The thought struck me that Russia and China seem to generally follow a sort of "Prime Directive" globally while the US and its allies do not. The US constantly intervenes and interferes with the internal affairs of other nations while its opponents prefer dealing with standing national governments. Indeed, China made a point of this in Africa - where appreciation has been openly expressed for such noninterference. Local cultures there particularly object to the US trying to force its views on gender/gay issues that conflict with age old customs.
The fact that such interventions end badly (Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Syria....) does not seem to phase the warmongers a bit. The land that gave the world StarTrek has not learned from its wisdom.
