and his group got massive support
but in my opinion this was a stupid move and not only did he loose credibility  - he lost the sympathy of the masses

oh yeah you might want to read that again as there is no mention of living under the lord anywhere in it  just that you can worship in any way you want..kinda different

ok I was wrong.. there is no mention of any gods or lords in there

but we are referencing the same place..how cool we agree on something ;D

SILLY PAIUTES :P

ARE THEY NOW NOW AMERICANS?

So the Federal government is still stealling their lands

What is worse  Take a look at Mineral Collecting..

It has long been considered a RECREATIONAL LAND USE in keeping with the guidelines of the land management.

San Gabriel Mountains National Monument

Obama Administration has decided to make that area a National Monument. It has long been a popular collecting areas for families

You may want to read the following posts, given that the Obama administration changed the land status of the San Gabriel Mts, including the Cascade Canyon area.

http://www.mindat.org/forum.php?read,5,337390,340172

The difference between National Park and National Monument designation is largely in the manner in which it is designated in the political sphere, not how it is managed.

Management of both entities are by in large considered one and the same, so you can assume that any activities not permitted in a National Park, is equally not permitted in an area designated as a National Monument. As I understand it, Unlike National Parks, management of National Monuments may fall under any number of agencies including the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management, so direct prohibition of recreational mineral collecting is likely to be an unstated prohibition. Mining activity is however a stated prohibition, so you can probably assume that recreational mineral collecting may likely fall into the same category, depending on which agency manages it and has it's say on the matter.

There may still be room for debate on permission for recreational mineral collecting in the areas not already designated as National Parks, but I wouldn't exactly hold my breath for a positive response to it.

Mark, correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the Los Angeles National Forest, which allows for prospecting. Cascade Canyon is technically in a water-shed and off limits to collecting as is, however, the mineralized deposit is quite expansive.

Yes, the San Gabriel Mountains will be off limits to mineral collecting of any kind. You better not be caught LOOKING at a rock funny.

This includes the Cascade Canyon Area near Mt. Baldy and the Actinolite Deposits of Wrightwood.

The Monument is not official until the maps defining the boundaries are established, which could be a couple years from now.

After it is a monument, you better not even be caught eating a blackberry off the bushes in Cascade Canyon, that will be illegal as well.

I tried posting this yesterday in a hurry at work, but I don't see it above so it must not have gone through.

National Forests and Grasslands on one hand and other "National" areas on the other are managed by two different federal agencies for two different purposes. Names of agencies and individual areas are confusingly similar, but the differences are important to recognize and understand.

National Forests and National Grasslands are under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. (Until the 1930s, National Monuments were also under USFS jurisdiction.) USFS's founding mandate is to manage lands under its jurisdiction "for the greatest good" of all Americans, which includes (at various places and at various times) resource extraction, recreation, fire suppression, and wilderness preservation. Managers of each USFS area develop their own land use policies, and those policies vary greatly from area to area. Permitted uses may or may not include recreational collecting, commercial specimen mining, or industrial mining.

National Parks, N. Monuments, N. Historic Sites, N. Memorials, N. Preserves, N. Battlefields, N. Scenic Riverways, etc. are under the jurisdiction of the U.S. National Park Service (NPS), an agency of the U.S. Department of the Interior. NPS's founding mandate is "to preserve and protect" resources under its care so as to keep them "unimpaired" for future generations. Collecting of natural or historical materials--plants (except dead-and-down firewood for camping), animals (except fish in certain cases), fossils, rocks, minerals, artifacts--is prohibited in all NPS areas unless specifically authorized for scientific purposes.

USFS and NPS often manage adjoining lands, and say what you will about dealing with either agency, it is remarkable that agencies of separate cabinet-level departments coexist as peacefully and constructively as they do when the nearest chain-of-command administrative link between a Forest Ranger on the USFS side of the fence and a Park Ranger on the NPS side is the President of the U.S.

BLM Collecting Guidelines
An objective of the BLM is to promote harmony and balance the use of Federal lands.
Respect all natural resources so that they can be enjoyed by others.

Federal regulation 43CFR8365 states that "reasonable quantities" of rock, minerals, gemstones, invertebrate and plant fossils of non-scientific importance can be collected for personnel use. "Reasonable quantity" is considered to be not more than what can be carried in a day pack. The BLM does not charge fees for collecting small, non-commercial quantities of rock taken by collectors. Collecting limited amounts of rocks, minerals, and gemstones is permitted on most federal lands, but there are some exceptions. Some lands are withdrawn or reserved for specific purposes such as outstanding natural areas, recreation sites, or national historic sites. Do not collect on prohibited or posted lands. Motorized vehicles and some other activities are prohibited on BLM lands that are designated as "Wilderness Regions". Signs are posted at roads and other accesses to these areas. There are no BLM rules for collecting in "Wilderness Regions". Collecting in these areas are up to the local district ranger. Check with them before collecting. Collecting in wilderness areas administered by the U.S. Forest Service is prohibited. Collectors are permitted to collect rocks from the surface of the ground and may use hand shovels or picks for digging. Diggings should not be more than four feet deep and should be filled before leaving. The use of explosives or power equipment is prohibited.

MINING CLAIMS
Collecting on recorded mining claims is not advised without the mining claimant's consent. The claimant has a legal right to minerals and gemstones on their claim. Collecting on claims can cause legal problems. Most claims are identified by posts or markers. It is illegal for a claimant to charge fees for collecting on their claim. Contact an area BLM office for any information on active and abandoned claim locations. Commonly collected rocks and minerals such as agate, jasper and petrified wood are not considered locatable under 1872 mining law. Common rocks and minerals are not subject to mining claims. Occasionally, some do stake claims for these materials. The fact that some material can be cut and polished does not give them a distinct or special value to make them locatable.

SALE OF ROCK
Commercial collection for the purpose of selling rocks is not allowed without special authorization. The Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (Public Law 94-579) and other statutes provide that the United States government is to receive fair market value for the sale of common varieties of rock as well as for other resources which are sold or leased. Commercial quantities are sold at values established by appraisal and completion.

DECORATIVE ROCK
The collecting of rock for decorative purposes is permitted as long as it is a reasonable quantity. A reasonable quantity is considered to be the amount that can be carried in the trunk of a car.

PETRIFIED WOOD
Petrified wood may be taken for personal, non-commercial purposes and cannot be traded or sold to commercial dealers. In accordance with Federal Regulation 43 CFR 3662, the limit is 25 pounds plus one piece per day, or 250 pounds per year. No single piece greater than 250 pounds is permitted to be taken without a special permit. A material sale contract must be obtained from a BLM district office for collecting more than 250 pounds or for commercial use.

FOSSILS
It is illegal to collect vertebrate fossils on public lands without a paleontological permit. Vertebrate and other fossils of recognized scientific interest are protected under the Antiquities Act of 1906. In some cases, removing one of these fossils could create a gap in the scientific record. In accordance with 18 USC, Section 641, the taking of vertebrate fossils is theft of government property. Violators can be fined from $1000 to $10,000 and jailed from 1 to 10

Blaine Cooper/Stanley Hicks; Oathkeeper strap hanger/fanboi

http://thisainthell.us/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Stanley-Hicks-265x300.jpg

The above picture of Stanley Blaine Hicks, they call him Blaine Cooper because that's what he goes by these days, is from a video where he calls for the arrest of John McCain for treason;
youtube removed
In a subsequent video that has now been removed from the internet, the interviewer calls Hicks/Cooper a Marine. Hicks/Cooper, however, says that he has never been a Marine    http://rtrnews.com/2014/05/28/senator-john-mccain-confronted-by-american-son-blaine-cooper/

Well, that's certainly true. But according to the Marine Corps he enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program, but then dropped off the face of the earth and never showed up for boot camp, which explains why he probably changed his name in January 2006.

Well, that and the fact that Stanley Hicks has 16 arrests and convictions in Arizona whereas Blaine Cooper only has one felony arrest and conviction in Arizona.

So, technically, he's not a phony, in that he was never a Marine and admits that fact, but these are the types that Oathkeepers lionize as heroes of their cause. I'm pretty sure that Stanley Blaine took an oath to show up for Marine Corps training and then disregarded that oath (to the Marine Corps' benefit, ultimately) so who the f*** is he to tell everyone else to honor their oaths?

Here's his comment on another blog post that triggered this investigation.

According to Stuart Rhodes, the ED of Oathkeepers, Hicks/Cooper is not a member of Oathkeepers, but he wears the T-shirts, and likes to hang out with them. So that was my mistake to say that he was a member of Oathkeepers – he's only gay for Oathkeepers.

https://libertyblitzkrieg.com/2016/01/04/a-stupid-standoff-but-a-just-cause-my-thoughts-on-the-hammond-situation-in-oregon/

Ammon, apparently trying to recreate what cannot be recreated, is looking for another Bundy Ranch stand-off.  First, I would point out that such events can't be artificially fabricated.  They have to happen in an organic way.  Whenever a group of people attempt to engineer a revolutionary moment, even if their underlying motivations are righteous, it usually ends up kicking them in the ass (Fort Sumter is a good example).  Ammon's wingmen appear to be Blaine Cooper aka Stanley Blaine Hicks (a convicted felon), and Ryan Payne (who claimed falsely during the Bundy Ranch standoff that he was an Army Ranger and who worked diligently to cause divisions between involved parties on the ground).  This was the first sign that nothing good was going to come from the Hammond protest.

The plan is basically this – use the Hammond family as a vehicle (yes, this is what is being done) even though they did not want any kind of standoff to result and specifically refused aid.  Occupy federally owned buildings which have little to do with anything of importance and have no symbolic power as did Bundy Ranch.  Elicit federal response.  Wash, rinse, repeat.

Bundy Ranch had many positive elements going for it, which is why it ended the way it did.  This standoff has none of the same elements.

wasn't originally going to write anything about the armed occupation of a Federal outpost in Oregon by a group of opportunists creating an infantile and staged reaction to yet another egregious injustice of the U.S. criminal justice system. This is a very important distinction, because in today's world everyone feels the need to take an immediate and unyielding stance on every national story without appreciating the nuances involved. One can support the Hammonds, while at the same time denounce the tactics of Ammon Bundy.

Pretty much all of you have heard about the situation by now, but if you're like me, you probably haven't had the time to dig into the nitty gritty of the situation. For this, I turn to an excellent post at Patterico titled: What Are the Bundys Protesting? Here are a few excerpts:

Stolen Valor: Ryan Payne Exposed as a Fraud.

A US Army Ranger Exposes Ryan Payne

Jim White, of Northwest Liberty News, interviewed Danny Harrington, a former Ranger, (Class of 8-85; 1st BN 83-88) who vetted Ryan Payne, who claims to have been a Ranger. Ryan Payne, if you recall, claims to be the head of security at the Bundy Ranch, and made several claims, on video, claiming he was a Ranger. Truth be told, Ryan Payne was not a Ranger, having never gone to Ranger School. Making false claims is not the way to be a trusted leader. Rangers don't like people who have never been Rangers claiming to have been one.

BREAKING: GOVERNOR TRIGGERS WACO FEARS OVER OBAMA LETTER FOR 'SWIFT' ACTION AGAINST BUNDY MILITIA - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3kesTl9d48)

The Next News Network
Published on Jan 21, 2016

A letter from the governor of Oregon, Katherine Brown, to the F B I director, James Comey, attorney general, Loretta Lynch, and President Barack Obama, was published Thursday by Oregon Public Broadcasting's John Sepulveda.

The letter details the Governor has reached her limit with the quote, "armed radicals" occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. She also pleads with the F B I and Attorney General insisting for a quote, "swift resolution to the matter."

While the governor did not define, swift, she did confirm a large presence of state and federal agencies operating in the town of Burns, and indicated the town is under great stress due to the Bundy occupation.

Sepulveda details the Governor's misgivings with the lack of Federal action and disregard for the residents from a press conference in Salem where the governor stated quote, "The residents of Harney County have been overlooked and underserved by federal official's response thus far, I have conveyed these very grave concerns directly to our leaders at the highest levels of our government."

Katherine "Kate" Brown (http://iran.usembassy.gov/brown.html)

At the press conference Governor Brown reiterated her insistence for a swift federal response stating quote, "Federal authorities must move quickly to end the occupation, and hold all of the wrong doers accountable, this spectacle of lawlessness must end."

If history is any indicator, of how the F B I may handle the swift response the Governor is insisting, one need look no further than the Federal government response at Waco.

After 51 days, that standoff swiftly concluded when the F B I initiated a tear gas attack and set fire to a building burning alive seventy six religious men, women, and children.

As of this report, the F B I has begun communication with Ammon Bundy through phone, however if the Governor gets her wish it could end in fire.

Ammon Bundy Arrested, Follower Killed, During Confrontation With Law Enforcement In Oregon
Five others also were arrested.

? 01/26/2016 09:56 pm ET | Updated 2 minutes ago
Nick Visser
Reporter, The Huffington Post

Ammon Bundy, leader of the month-long militant occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Burns, Oregon, was arrested Tuesday in a highway confrontation with law enforcement that killed one of his followers and wounded another, according to the FBI.

Bundy and four followers were arrested in a traffic stop in which shots were fired, the FBI said in a statement.

The FBI said the shootings happened when agents, along with Oregon state troopers, stopped a vehicle to arrest people involved in the armed occupation on charges of conspiracy to impede federal officials from discharging their duties.

"During that arrest, there were shots fired," the FBI said. "One individual who was a subject of a federal probable cause arrest is deceased. ... One individual suffered non-life threatening injuries."

A sixth person involved in the occupation was arrested about 90 minutes later in Burns, the FBI said.

"We have been informed that Ammon was taken in to custody while outside the refuge and that shots were fired, but confirmation of these details is still lacking," the Bundy Ranch said on its Facebook page.

KTVZ reported a medical helicopter was sent to Burns on Tuesday afternoon. The Harney District Hospital in the city was on lockdown following the reports, and 56 miles of highway was closed by the Oregon Department of Transportation between the refuge and the city of John Day.

Bundy and several other militants occupying the refuge had been expected to attend a meeting in the town on Tuesday evening.

Bundy and his armed anti-government group had occupied a building in the Malheur refuge since early January. They seized the area in support of two ranchers jailed for arson and in protest of federal management of public land.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.

1 dead, 7 arrested after leaders of armed group occupying refuge clash with FBI

HARNEY COUNTY, Ore. — One person is dead and seven others, including Oregon occupation leader Ammon Bundy, were detained following a violent confrontation with the FBI and state police Tuesday night.

It all began with a traffic stop while Bundy and some of his followers were en route to a community meeting at a John Day senior center, about 70 miles north of Burns.

Shots were fired after FBI agents, Oregon State troopers and other law enforcement agencies made the stop on US Highway 395.

Ammon Bundy, Ryan Bundy, Brian Cavalier, Shawna Cox and Ryan W. Payne were arrested during the stop. Joseph Donald O'Shaughnessy and online talk-show radio host Peter Santilli were arrested in Burns.

All of them are facing federal felony charges of conspiracy to impede officers of the United States from discharging their official duties, through the use of force, intimidation or threats.

LaVoy Finicum, an outspoken member of the armed group who would often speak at news conferences in place of Bundy, was shot and killed during the confrontation. Ryan Bundy suffered a non-life threatening injury in the shooting.

CNN is reporting it's unclear who fired first.

Rodrique thinks law enforcement should cut the power to the refuge headquarters and wait out the occupiers.

Yeah... good idea.

Law enforcement could have taken that route at Waco also.

In both cases they chose not to.

Idiots from the very start.  Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

The Hammonds didn't want their help or them there.
The local community didn't want them there.
The Three Percent of Idaho militia group told them to stand down.  It was the wrong fight, the wrong time, the wrong place.

But no.  Bullheaded from start to finish.  Mother Nature doing what Mother Nature does best.  Weed out the gene pool via your own piss poor choices.

Edit - Clarification - I'm not defending the FBI's actions.  I'm saying these guys chose their own fate from the get go.  You pick up arms, you're willing to shoot and be shot.

FBI OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Eight people were arrested, and one man died yesterday as we attempted to take him into custody. Because there is an on-going investigation by the Deschutes County Major Crimes Team on behalf of OSP related to this piece of the investigation, I will not be able to comment on the specifics.

I would, however, ask for your patience as the shooting investigation works its way through that outside process. At the appropriate time, the Medical Examiner's office will release the decedent's identity, and OSP will address the details of the event.

New video shows deadly confrontation between FBI, Oregon militia

Quote
A man identified as Finicum gets out of the truck. At first, he has his hands up, but then he reaches into his pocket and he falls into the snow.

"On at least two occasions, Finicum reaches his right hand toward a pocket on the left inside portion of his jacket," said Greg Bretzing, special agent in charge for the FBI in Portland.

"He did have a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun in the pocket," he said.

Bretzing also said Finicum's truck nearly hit an FBI agent before it got stuck in the snow.

"Actions have consequences," Bretzing said. "The FBI and OSP tried to effect these arrests peacefully."

STATEMENT FROM THE LAVOY FINICUM FAMILY 1-29-2016

We know that there are always at least two sides to every story.

We also know and recognize that the FBI and law enforcement agencies involved will do everything in their power to make it appear as if the needless death of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and son, LaVoy Finicum, was justified.

Like almost everyone else, we were not there, so we don't know exactly what happened. Like most others, we have no choice but to rely on other sources of information. One of those sources of information is the account of Victoria Sharp.

Another piece of information is the video recently released by the FBI, along with the FBI's chosen narrative of what happened.

In response to this information, we would like to make a few observations.

The first observation is that from what we understand, the occupation was on track toward a peaceful resolution.

LaVoy and those he was with were en route to a public meeting in an adjoining county when they were stopped in something far different than a "routine traffic stop," as has been portrayed by the media.

Unfortunately, the powers that be were not interested in being patient enough for the occupation to come to a peaceful end. Some had called for LaVoy and those he was with to simply be gunned down, just as he was, with no due process.

Oregon Governor, Kate Brown, was putting pressure on the FBI to end it sooner rather than later. The Harney County Sheriff's Department working in conjunction with the FBI tried to do everything they could to emphasize how disruptive the occupation was to the local community, when in reality it appears to have been their own reaction that was causing most of the disruption. And it was the FBI that chose to escalate the situation to force a confrontation, and violent ending.

With respect to the actual facts and circumstances surrounding LaVoy's death, the video really speaks for itself.

People will interpret it according to their own views. As the FBI's own narrative stated, LaVoy was not wielding a firearm or any other weapon when he was killed. His hands were obviously in the air. Knowing LaVoy, it is our view that he was moving away from the vehicle in an attempt to draw any hostility or violence away from the others.

Unfortunately, we don't know what he was saying, and what was being said to him. He appears to have been gesturing, or trying to keep his balance while moving in the deep snow. Although he may have been animated, he does not appear to have been threatening or posing any real threat or danger to anyone. The FBI claims that LaVoy had a loaded firearm in an inside pocket of his coat.

After re- reviewing the extended video, at this point we are not accepting at face value the FBI's statement that LaVoy was actually armed. But even if he was, as far as we can see, that firearm posed no more danger to anyone than it would have if he had stayed in the vehicle, with his hands on the steering wheel. Contrary to what has been stated by some sources, LaVoy was not "charging" anyone.

He appears to have been shot in the back, with his hands in the air.

It is our understanding that according to applicable law, the use of deadly force is justified only if there is a genuine threat of death or serious bodily injury. It is our understanding and position that deadly force should only be used as a last resort. In LaVoy's case, it appears that they were determined to go straight to the last resort.

It is our understanding that the U.S. Supreme Court and Ninth Circuit Court of appeals have ruled as follows:[/i]

"The reasonableness of [officers'] actions depends both on whether the officers were in danger at the precise moment that they used force and on whether [the officers'] own reckless or deliberate conduct during the seizure unreasonably created the need to use such force."

"[W]here an officer intentionally or recklessly provokes a violent confrontation . . . he may be held liable for his otherwise defensive use of deadly force."

Although officers may claim self-defense, they may still be liable for using excessive force if their reckless and unconstitutional actions create the need to use excessive force.

It is our understanding that in addition to shooting LaVoy multiple times, after he was left lying harmlessly on the ground the officers also fired upon his truck and the passengers in it, putting them all at risk, despite the fact that they were posing no threat to anyone.

The video clearly shows one of the windows being blown out. It has been gut- wrenching for our family to view the video of LaVoy being shot, and then left to lie in the snow while a whole army of so-called "public servants" terrorized the others.

We can only hope their families never have to watch such a thing.

We will be interested to inspect the vehicle.

We will also be interested to see the autopsy report.

Once upon a time, a great American general was faced by a more powerful army. He won eventually because he adopted The Fabian Strategy.  Many years later, the US empire itself was defeated in Vietnam by this strategy.

My sincere condolences for this brave man's passing - but that said, this gathering was playing into the government's hands.

If progress is made in this nation, it won't be by direct revolution, generally.  It will be because of limp passive-aggressive behavior and technology.  The rich will lose wealth in the next crash and tech will eventually give us cheap/free energy and 3-D decentralized manufacturing.  The new T-14 tank (Russia) is supposedly a product of                     3-D stuff.

People are w-a-y too dependent on pharmaceuticals to do any revolution - and the same goes for any resumption of the draft.  Sorry, Sarge. I can't take that hill today because I lost my diabetic/antidepressant/HIV pills.  This is so widespread that a Pentagon report suggested that more than 70% of young men would be disqualified. Today, the Pentagon also reported that climate change concerns were now a priority ( winning apparently isn't).  There is pressure to let women into all combat service even though the evidence against their equal performance is solid.

With neither an effective army, nor an effective rebellion, the future of the US is going to be interesting.

WHAT ABOUT THE LAST FOUR AT THE REFUGE?

Stewart Rhodes
8 February, 2016, 21:38

We tried, before the FBI locked the place down fully, but these last four just would not budge, and then just yesterday we asked the FBI again if we could make one last attempt to go in and escort the "final four" out, and the FBI said no, they would not let anyone in to do that, because they are concerned for the safety of anyone attempting it, based on prior statements by those on the refuge.

No, David Frye has put out a video saying that is nonsense, that they would not fire upon anyone coming in to escort them out. But, the fact remains that the FBI will not let us try it.

And, the window of opportunity for those final four to leave without charges (other than the pre-existing Wisconsin warrant for Sean Anderson) has apparently closed. It looks like all of them are now facing charges. They waited too long.

You should know that we did successfully get the children off the refuge by working with the FBI and with WA State Representative Matt Shea, and his "man on the ground" at the refuge. And when the kids left, along with all but one of the women (Sean Anderson's wife), a bunch of men left too, including Blaine Cooper.

So, we have tried many times, through back channels, and so has PPN, to get all of them to leave, and these four are the last hold-outs. And note that Ammon Bundy himself told them to leave, to go home, and let him carry on the fight in the courts. But they won't even listen to him.

It doesn't help at all that his own father, Cliven Bundy, is telling them to stay, and also proclaiming that HE is now in charge, and that "the people" will not give the refuge up to the feds. How he expects to obtain that goal is beyond me.

I am willing to do whatever can be done, but it looks like the window has closed on us being able to go there and try to talk them out, in person.

The FBI just won't let us in there anymore.

LaVoy Finicum R.I.P.

My God! Watch This Video! (https://www.oathkeepers.org/lavoy-finicum-funeral-and-vigil/)

February 8, 2016
by Elias Alias, Oathkeepers

I will publish a more detailed coverage of LaVoy Finicum's funeral shortly, as soon as more materials are sent in. In the meantime, I want to simply feature the most moving video I've seen in years. I cannot duplicate the video here at our national site, so will have to just link to it below.

On Friday, February 05, 2016 the funeral for LaVoy Finicum was attended by a crowd of three thousand to four thousand souls. I received a call from "KH" to let me know that the viewing was with an open coffin.

The coffin was made of wood and had the phrase "One Cowboy's Stand For Freedom" written into the wood, surrounded by a barbed wire frame, horseshoes, and the LV brand. Cyrellys sent me this picture of that, source unknown.

One Cowboy's Stand For Freedom
So several thousand people attended the funeral. I salute each one.

The support for this family and for the legacy of LaVoy Finicum, I am told, was inspirational.

But the real inspiration was the statement delivered by two of LaVoy's daughters.

Beyond that I have known very little about the funeral, until the wee hours this Monday morning, February 08, 2016. After a long night of reading and writing I was clearing comments under articles here at the national website, and found a link posted by a reader named  "AM" which strikes true gold in the vein of the American "body politic".

(Thank you 'AM' for posting that!) I cannot view this without crying, and I'm betting that you can't either.

My God! Can we hear these voices, America?

Can we cherish the grace of love from which these young ladies speak? In tears of shared loss is bathed the most patriotic plea I've ever heard, from the highest peaks achievable by any human soul.

There is nothing else to say.

These young patriots, having lost their father to government guns as he stood for this nation's Constitution on his own terms, have assured his immortality in American history and sparked a fusion in the hearts of millions of Americans who will see this and finally understand . . .

Just watch this.   Watch it right now —

Enterprise told them the devious actions of an FBI agent who is located in central Oregon

The FBI told Enterprise agents that Pete Santilli had been incarcerated in Multnomah County jail since January 26th and that 2 unauthorized women were driving the rental car leased in Pete Santilli's name.

They also told the Enterprise agent that these 2 women were planning a trip to Burns, Oregon where there was an active illegal occupation of a wildlife refuge --- and asked for the On-Star code so that they could listen to conversations inside the vehicle ---

Hello, after viewing this video I must say, I believe this is a hard and shocking example of the state in which we live. All of the injected variables (Violations to our personal knowledge, also our written and cherished rights.) that have lead to a state of mind in the leadership, to try and take away any and all aspects of life that support the individuals and their right to live with the freedom to defend their selves and loved ones from said offenders.
We expect to be governed with a JUST and PROTECTING embrace from the peoples we put in these positions of power. When this treatment is not forthcoming, we have tried to remedy using the system we are giving. Yet it seems we are nearly always deceived and lead astray as to what the truth is and who is both correct and "right". This leaves us in a strained and vulnerable position. Since this limits our ways to deal in a tangible or physical way, we suffer even more so in mentality and emotion. All this accumulating and culminating in the desperate type of responses we are seeing more and more from both sides. The people and the governing body. The behaviors we see people exhibiting either on the news or outside your own door are good examples of a strained and unsatisfied people.
I would only say that it is time to do all you can do even if it is just talking to the people you meet and know. The emotions that are conveyed when people speak face to face are unbeatable for delivering a truthful and hard felt message. Gather and talk and grow!

Good luck to us all, we need it!

Very Sad  to see...I am sure this could have been avoided by the Feds...

Not sure if I understand the full details of what had actually happened prior or after.. or whether it was a pure case of attempted govt take over verses groups willing to attempt to oppose them..

But it seems it should never have led to anyone loosing their life..

If its been Govt Corruption and Lavoy was part of who opposed it , to the extreme of the loss of his ownlife...

Then he would be seen as a hero to many in ref to his attempted  reaction to them...

That's more the impression that I get without researching it all in relevant detail.

If this is still part of a NWO take over then...he was a brave man to stand his ground...against what seem yet again a evil Govt related police like group..carrying out their orders and trigger like actions that they all so often do or have done in past similar events..

Oregon militia standoff: dramatic final surrender at wildlife refuge – as it happened

(https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/e552e5283153f4a9909a24a47c3b1c3b33865b2a/150_89_3600_2161/master/3600.jpg?w=700&q=85&auto=format&sharp=10&s=bb84fbfbc91ee37d84ba3dab48784545)

Latest summary

The 41-day armed occupation at the Malheur national wildlife refuge ended this morning when the final four protesters surrendered after a dramatic standoff with FBI agents.
Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy was arrested in Portland and has been charged with six federal crimes stemming from his confrontation with the federal government in 2014.
Nine more Oregon militia members were charged today, meaning 25 people total are now accused in a federal conspiracy case. Two of them were still at large as of this afternoon.
Officials are now investigating the "crime scene" at the wildlife sanctuary and plan to begin efforts to "repair damages" caused by the occupation.

Live #OregonStandoff Escalates On Air With America Listening | RedState (http://www.redstate.com/diary/truefreak/2016/02/11/live-oregonstandoff-escalates-air-america-listening/)

Tonight, at roughly 4:30pm PT the FBI surrounded and laid siege (http://www.kgw.com/news/local/eastern-oregon/oregon-standoff-at-wildlife-refuge-near-burns/23263117) to the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Burns, Oregon.

The initial standoff began on January 2, when well over 100 ranchers and militia supporters arrived at the refuge to protest various infractions by the federal government Bureau of Land Management concerning property rights and ranchers who use land in Nevada and Oregon.

Additional live updates were made by OPB (http://www.opb.org/news/series/burns-oregon-standoff-bundy-militia-news-updates/live-updates-reports-of-oregon-standoff-escalating/).

Soon after the siege began, liberty activist and social media entrepreneur Gavin Seim set up a conference call with the protesters still holed up in the refuge and put it live on the air through Youtube HERE. Protesters on the phone included David Fry, 27, of Blanchester, Ohio; Jeff Banta, 46, of Elko, Nevada; and Sean Anderson, 48, and Sandy Anderson, 47 of Riggins, Idaho.

The live feed quickly caught fire through twitter via the hashtag #OregonStandoff, and on Facebook. By 9:30pm over 67,000 people were tuned in at one time, averaging over 50,000 most of the night.

Besides the angry outbursts of the protesters you could hear the bullhorn of the FBI outside. At one point, it seemed things might boil over and end badly. The audio was breathtaking.

Reality TV, eat your heart out.

Having just landed at Portland International Airport, (Nevada State Rep.) Michele Fiore was in a car on her way through the Cascade mountains for a 5 hour drive to Burns, OR, with the goal to mediate a peaceful end to the standoff.

Upon arriving in the conference, she took the role of negotiator, speaking words of wisdom and peace, navigating loud and occasionally profane bursts of anger from the protesters taking turns on the phone.

At one point of levity she offered to stop at McDonalds to bring them food. They assured everyone they had "a thousand granola bars, but we're really sick of granola bars now."

CONVERSATION ABOUT LIBERTY, CONSTITUTION, LAVOY FINICUM

Listeners were treated to various tirades by protesters over several hours, voicing frustration about local law enforcement, the preceding protest, the death of Robert "LaVoy" Finicum last month (http://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-standoff/2016/02/post_6.html) and current tensions.

Fiore and Seim engaged them with oddly gripping conversation about land management, government overreach, the role of the FBI, the constitution, God's grace, the revolution of 1776, and other political topics, interspersed with several moments of prayer for peace and strength.

[...]

They connected with Victoria Sharp, 18 who was one of those in the vehicle when fellow protester LaVoy Finicum was killed in an incident outside of Burns last month (http://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-standoff/2016/02/oregon_standoff_sheriffs_stanc.html).

She recorded a spiritual sung in harmony with her family and sent it to Gavin Seim for play on the air for the protesters.

The lyrics included the refrain, "The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is our strength, the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? Of whom shall I be afraid? Even when my enemies and foes came against me they fell."

[...]

Rep. Fiore assured them that she would be there, with Rev. Graham to walk with them and assure that the process of surrender is peaceful. Before hanging up she credited Seim for helping to keep the protesters alive by putting together the technology for this event.

And she encouraged the protesters in their pending surrender: "You have elected officials now that are listening. America is listening. You have to know what you've done. You guys are making history tonight. You need to know that... good night."

Protester Sandy Anderson ended the call with an affirmation, "Thank you, America for sticking with us and making it happen."

LaVoy Finicum shooting: What happened when | OregonLive.com (http://www.oregonlive.com/oregon-standoff/2016/02/post_6.html)

[...]

People who've watched the video raise several points of contention, including:

   •   Did Finicum reach for a gun or a gunshot wound?
   •   Did police or FBI agents shoot at Finicum's truck before he drove away?
   •   Did they riddle his truck with bullets as two women who were inside claim.

The Oregonian/OregonLive created a timeline of what the FBI, the two women in Finicum's truck and the driver of a Jeep also stopped during the confrontation have said publicly about what happened and when.

We've also compared their comments to an FBI aerial video of the deadly encounter and later comments from law enforcement sources.

[...]

"One thing they did tell me, I had to get all the guns out of our house by time I came home. They had to go somewhere else."

Cox's husband took their guns to her daughter's house, where they were stored in her son-in-law's shop. Her son-in-law was in the shop that night working on his back hoe.

"He fell asleep in the chair by the wood stove. After the family went up to the house, my daughter and the little kids, somehow that thing exploded.

Now he's killed.

They call me back, got to get back here and need to put ankle bracelet on."

With the current Liberal gun control frenzy one has to wonder WHY the "Sleeping Giant" has no awoken yet.  The TALK is all over the net and the social media but very little action is being taken save a few small groups

However that Sleeping Giant is not totally dormant.  He has woken a little and is getting the morning coffee

Fortune Magazines says:

Gun sales hit a record high for the fifth month in a row

QuoteThe summer of 2015 was a great time to be a firearms dealer.

The FBI conducted 1,795,102 firearm background checks through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) in September, suggesting gun sales were at an all-time high that month.

The number of background checks represents a new record, up more than 20% from the previous September high set in 2012, when 1,459,363 background checks were conducted.

September is also the fifth month in a row to set a record for background checks. May, June, July, and August all saw record numbers.

The number of checks done in a particular month is generally seen as a proxy for how many guns were sold. This year alone over 15 million background checks have already gone through the NICS, which is more than were conducted in 2010 and every year prior (NICS began recording numbers of firearm related background checks in 1998).

The report warns that there is not a one-to-one correlation between background checks and firearm sales. There are multiple factors that could skew the numbers.

A single background check doesn't represent the number of firearms that were purchased by an individual. According to CNN Money, only 5 states require a background check if you purchase a gun from a private individual at a gun show.

As for why sales are so high, Fortune reported in June that it could possibly be caused by Obama calling for stricter gun control laws. As Business Insider's Sam Ro said, "gunmakers don't benefit from tighter gun control. They benefit when there are talks of tighter gun control but those talks go nowhere."

QuoteAssociate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.
Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa.
Scalia arrived at the 30,000-acre ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people that night, according to a federal official.

Government Sanctioned Murders Of Patriots Continue; Perverts, Traitors, Informants Responsible - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fMaTAH-1tU)

Bobby Powell
Published on Feb 4, 2016

In this episode of The Truth Is Viral, the government-sanctioned assassination of rancher LaVoy Finicum is definitively exposed from all angles.

In addition to enhanced FBI video footage of Finicum's murder throughout the show, TTiV will be exposing the criminal past of the FBI Special Agent in Charge of the standoff at Mahleur Wildlife Refuge, and the US Attorney for Oregon who had to resign because it was revealed that she was a sexual deviant, a stalker who obsessed on her underlings, the woman who was responsible for unjustly sending the Hammonds back to prison for a second time.

You will see BLM officials plot to defraud the United States Government while paying far below market value for properties they want to seize, so that people like Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton can profit by selling the mineral rights to the Chinese and Russians.

You will learn that it was corrupt local, state, and federal officials who created a climate of fear in Harney County, dressing up like militia and attempting to sow discord.

There is a reason the Harney County Fire Chief Chris Briels resigned in disgust.

There is a reason that three top officials in the Harney County School District resigned their positions as well.

At the very least, the occupation of the Mahleur National Wildlife Refuge has exposed deep-seeded, incestuous, and nepotistic corruption at all levels of government that have awakened the locals and require further investigation.

We'll also be hearing from Mark McConnell, whose interpretation of events has been picked up by the mainstream media as definitive.

However, through the eyewitness testimony of two of the occupants of the vehicle LaVoy Finicum was driving, you will learn how the government laid an ambush in a deliberate attempt to kill everyone in the vehicle.

One of these witnesses, Shawna Cox, states that she believes it was Johnnie-come-Lately Mark McConnell who set them up to be murdered, and also how her son-in-law was killed in a mysterious explosion in the garage where all of her weapons had been stored.

And finally, TTiV Publisher Bobby Powell will address the charges that talk radio host Pete Santilli is a federal informant, responsible for the arrests of the protesters at the Mahleur Wildlife Refuge.

Santilli's livestreams from the refuge provided a lot of evidence to the federal government that was used to indict the Bundys and others, and published reports have labeled him a "Douchebag Turncoat."

Unspun Newz explores the dangers posed by corporate controlled media deception and propaganda.

This report focuses on major cases of media deception such as, the now famous, Monsanto rBGH growth hormone case where FOX News actually fought for and won the right to lie on the news.

The report also details ABCs false reports about anthrax and how ABCs Brian Ross tried to link the anthrax attacks in 2001 to Iraq. The report further explores the corporate media blackout on the recently released scientific evidence proving that high tech explosives were used to demolish the world trade center on 9/11.

Unspun highlights how media lies impact public health and how they were used to mislead the people into supporting war and how those deceptions have affected us and our troops.

In Re: American Amritsar

Dear Sirs:

We should have heard it at Ruby Ridge, and somehow, despite the facts, did not. A young Mother shot to death along with her baby and young son and the family dog for no reason by FBI Agents.

We should have heard it again at Waco, Texas. A private community of people invaded, gassed, fire bombed— again, with no credible reason by federal agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Exactly where were the stockpiles of alcohol, tobacco, or firearms at Waco?

And now, a caravan of peaceful Americans on their way to a public meeting to discuss unlawful actions of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)– ambushed, murdered in cold blood, and subjected to false arrest by members of the FBI and "STATE" police. What "STATE" of Oregon would that be? A bankrupt corporate franchise of the French Corporation known as the UNITED STATES, or the actual state of the Union owed to the people of Oregon?

Initial attempts are being made by the FBI to claim that it was being hindered in the accomplishment of their "official duties"—- let's make it very clear that the members of the FBI are no longer public officers and have no "official duties". They are commercial mercenaries acting under color of law at the behest of private, mostly foreign-owned banks, including the IMF, and dirty politicians.

Just so everyone is clear here— the UN Corporation was set up in France several years before the United Nations was chartered. The UN Corporation chartered the IMF, also in France. The IMF then chartered the UNITED STATES, which set up franchises for itself called the STATE OF OREGON and the STATE OF WISCONSIN and so on, and set up shop here in the business of providing "essential governmental services".

Since when did ambush, murder, false arrest, kidnapping and misrepresentation of our political status become a "service" that we are paying for?

The facts of the matter are these: these "agencies" are nothing but private subcontractors of the UNITED STATES, INC. and its STATE OF OREGON franchise— foreign commercial mercenaries acting under color of law on our soil, wearing uniforms and flashing badges and pretending to be part of our lawful government when they are not.

The FBI is a private security force hired and maintained for the purpose of racketeering under color of law in this country.

It is always the same. Banks behind the scenes hire some of us to kill and defraud others of us and these "agents" commit these horrible crimes, because they are ignorant dumb brutes, trained from birth to take orders without question. Just like the Nazis. Just like the British at Amritsar. Just like the First Order troopers in the newest version of Star Wars.

Always, we Americans seem to buy both ends of the stick, abused both coming and going. If we shoot, we shoot ourselves, because it is Americans who are being hired to do this dirty work for the British Crown and the French Government and the bankers in back of it all.

This time, we have no excuse for not hearing the guns at Amritsar and Concord.

The States of America are still alive, still here despite all the lies that the Queen and her minions can tell. Our people are still sovereign. We've been defrauded and abused by international banks and members of the Bar Associations, but then, who hasn't been? The fraud stretches back 150 years, but that is of no concern: there is no statute of limitation on the crime of fraud, and fraud vitiates all that it touches ever afterward.

The Fraud Reset Button takes us back to 1860 and the election of Abraham Lincoln, a lawyer prohibited from holding any public office in our government by our actual Constitution known as The Constitution for the united States of America, but who was nonetheless elected to serve as "President" of the United States— a commercial trading company that Lincoln bankrupted in 1863.

At the end of the Civil War those responsible booted up a new corporation calling itself The United States of America (Inc.) and they published a brand new corporate charter deceptively named "the Constitution of the United States of America" and they busily began amending it however they pleased without ratification by the states. All Amendments from the 13th onward are private by-laws of a private for-profit governmental services corporation and its successors, having no meaning or applicability as public law.

Via the simple process of incorporation the con artists responsible removed the Federal Government off the jurisdiction of the land and out from under the actual Constitution and Law of the Land, and placed all their offices and operations in the international jurisdiction of the sea and under the Law of the Sea. Either by guile or by ignorance, state governments followed suit and incorporated their operations with the same result. So did the units of county government. They were bribed into doing this with promises of "federal revenue sharing"—– that is, kickbacks from IMF racketeering profits.

Since then two large colluding banking cartels — the Federal Reserve and the International Monetary Fund — have kept us entertained with every form of banking and securities and bankruptcy and probate fraud imaginable. The IMF has been responsible for the actions at Ruby Ridge, at Waco, and now, in Oregon, where a sweet and innocent young man lays dead. His blood is on your hands.

How much are we to charge you for what you can never undo or repay?

You, Monsieur President Hollande, have sent your private-for profit corporations over here to do business selling us "governmental services" and let them run rampant, without enforcement of their charters and without respecting your treaty obligations owed to the united States of America and the American people. You have let them operate as inland pirates and racketeers on our shores for which we hold the French Government responsible.

You, Mr. Obama, have followed your own master, the British Crown, and allowed the same despicable performance— probate fraud, bankruptcy fraud, banking and securities fraud, racketeering, unlawful conversion of assets, mischaracterization of political status, violent armed extortion, kidnapping, inland piracy, press-ganging, identity theft, personage, barratry and more — crimes that have been for the most part outlawed worldwide for between a hundred and two hundred years. For that, we hold the Federal United States and the Members of Congress and the British Government and the British Monarch responsible.

We demand the immediate release and return of the Americans ambushed and placed under false arrest by the FBI in Oregon and the immediate arrest of the officers and their superiors responsible for this outrage. We are bringing charges to the local Common Law Grand Juries in Oregon against the corporate employee responsible for the execution-style killing of LaVoy Finicum. We expect this man to be indicted for aggravated and premeditated murder in the first degree while impersonating an officer and engaged in armed racketeering under color of law. Every man involved in this ambush, killing, and false arrest is an accomplice to this crime.

All the bank officials and administrative officers including the members of the American Bar Association who have contributed to and preserved this system of violent fraud must be arrested and punished as befits their crimes as murderers and thieves. The offending banks must be liquidated and their assets returned to the people they have harmed and their heirs.

Cliven Bundy, 4 others face federal indictment in Nevada

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office on Thursday morning released the mugshot from Cliven Bundy's arrest Wednesday night.

Ammon Bundy, brother Ryan Bundy, Ryan Payne and Peter Santilli -- already indicted in the armed takeover of a federal wildlife refuge in eastern Oregon -- now face federal indictment along with Cliven Bundy in the 2014 armed standoff near the Bundy ranch in Nevada.

The indictment charges the four with 16 felonies: one count of conspiring to commit an offense against the United States, one count of conspiring to impede or injure a federal officer, four counts of carrying a firearm in a crime of violence, two counts of assault on a federal officer, two counts of threatening a federal law enforcement officer, three counts of obstructing justice, two counts of interfering with interstate commerce by extortion and one count of interstate travel in aid of extortion.

It also levels five counts of criminal forfeiture against each defendant. If convicted of the offenses, they would have to forfeit property obtained from the proceeds of their crimes, totaling at least $3 million, including cattle at the so-called Bunkerville Allotment and Lake Mead National Recreational Area in Nevada. They also would have to forfeit firearms and ammunition used in the April 12, 2014, standoff with federal authorities.

"The rule of law has been reaffirmed with these charges,'' said Nevada's U.S. Attorney Daniel G. Bogden in a prepared statement. "Persons who use force and violence against federal law enforcement officers who are enforcing court orders and nearly causing catastrophic loss of life or injury to others, will be brought to justice.''

The elder Bundy, 69, of Bunkerville, Nevada, his sons, Ammon E. Bundy, 40, of Emmet, Idaho, and Ryan C.  Bundy, 43, of Mesquite, Nevada, as well as Ryan W. Payne, 32, of Anaconda, Montana, and Peter T. Santilli, Jr., 50, of Cincinnati, remain in custody in Portland.

"This indictment sends a resounding message to those who wish to participate in violent acts that our resolve to pursue them and enforce the law remains unwavering," said Nevada's FBI Special Agent in Charge Laura  Bucheit.

More Reading | The 51-page federal indictment

The indictment stems from what federal officials have described as the "massive armed assault'' by Cliven Bundy and his co-defendants against federal law enforcement officers who tried to corral about 400 cattle near the Bundy Ranch.

They're accused of planning, organizing and leading the 2014 assault and recruiting hundreds of others  in an armed force to thwart the seizure and removal of Cliven Bundy's cattle from public lands.

It accuses the elder Bundy of trespassing on the public lands for more than 20 years, refusing to get the legally required permits or pay the required fees to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to keep and graze his cattle on the land.

"Today marks a tremendous step toward ending more than 20 years of law breaking," said Neil Kornze, director of the Bureau of Land Management. "The nation's public lands belong to all Americans."

Cliven Bundy was arrested after he arrived in Portland on Feb. 10 to visit his two jailed sons, who were indicted in the armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Ammon Bundy led the takeover, which began Jan. 2 and lasted 41 days. He said he and his followers were demonstrating against the return to prison of Harney County ranchers Dwight Hammond Jr. and his son, Steve Hammond, and the federal government's control of public land.

The indictment identifies Cliven Bundy as the "leader, organizer and chief beneficiary" of the conspiracy. Ammon and Ryan Bundy are accused of recruiting followers, interfering with the federal effort to impound the Bundy cattle, threatening and using force against federal officers and trying to extort BLM contractors.

"It's what we anticipated,'' said Ammon Bundy's lawyer, Mike Arnold. A federal complaint issued last week against Cliven Bundy had referenced four unnamed co-conspirators in the Nevada case. Arnold declined comment on the substance of the charges, saying he hadn't seen the formal indictment yet.

"It's important for the public to remember that there is a constitutional presumption of innocence in America,'' Arnold said in an email. "A government charge is proof of nothing. That's what courts and trials are for.''

Payne is accused of organizing armed "protection'' for the alleged conspirators in Nevada, and Santilli, an independent broadcaster, is accused of recruiting followers using the Internet.

According to the indictment, Santilli tried to "incite listeners'' to travel to the Bundy Ranch for unlawful purposes. It quotes him saying on April 8, 2014, "if this is not the issue right now where we stand and fight to the absolute death there is no other option; the federal government must get out of the state of Nevada...if you're in Nevada and can legally carry, get weapons out there, o.k...we are going to stand and fight in Clark County, Nevada.''

Santilli's court-appointed lawyer Thomas Coan has argued in federal court in Portland that his client, a "shock jock,'' is being persecuted for his political speech and bravado in his online broadcasts.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Nevada, the maximum penalties for the Nevada-based charges range from five years to 20 years, with $250,000 in fines for each charge.

The maximum sentence is five years for conspiracy to commit an offense against the U.S., six years for conspiracy to impede and injure a federal officer; 20 years for assault on a federal officer; 10 years for threatening a federal law enforcement officer; 10 years for obstruction of justice, 20 years for interfering with interstate commerce by extortion, 20 years for interstate travel in aid of extortion and a five-year minimum for using and carrying a firearm in a crime of violence.

Cliven Bundy is expected to be returned to Nevada to face federal prosecution there. The defendants in the Oregon refuge takeover case are likely to be prosecuted here before facing federal prosecution in Nevada.

Ammon Bundy statement on Nevada indictments

In a statement recorded in jail, Ammon Bundy repeats many of his previous thoughts and opinions regarding what he says is the federal government abusing its powers and things he claims happened at the Bundy Ranch standoff in 2014.

Allow me to inject a bit of hope as regards this topic - concerning the decline of the US into a police state.

http://www.businessinsider.com/r-bushs-road-to-south-carolina-a-tale-of-unforced-errors-and-miscalculations-2016-2

Not only is Jeb Bush finished but his collapse tells us some interesting things, as you read in the above. To me, the whole 9/11, war with Iraq subject was an 'elephant in the room'  and he was utterly flat-footed and unprepared to address the subject.  His bewilderment was astounding.  He represented the Bush family, for God's sake.

This tells us something: that the Cabal/Elite are often blind to their own mistakes and dumbfounded as to why anyone blames them for mass death and defeats. They are detached, naive and lying to themselves as well as everyone else.

This 'deaf and dumb' arrogance gives hope that their long misrule may be ending - however sad the casualties along the way may be.

Here again we can see the mental darkness and blind puzzlement of the Elite.  I imagine that the French and Russian aristocracy felt the same way before their respective revolutions.  I can only hope our nation moves forward with rapid evolution that avoids violence.

This is so disgusting. The statist mentality has infested every federal enforcement agency and the federal government is running scared.

Have you raised your voice in dissent against the government's unlawful land grabs out west?

Then get ready to meet your Maker, or your Slavemaster (who somehow has come to think it created you). They are picking off the ones who stood up to protect the Bundy family from gun-pointing BLM thugs. Never forget – the BLM pointed guns at innocent ranchers and their family before anyone pointed guns back at the unlawful BLM criminals.

Today, March 03, 2016, has been a very dark day for the Constitution, as badge-toting statist ego-maniacs arrested good Americans for standing up to the federal government's criminality.

Just hours ago, on March 03, 2016, the Salt Lake Tribune posted this article with a pictured fingerprint over-layed with the appropriate name for what this government has done – "CRIME" — Though the newspaper wants readers to think that the victims of these arrests are criminals, history will show that the government and its minions are the ones who actually have committed "crime".

Bundy family members arrested in Utah

Excerpts from article:
Federal agents made arrests in six states — including Utah — on Thursday, rounding up supporters of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy for their participation in a 2014 armed standoff with federal agents.

In all, 12 men were arrested, including two of Bundy's sons: David "Davey" Harold Bundy, 39, of Delta, Utah, and his brother, Melvin D. Bundy, 41, of Round Mountain, Nev., federal officials said.

The men are two of the 14 children of Cliven Bundy, the 69-year-old Bunkerville, Nev., cattleman who last month was arrested and indicted on 16 federal charges related to a standoff near his ranch as part of a long-running dispute with the Bureau of Land Management over unpaid grazing fees....
In a news release, the U.S. Department of Justice said the arrests follow the Wednesday return of a new grand jury indictment in Nevada's U.S. District Court.

The indictment charges 14 new individuals with one count each of conspiracy to commit and offense against the United States, conspiracy to impede or injury a federal officer, weapon use and possession, assault on a federal officer, threatening a federal law enforcement officer, obstruction of justice, extortion to interfere with commerce and interstate travel in aid of extortion.

The charges carry penalties ranging from five to 20 years in federal prison.

The indictment also alleges five counts of criminal forfeiture, which could require defendants to surrender more than $3 million in properties derived from the proceeds of the alleged crimes, the DOJ statement says.

"This investigation began the day after the assault against federal law enforcement officers and continues to this day," Nevada's U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said in a statement. "We will continue to work to identify the assaults and their role in the assault and the aftermath, in order to ensure that justice is served...

Also arrested on Thursday were: Gerald A. DeLemus, 61, of Rochester, N.H.; Eric J. Parker, 32, of Hailey, Idaho; O. Scott Drexler, 44, of Challis, Idaho; Richard R. Lovelien, 52, of Westville, Okla.; Steven A. Stewart, 36, of Hailey, Idaho; Todd C. Engel, 48, of Boundary County, Idaho; Gregory P. Burleson, 52, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Joseph D. O'Shaughnessy, 43, of Cottonwood, Ariz.; and Micah L. McGuire, 31, and Jason D. Woods, 30, both of Chandler, Ariz.

I just saw this on another forum...

QuoteDA: LaVoy Finicum's shooting death justified

The investigation into the death of LaVoy Finicum, killed during the occupation of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in January, shows that the three fatal shots fired by Oregon State Police were justified "and, in fact, necessary," Malheur County District Attorney Dan Norris said Tuesday.

In total, eight shots were fired, though flash-bang grenades and gas projectiles were also deployed, the investigation showed.

The police provided reporters with video of Finicum's truck barreling at an estimated 70 mph toward a roadblock of two trucks forming a V in the middle of the road. A third vehicle was parked behind those trucks.

The officers believed Finicum "planned to crash through or otherwise evade the roadblock" and could injure or kill law enforcement officers at the scene, Norris said. They fired at the truck three times but hit no one inside the truck.

Just before Finicum arrived at the roadblock, he veered left into a snowbank at an estimated 50 mph, narrowly missing a federal agent who was trying to get out of the way, the video showed.

As Finicum exited his vehicle with a loaded Ruger 9 mm handgun in the left-hand interior pocket of his jacket, he was instructed to get on the ground three times, Deschutes County Sheriff L. Shane Nelson said.

Despite Finicum defying those orders and reaching toward the pocket containing the gun, two nearby state police officers did not immediately open fire, and a third officer attempted to move in with a Taser, Nelson said. Finicum was out of range of the Taser, he said.

A transcript of the audio provided by police showed that each time they told Finicum to get on the ground, he responded either, "Go ahead and shoot me" or "You're gonna have to shoot me."

When Finicum reached for his pocket a third time, two troopers opened fire, hitting him three times in the back -- in the left shoulder, below the neck and on the right side of his lower back.

FBI agents fired the other two shots before Finicum exited the vehicle, Nelson said. One missed the truck, while the other hit the truck's roof, the sheriff said.

QuoteFBI agents under investigation for possible misconduct in LaVoy Finicum shooting

BEND – An FBI agent is suspected of lying about firing twice at Robert "LaVoy" Finicium and may have gotten help from four other FBI agents in covering up afterward, authorities revealed Tuesday.

The bullets didn't hit Finicum and didn't contribute to his death, but now all five unnamed agents, part of an elite national unit, are under criminal investigation by the U.S. Justice Department. Inspector General Michael Horowitz is leading the independent inquiry.

The audio on the video is new information..hearing the shots fired brings a whole new reality to this farce.

Video shows two camera angles of LaVoy Finicum shooting.

In a video shown at a Deschutes County Sheriff's Office press conference today, the aerial FBI video of the LaVoy Finicum shooting has been synched with a cellphone video Shauna Cox recorded from within Finicum's truck.

UPDATE:

BOOM: FBI Agent Indicted in LaVoy Finicum Shooting

QuoteJune 28, 2017/by News Editor

By Maxine Bernstein. An FBI agent has been indicted on federal accusations that he lied about firing at Robert "LaVoy" Finicum last year as police arrested the leaders of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation.

The agent will face allegations of making a false statement with intent to obstruct justice, according to sources familiar with the case.

The indictment stems from a more than yearlong investigation by the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Justice. The agent will be identified when he's summoned to appear in U.S. District Court in Portland [today].

Investigators said a member of the FBI's elite Hostage Rescue Team fired at Finicum as his 2015 Dodge pickup truck crashed into a snow bank at a roadblock on U.S. 395. . .

As Finicum left his truck, an FBI agent shot twice at Finicum, though none of the hostage team members admitted to discharging their firearms, the Deschutes County sheriff alleged. The county sheriff's office was tasked with investigating the Finicum shooting.

The Oregon investigators concluded that one agent fired at Finicum's truck, hitting it in the roof and missing on the second shot. A state trooper later described to investigators seeing two rifle casings in the area where the FBI agents were posted. (Read more about the indictment that arises from Lavoy Finicum Shooting HERE)

FBI Agent Pleads Not Guilty to Lying About Finicum Shooting

By KGW. An FBI agent charged with lying about shooting at a key figure in last year's armed occupation of a national wildlife refuge in Oregon has pleaded not guilty to five felony charges.

W. Joseph Astarita briefly appeared in court Wednesday and was released on his own recognizance.

The agent's shots did not hit Robert "LaVoy" Finicum during a 2016 traffic stop, but soon afterward, Oregon State Police fatally shot the Arizona rancher after he reached toward a handgun in an inner pocket. (Read more from "FBI Agent Pleads Not Guilty to Lying About Finicum Shooting" HERE)

So the agent is in trouble for lying about firing? ... But his shots missed so that's that.
His shots set off the troopers firing, perhaps?  The only person in trouble over this then
so far is an FBI agent for lying.. ?  I just don't know what to think of all that.

I was doing a show in Oregon last fall, got to talking with a girl there who had known Le Voy and had just written a story about him that included an interview with him just hours before he was gunned down.   Unfortunately in the fray of the show I lost her and never ended up getting her name so I could read it.  Wanted to talk to her more about her time there as well.

The real solution is not to attract their attention in the first place; and the way you avoid that, is by avoiding large, entrenched groups.  Communities of 20+ people living in armed compounds are going to make a government paranoid, because they will start viewing them as a form of competition.  I was 13 years old when Waco happened, but I still knew exactly why it happened at the time.  Koresh had too many people behind him, and that makes the government very uncomfortable.  It was as simple as that.  All of the nonsense with the ATF was just what the government used as pretext for wiping him out, but it wasn't the real reason.

Remember:-  There is no such thing as legitimate governmental authority.  It does not exist.  Government survives by maintaining the lie of legitimacy, the public fear of lawlessness, and above all, a monopoly of violence.

The most fundamental way that a government stays in power, is by making sure that the number of men with guns that it has, is larger than the number of men with guns that anyone else has.  The main difference between America and Afghanistan, is that in America, the largest number of warlords are working in the same group.  Government is no less a crime syndicate than the Mafia; the only reason why it seems to be, is because it is the organisation that makes the laws, so of course it can claim that whatever it does is legal.  There is a vast difference, however, between laws which are made arbitrarily, and laws which have practical benefit to the stability of a society.

Most people do not think in terms of whether or not a given law is practically beneficial.  For most people, the law itself is viewed as an irreduceable point, and supposedly reductive thinking can go no further.  That is one of the most basic lies which government relies on in order to continue to exist.
