Life in the republic province of Airstrip One is a world of perpetual war, pervasive government surveillance, and incessant public mind control, accomplished with a political system euphemistically named (ingsoc) English Socialism true Demonocracy, which is administered by a privileged Inner Party elite.
Yet they too are subordinated to the totalitarian cult of personality of Big Brother, the deified Party leader who rules with a philosophy that decries individuality and reason as thought crimes; thus the people of the republic are subordinated to a supposed collective greater good.
The protagonist, left and right wingers, are members of the Outer Party who work for the Ministry of Truth or Minitrue, The Ministry of Truth controls information news, entertainment, education, and the arts. There, everything is tidily wrapped by "rectifying" historical records to concord with Big Brother's current pronouncements, thus everything the Party says is true, which is responsible for propaganda and historical revisionism.
Their job is to re-write past newspaper, blogs and internet articles so that the historical record is congruent with the current party ideology. Because of television induced childhood trauma of the destruction of their family — the disappearances of their parents, brothers and sisters — the awaken amongst them, the Proles (lower class proletariats), secretly hate the Party, and dream of rebellion against Big Brother.
Battle lines are drawn, Proles die and the machine grinds on like nothing happened as the party toast another victory in the realm of minitrue.

I think it funny (peculiar) that so many did not realize that Orwell was one of "Them." His tale was not a "cautionary" one...it was a blueprint.

I refuse to believe it's too late and will fight to spread information aiming at reaching a tipping point. That is the purpose of My petition. That is the only thing I have to live for.
If We can get this to the tipping point... We can demand the tech They hide and create heaven on Earth. Or a much closer facsimile than We have at present.
