If it's as "full contact" as they say why do they have the opponent to the left instead of the right? Having the opponent to the left was only used in the more "relaxed" versions, as the impact is not as strong as a direct one. :)

I have never seen a horse closer than some 50 metres, but I think I still have my childhood wooden sword, somewhere (I rarely throw things away ;D ).
