Here is a short story from Asimov called 'The Last Question'. It's an audio book, so you won't tire your eyes with it.
It deals with the 'heat death' of the universe, as postulated (& mathematically formulated) by Schodinger.
A very interesting story, with only one possible outcome.....

However, the preconception that energy is 'generated' & then 'used' is not real at all. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, merely 'moved' from one space, time, or dimension to another.
Entropy may in fact lead to a situation where all matter & energy is equally spread out in the universe. There will be no difference in potential between any 2 points anymore......
Enjoy the ending ;)

PWM, that was absolutely brilliant!! LOL And I love the ending, thank you for sharing this with us.
I too am a better person for having asked questions, but then again, I may have gotten nothing for the inquiry!! LOL
I am truly laughing my arse of right now, such a great example of "Human Nature!!"

lol.
well pwm,you found something we disagree on.
in my world ,we are locked between two walls .
the black hole wall and the star wall.
the blackhole sucks it in and spits out photons.the photons energize mass to turn into star clouds that turn into stars.
ive never been much for rules.
being me has its priviledges.
