Todd Ray, who runs the Venice Beach Freakshow in California, said he was sent the being's body by a mystery man who claimed it was laying in his back garden.
Mr Ray said: "I got a call from a guy in Arizona who said he found the dead creature in his yard.
"He was spooked by it and said it belonged in my freak show."
He was expecting to be sent photographs, but, instead some weeks later, the extraordinary specimen turned up in a box in a jar soaking in alcohol.
Mr Ray, who has the Guinness World Record for amassing the biggest collection of two-headed animals in the world, had no contact details on the package and is hoping the mystery finder will get in touch.

Venice Beach Freakshow is a collection of bizarre and unusual discoveries under one roof.
Mr Ray added: "The man told me it looked like it had gills under the head and that something was "growing out of it's head like a flesh antennae.
"This is the creature he told me about and it is stranger than I could have imagined. It is truly the most alien creature I have ever seen in my life.
"It is a mystery to everyone who sees it in person.
"It's about a foot long and has gill-like ear things below the head. It's got weird eyes and something out of its mouth that looks like a fleshy fang."

According to The Huffington Post, it contacted a number of zoology experts, who were unable to conclude what it was, with one suggesting it could have been put together from different animals.
Cristina Simmons of the San Diego Zoo said in an email: "It could certainly be an aborted/malformed fetus of any number of species but it appears to be an amalgam of different tissues.
"I can't help but notice that the tissue in the head appears to be embedded in the large 'piece' around it (and does not match in consistency or color), eyes and body do not appear to be from the same source as the facial tissue."
The Arizona Game and Fish Department, could only conclude it was mammalian-like, possibly a squirrel, deformed pig fetus or fetal bear still in the amniotic sac.

The department said DNA tests would be needed.
Mr Ray has confirmed he was willing have DNA tests carried out on the specimen.
He added: "This creature is proof there is always something strange under the sun."
Scott C waring, a UFO chaser, who runs website UFO Sightsings Daily, said: "It looks like a human-alien hybrid.
"One thing is clear, it's an infant. True evidence of genetic manipulation gone wrong."

Alien investigators tried to garner support for their theory that the mummy, reportedly removed from a Mayan tomb in Mexico, is an extra terrestrial and not a child mummy, as sceptics claim.
the 50-inch-long mummy was shown during a UFO conference in Sofia, Bulgaria, where several 'UFO experts" tried to convince the crowds its eyes were too big to be that of a human child, and its "near non-existent ears" mean it is also not of this world.

Alien conspiracy theorists claim there is evidence in major historical sites of ancient civilisations, such as the Mayyan and Egyptians, that they were visited by advanced alien races, that helped them build structures such as ancient pyramids.
These conspiracy theories were further boosted last week, when it emerged last week that during thermal tests on the ancient pyramids in Egypt, heat spot anomalies were found in three blocks at the base.

This prompted alien researcher Scott C Waring to claim it could be string evidence for the theory.
He said: "This anomaly is three very energy filled objects at the bottom of the pyramid.
"This could be the evidence we need to prove that it was created by ancient aliens and that they pyramid is more that a spectacle to look at."
The far-out theory contends that some of the alien visitors died on earth and were then buried by their human hosts in traditional ways.
Similar stories have emerged about mummies found in ancient Egyoptian tombs.

SHOCKING CLAIM: 'Living alien UFOs are regularly visiting Earth from space.

Several paranormal and alien websites claim to have obtained footage of bizarre entities drifting through the sky amid claims they are biological organisms.
In the latest clip, said to have been recorded in Mexico, a translucent light blue object has been described as moving "like a living, breathing animal" and almost swimming through the sky.
The footage, apparently recorded above Guadalajara, was uploaded to YouTube on May 3.
Die-hard alien believer Scott C Waring, who edits website UFO Sightings Daily, uploaded it and said: "It is not often you get to see a UFO that moves like a living, breathing animal, but this is one of those.
"Watch as it almost swims through the sky."
He is convinced space is riddled with such life forms, and added: "Such creatures do exist in space and have been recorded on live cam, but to see them in our sky, that is even moire rare."
Users of Mr Waring's website, who often support his analysis of such anomalies, were less than convinced, saying the "entity" had about as much life in it as a deflating helium balloon or a plastic bag on the wind.
Marshall Gatewood said: "I totally believe in UFOs, but that kind of looks like a torn blue bag caught in an air current."

Verve Stentor added: "Sorry to pee all over your chips, but it's a blue helium heart-shaped balloon with ribbon trailing behind it."
Regardless of the damning verdicts, Alberto Ibarra, who originally posted the clip to YouTube, has previously uploaded a host of other strange objects performing airborne acrobatics that he has recorded while at work.
These include strange bright objects descending or spinning to Earth, some of which look suspiciously like plastic bags, although Mr Ibarra stresses this is not possible.
In the UFO community these objects are known as "UFO Variables" which they describe as "integrated plasmatic systems of variable morphology."
Some in the alien believer community even suggest these "variable" are a form of life so highly evolved that a craft and a living being have merged to create these objects.
Others have called them Unidentified Anomalous Biological Entities.
Dr Franklin Ruehl, a US ufologist with a PhD in theoretical nuclear physics, has suggested biologic entities dubbed 'Zeroids' are living in outer space and are capable of surviving in zero temperature and zero atmospheric pressure conditions.
He claims they may have developed from organic mixtures found in space and could be one of the first lifeforms to develop in space - independent of planets.

A GREEN energy expert, who helped shape UK renewable power policies, says he is convinced aliens have been secretly implanting extra terrestrial DNA into pregnant humans.

Author Miguel Mendonça, 42, now claims the so-called alien-hybrid community is expanding on Earth and vital to the future of the human race because of how they are helping us "evolve into higher beings".
Mr Mendonça, who suffers with MS, the illness that leaves suffers with neurological symptoms, muscle pain and severe physical and mental exhaustion, even feels better with increased energy levels for having regular contact with the hybrids, although he stressed it could not cure his condition.
He said: "It's made no difference to my condition, but I do feel better on some levels."
Mr Mendonça, from Bristol, was formerly research manager for the World Future Council, which promotes best policy renewable power sources, and has written extensively on green energy policy.
However, for his latest publication, Meet The Hybrids: The Lives And Missions of ET Ambassadors On Earth published by Amazon and co-authored with Barbara Lamb, he spent time interviewing eight people who claim they have grown up with implanted alien DNA in their bodies and are part of a mission to improve mankind.
Ms Lamb has held great interest in the claims since she first heard them and has been an alien abduction researcher since the 1980s.
Mr Mendonça said he began the project with an open mind, but after finishing the research was convinced they were telling the truth and thinks he has now solved the mystery of why UFOs allegedly visit the Earth.

Thunder Energies Corporation, an optics, nuclear physics and energy company, claims to have detected "invisible entities" living in Earth's atmosphere.
The corporation is run by controversial Harvard-educated Italian-American nuclear physicist Dr Ruggero Santilli.
He is dismissed by many mainstream scientists as a "fringe scientist" but he has in turn branded the rejection of his work as a conspiracy against "novel science" which often conflicts with established thinking, such as Einstein's theory of relativity.
The nuclear physicist says the discovery was made using the Santilli Telescope he has developed to try to discover proof of theoretical anti-matter galaxies, anti-matter cosmic rays and anti-matter asteroids.
The research team even fears the previously unknown micro-lifeforms may be carrying out covert surveillance on Earth because of where they have been found.

His telescope is still pending a trade mark and patent, but Mr Santilli is convinced it has been able to pick up a life form which cannot be seen by the naked eye.

He said: "The question of what those entities are must be answered by our government because these entities appear to be conducting unauthorised surveillance of rather sensitive civil, industrial and military installations."
Dr George Gaines, president of the corporation, is also fully backing the research.
He said: "What we have learned is reality is much bigger than we originally supposed.
"Things we can see and things we can't see with our eyes or standard telescopes.
"The Santilli telescope allows us to see things that we have never seen before."
