Companies now using Voice recognition as security.
This may already apply to some places, but it is new to my experience.
Has anyone been told that when you call up a company that you are associated with such as maybe your bank, credit card or phone or broadband company that they are now using a new form of security...so that they do not have to go through the security checks when you call to check who you are..which often in the past may have required you to know a password or answer a few security related questions each time you call them..
I just called my Phone/ broadband company who told me we now have a new security system that recognizes your voice pattern..
They asked if I was Ok to accept them doing this...
I have declined for now...
I am not sure what to make of it !
It has some good points admittedly...
but its certainly big brother...
and it may seem all companies will now be bring this in..
Prior to this... the company had the annoying menu system that seems to be everywhere you call these days...that gives you information or asks you questions so they can put you to the right department...
That sometimes I have called just wanting to talk to customer services but had to go thru numerous menus before I was able to access the right menu option for it..
which wastes a lot of ones time sometimes..especially if one has to call again when one option may have failed.
I wonder did they do that deliberately rather than just take one to the right option in the 1st place....to be able to select Customer service on option one...
I called the post office yesterday and it went thru 4 menus before it gave me an option on the 4th to obtain customer service.
BY them doing this have they done it to annoy us all I wonder..
then when they bring out this new voice recognition service...people may feel happy to accept it as they get thru much quicker...
BUT the reality is these companies could have used a customer service option as a special selection early on in the call to save people time..
on some systems you can just press hash keys several times then it takes you to customer services..but that does not apply to all of them..
Are there any U.K members on PRC who may have been with Tiscali who got taken over Talk Talk, for their broadband / phone service ?
THIS VOICE RECOGNITION to me is now quite a real concern.
In my past I have often phoned places to make enquire's about certain things and wished to remain anonymous.
Now once this is brought in.. that will no longer be possible to remain undetected..
The only other possible option I could see if if one is able to obtain a voice box to try to make once voice sound different.
I wonder if the spy shops may create some type of James Bond type of device one can use to get around it...providing they are not part of the system.
It is also quite possible , that places have already been Voice recognition for some time ..
