Remember this gem I posted early on?

Just wanted to let you know about the Fukushima Impact so far.

Approximate impact of Cs-137 pollution on Pacific Ocean.

1 curie (named after Madame Curie who discovered radiation in a mineral called pitchblende) equals 37 BILLION Becquerels of radiation.

1 uc = 37,000, radiations per second.

For Cesium-137 it is 88 Curies per gram.

So 1 gram of Cesium-137 is 3,256 billion becquerels per second.
3,256,000,000,000 radiations per second.
99,959,279,200,000 becquerels per second per ounce
5,997,556,752,000,000 becquerels per minute from 1 ounce of Cs-137.

There are 1,231 spent fuel rods with about 35% is Cs-137.

A rod is 48.09 lbs.
about 20,721 lbs Cs-137
322,160 oz of Cs-137
28.3495 gm to oz.

So 9,133,076 grams of Cs-137 in 1231 fuel rods.
A gram of Cesium-137 produces 3,256 billion becquerels of radiation per second.

So the total radiation per second from 9,133,076 grams of cs-137 is: 29,737,298,640,498,000,000 atoms emitting radiation per second.

A little doom here; We just might be dead but lets be sure.

1 cubic mile of sea water is 777,205,186,560,000 cubic feet.

So 7.71682543518 is the Cubic Foot radiation per second per cubic mile.
So in 1 day there are 666,733.717599549 emitted radiation happening in a cubic foot per day mile.

There are about 63,800,000 square miles of Pacific Ocean.
Average depth is about 2.28 miles.

There are 145,464,000 cubic miles in the Pacific Ocean.

Cs-137 has a double decay process 94.6% of the time; first a beta ray, then a gamma ray.
So each cubic foot of the entire Pacific Ocean will have 218.174056838937 Beta radiation events per day.

So each cubic foot of the entire Pacific Ocean will have 206.392657769635 Gamma radation events per day.

This is the Cs-137 radiation breakdown pattern: [link to en.wikipedia.org]
This describes what a Gamma ray is. [link to en.wikipedia.org]
This describes what a Hertz is. [link to en.wikipedia.org]

Gamma rays have higher energy than X-rays, and they are ionizing radiation just like X-rays.

The summary is 218 plus 206 divided by 34 or 12.47058.
The number 34 is the average background radiation of the N. American continent.

The Pacific Ocean will have a "radiation fog" in every cubic foot of water that is 12.47 times HIGHER than the average background radiation count of North american continent.

Sea life will be effected in some manner; perhaps all fish will get cancer.

The impact on humanity is a shortage in sea food.

No swimming allowed until radiation levels abate to a "safe level";

:( :( :( So sad this has been going on for so long without an appropriate reaction from humanity!  We should have instantly come together world wide to stifle this huge problem.......I said this once before and I'll say it again since I got favorable acceptance from some government peoples.  They told me it was a good idea and could be feasible.....I had an idea that a subterranean nuke could be used to evacuate a space below the site and then push all the wreckage in and cover it.......   This was several years ago and since then I have not heard anything regarding clean-up other then basic grab and bag method's.
Its good to see ya still at it Thor, maybe we can get something started here on Peggy if the right people read this. lol  Even just getting an idea out into the either is a start. We can back up that idea with hope, big bucket's full of hope!.... 8) 8) 8)

I read the article and the argument that is proposed makes sense. While any nuclear accident is terrifying, and the possibility of further deaths due to the accidents is sill in play, so far, the safety of the populace seems to be ok. So Far!  ::)
Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini Tuo da gloriam

WhatTheHey

I must agree it seems so now! However I would add this, for many of the sailors that were deliberately exposed to the radiation from the bombs at the Bikini Island tests.(My father was one.) The symptoms/illnesses they contracted from said exposure didn't show up for many years. For many, like my dad symptoms came up decades after they were exposed. And indeed even the children of these sailors have been born with conditions related to the parents exposure.
My dad had cysts growing all over the front of his forearms (He held his arms up to shield him self.) and parts of his upper chest area as well. He suffered decades after exposure with multiple types of cancer.  My brothers and sister have all had abnormal cancers and conditions like extra bones, bone cancer, skin cancer, epilepsy and other things.
So it can take many years even decades for related health issues to show up among humans and in the environment as well. Radiation related illnesses can take a very long time to make them selves known, even generations!   ;)

Unclear debris map casts shadow over decommissioning of Fukushima plant

The material that was lifted in the survey mostly comprised pebble-like sediment, weighing less than 1 kilogram in total. Meanwhile, fuel debris generated in the core meltdowns is estimated to total 237 metric tons at the No. 2 reactor alone and a combined 880 tons at the No. 1 through No. 3 reactors.

10 Disturbing Facts About the Aftermath of the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster

ᴴᴰ [Documentary] Fukushima - Radioactive Forest

The Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011 turned the surrounding towns into a desolate land, making the area into a "radioactive forest". Without human presence, the land is roamed by wildlife like civets, macaques and wild boars. A project is underway to study the deserted areas by attaching a camera to wild boars to record the conditions of the former farmlands. 5 years after the disaster, we take a close look at how radiation has affected the wildlife, and what it entails for us humans.

Enough!

The Nuclear Cartel - a deadly sinister and cynical force within America's political establishment, economic and scientific elite - is desperately trying to prevent aware Americans from recovering this nation's foundational values of civic duty, ethical responsibility and common sense and are taking this nation down the well-beaten path to Hell with the unsolvable nuclear waste conundrum.

This travesty must be understood as to the possible ELE implications and dealt with immediately. May we postulate that there are now two broad paths before us: the unsustainable nuclear train wreck that is currently forced upon us which will ultimately lead to worldwide disaster and the sustainable one we must strive for which can lead to life and prosperity for all in a nuclear-free world.

Unfortunately continuing government cover-ups, intelligence agency sabotage, nuclear industry greed, national media collusion and suppression, and malevolent special interest group agendas continue to exasperate existing problems and create new ones rather than provide solutions. If permitted to continue unabated, the ultimate end game is a dead planet.

We, the people, must also strive for deeper insights into ourselves and each other, as well as the mutual recognition of our shared past, current mutual interests and common future. In so doing, we will be poised for a major leap in the evolution of humankind which will be used to literally save the world from the continued nightmare of nuclear energy.
