I was wondering if it's true or not, that this video really is the first color recording? .. so I thought I'd post this and see if anyone knew of any color videos taken before 1976 ?

Well there are the early Utah 1952 and Montana 1950 color films, but not videotape.

I think both the Montana and Utah videos are fascinating, I've been study them for years.
I'm looking at the "50 years of ufo footage" compilation and already noticed some pre-1976 clips .... but they're probably not videotape because like you said the cams didn't really show up till later on.

You know, an interesting project I have not had time for yet, is to upload a copy of the Utah and Montana films separately,
and then youtube will tell you it has found ways to stabilize your footage, and would you like to try it?
I have used it on a couple of videos and it works quite well.
If you get a chance try that, I think the results will be quite interesting.
When trying to determine if footage is videotape, watch for the telltale horizontal distortion line along the bottom of the image.
You can clearly see it in the Guatemala footage you posted.
It's also visible in all my raw footage from A51.

Yes that's good info to remember because I've gotton so use to seeing digital video I sometimes forget to look for those clues when watching the older footage.
You should post one of your A51 vids in this thread so there's another example to look at.
