Google data protection laws.
Its been a few weeks since Google brought this in...
I have been avoiding using it since then and using other search engines...The annoying thing is I am unable to watch youtube either as they now own that..
I am wondering what, if anything , may they be upto getting us to review their privacy policy..other than reviewing some of their key points !
Is there much difference to what it was before I wonder..and by accepting are they monitoring us in other ways than before ?

This is what they ask us to read and accept..
Before you continue...
To be consistent with data protection laws, we're asking you to take a moment to review key points of Google's Privacy Policy. This isn't about a change that we've made – it's just a chance to review some key points.
We'll need you to do this in order to continue using Google services.

We also process the kind of information described above when you use apps or sites that use Google services like ads, Analytics and the YouTube video player.

I noticed they started doing that after all the debate about Windows 10 licence agreement, so it looks like they thought it was better to remind people of what they have agreed with.
I don't see anything unexpected there, only the usual data that is gathered by someone that is providing a service.
