Title: WEBSITE RESTRUCTURING
Post by: zorgon on July 23, 2016, 11:35:40 PM
WEBSITE RESTRUCTURING

A long and tedious project to be sure :P

Along with thelivingmoon files to redo (fix outdated links redo ALL the music and video links with a new stand alone iframe so they no longer are dependent on browser plugins) I have my Medieval site to work on..

That and getting the store pages up and working

So  As I finish sections I will paste them here  (more to give me a record of completed work but also so you guys can look at them :P )

This section is under the Land of Legends pages  Many old members of the Guild created some pages on topics they liked  So I have been working on the Old Member section and updating what I can and fixing the old files

First section

Samantha's Domain

Samantha was a good friend for many years but as many members, she moved away and is no longer in touch. I did just recently get email from another old member who is now in Ireland and on FB :P

Samantha is lesbian and did a section on poetry and vampires  I have fixed it up so it all works complete and I will likely add to it at some point

Another section that I completed is

CHRONICALS OF GOR

GOR is a planet that shares the same orbit as Earth but is always at the opposite side of the Sun

This was from a series of sci fi books written by John Norman

The Chronicles of Counter-Earth, The Saga of Tarl Cabot etc  Alos the Preist Kings of Gor who are praying mantis Aliens that run the planet

These books were written in the 60's  same time frame as Star Trek but contain a lot of sword fighting

I suppose you could say they fed (or created) both my interests in aliens and medieval stuff

They recently made a movie of it but it doesn't touch the original stories

A lot of the art work was done by Boris Valejo   Fantasy warriors and such

Still checking all the links but so far looks like its fixed

I see wikipedia now has a good page on it :D

Robin of Sherwood

This was an ols BBC TV series that is a very realistic version of Robin Hood  They managed to show how both Robin of Loxley and Robert Huntington came to be Robin Hood

I have the entire series on DVD

Mark Ryan who played Nassir the Arabian Assasin, lives in california and trains movie actors in sword fighting. When we were working on our theme park idea he was going to attend our first event (fund raiser) He asked me if we would like Jason Connery to tag along LOL Jason, Sean Connery's son, played Robert Huntington in the series  (We also had Kevin Sorbo and Pat Morita lined up) Too bad we never got it going   :-[

MYSTS OF AVALON

Mysts of Avalon is/was our Renaissance Guild's Fantasy Area for Elves, Faeries etc...  This area of the Guild I plan to rebuild first this fall and try to get an online group going.

The original formation of our group came about from an old online game  LONG before the internet It was a simple silly little text game that ran on local buletin boards We ran Wildcat BBS

That is where King Zorgon was born... the name of the game is Legend of the Red Dragon by Seth Able the Bard...

Now that game was boring but it was the first online game that allowed text messages between players

So the idea was to kill the dragon and that reset the game and you got added to the hero list.  Well a bunch of us formed a team and we PROTECTED the dragon :P  Hehehe  pissed people off because they couldn't win

One day on of the team players said "maybe we can take this live. I am a member of a local renfaire group, The Empire of Chivalry and Steel"

So that was it  we met at the renfaire in Vegas and created the history of the guild. (that section is still under repair) Then as the years went by people came and went but were always written into the story

So the Guild was set up as Ports of Call with every group having their own Port  It worked really well because each group was in control of their own Port

MYSTS OF AVALON is the Fantasy Posrt and I have been working on updating that area (and part of the story)

Just a brief background. The name Zorgon originally came from an old obscure text where Zorgon (sometimes Zargon) was a general of Uther Pendragon. In the game Legend of the Red Dragon there is a Tavern that sits on the road in the forest just before you reach the field of flowers (where the Faeries play)  The Tavern is called the Darl Cloak Tavern and has a secret entry into the Dragon Mountain.

That field of flowers also appears in the Arthurian Legends and is mentioned in the poem Lady of Shalott (who is a faerie)

So we tied both stgories together and created a very detailed history  Any one interested can read it soon as I am almost done repairs on that

Since the Elves and Faeries are one of my favorites :P  I worked on that first. Still have a lot to add and many photos from event still need scanning as this was before digital camers but it is ready

This is the Opening Portal (http://landoflegendslv.com/03ports/mystsofavalon/index.html)

I had a lot of old MIDI player files that were traditional music and finally found a player that plays ALL files and does so independant of browsers or plugins :D

Follow the links as it takes you through part of the story.  Seth Able Robinson (The bard) who created the game now lives in Japan. Turns out he was a long standing member of the SCA (which we learned later) and The bard was his society name (as mine is Zorgon of Shalott)

When we created the detailed history we combined the game story line with that of the QArthurian legend written in the poem "The Lady of Shalott"

Here is a MAP :P

There was a reason for that actually  SHORT LIFESPANS

Most Knights were teens  you got married by 12 or were an old maid :P  Your lifespan was around 40-50 years

But somehow it seems those years were actually longer than they are now so you got more done :D

hell yeah it seemed longer

no indoor plumbing for starters  pick the wrong leaf and you were hurting bigtime

if you were lucky you had two whole outfits..so you weren't neked as you beat  your one outfit on a rock to get the dirt out after wearing it for weeks

travel by foot or maybe horse..the horse always got fed first

no 9 to 5 to bitch about

on and on

no cheers from me on the good old days.. i like me roof and mattress and shower

bwhahahahahahahahahahah

Actually you mean the rich, I am pretty sure the poor looked haggard, dirty and didn't get gold for their hair. True women wore dresses which is nice and I love the way the men dressed, but the poor ended their days in rags I would bet. My own hair touches the ground and I am 60 so I really like that women didn't cut their hair. With their poor diet I would think their hair did not shine and feel silky either. pictures always show nice teeth, doubt that  :'(

I like it :) Looks like maybe you were once redheaded? Something about the reds we seem more attached to our hair! Mine was the color of a new penny very heavy and thick as I can see yours is also, kind of dull now still thick but half what it was but still only a tad of gray on the temples. I'll be catching up to you soon! :)

:) brown is nice my husbands are brown. Don't know if this is accurate but when you have something a little different why not appreciate  ;D ;D My eye are green, my neg blood type Mother has silver/slightly violet eyes depending on the light.

I have noticed many browns have an amber in them and sometimes even greens in there.

QuoteI think someone else on Quora asked and answered this, but here it is again: brown 55%, blue 8%, hazel 8% and green 2%. The rest are silver (rare) and amber (quite rare) and albinoid violet (extremely rare). Blue eyes were found in Neanderthal remains.
