I was 3 miles from the Pakistan border on a small COP (combat outpost)  I remember standing on the roof of one of only three buildings on the COP that was used as the chow hall and also the Alamo if things hit the fan. I was looking off in the distance to points of interest and smoking a cigar with a couple of friends. I noticed some lights over the horizon to the north of us. There were three orange lights (i want to say in a triangular formation) but they were oriented in a way as if the triangle of lights were flat and I was looking at them from the side. I knew it wasn't military aircraft for a few reasons.

#1) They were stationary and unblinking.

#2) They weren't the color of normal aircraft lights, the kind aircraft have to display their position visually at night.
#3) In the area I saw the lights, nobody would fly that low and display their position so prominently unless they were asking to get shot at by plenty who would try.
#4) We don't have aircraft that TELEPORT...

I saw the lights wink out slowly, and then reappear further away, still remaining stationary. We watched them for a while all venturing guesses as to what it could be, but everything we knew (very familiar with military aircraft for good reason) wouldn't fit with what we were seeing. The lights then disappeared and reappeared back where we originally saw them, and in the same formation. I could tell the distance between the two positions I saw the lights was several kilometers and the amount of time it took them to wink out and move would have been extremely fast.

Wish I had a camera with a good zoom at the time, but at least I can remember it clearly and that is enough for me.  :D

A good description is as good as a photo. :)

Interesting story, do you know if there were any other unusual events in the area, UFO related or not?

Deathcoyote

Well now that you mention it I remembered something kind of important, can't believe I forgot this at first. Whatever it was, wasn't detected on radar. I confirmed that :D

Amaterasu

I must say, I haven't had anything quite as spectacular as far as sightings go.  Awesome!  Some day Our phones will have the quality and ability that today only specialty equipment have.

Thanks for sharing!

could there have been two sets of lights..turning off and on to signal one another?
as opposed to one craft moving?

Deathcoyote

I suppose that's possible. But I am convinced because of my own personal knowledge, that they weren't military craft, and they were also not being tracked by radar. I don't think the last part is because of stealth capability but because of the nature of how some radar systems work. But I can only go by what I know.
