The Proximity Effect
In the early 90's, I overheard a middle aged woman at our local UFO group meeting say that she was having ongoing abductions and was happily helping out the greys with their hybrid breeding program.
She said she would be happy to talk about it.
I was actively doing field investigations every weekend at that point, so I asked for her contact info and said I would get ahold of her fairly soon for an interview.
A few weeks later on a weekday I contacted my investigation partner and we made arrangements to stop by her house.
On the way over to her house I was explaining to my partner about a phenomena I had just read about (I think it was in Jacobs new book at the time - The Threat, or maybe Crystals book - the Silent Invasion, anyways) called The Proximity Effect.
It turns out that family and friends of abductees are something like 10 times as likely as the general population to get abducted or maybe it was 20 times I forget the exact number but it was crazy high.
My partner was getting a little tense hearing about this as we were on our way to interview an ongoing abductee.
So we get there and are ushered in the house to the dining area right off the front door.
We listen to her for about a half hour about how much she loves the aliens and they are like relatives to her and she is so happy to be helping them out with the hybrid breeding program.
Suddenly the front door opens and it's her three teenage daughters home from school off the school bus.
Mom is in the middle of talking as they pass us by and they say "Hi Mom" as they pass through.
They stop at the end of the table and just silently stare at her.
Mom finally stops talking and looks at them and says "What?"
All three girls look over at me and my friend and then look back to Mom.
Mom says "It's ok, you can talk in front of them."
All three girls then pulled up the sleeves of their sweaters and turned their arms to show Mom three fresh pink scoop marks each on their inner forearms.
Mom said "Oh I see, from last night?"
They nodded then they went up to their rooms.
Mom explained the girls were starting to have visits now too.
My partner looked pretty pale at that point and kicked me under the table and made a motion with his head towards the door, like 'Let's get OUTTA here!!'
So we exchanged pleasantries and thanked her for her time and made our way towards the door.
On the ride home my partner was in shock and fretting about The Proximity Effect, after that interview.
