UFO on the Island of Trinidad (Brazil January 16 1958)

This year was  an "early bird". A few days into 1958 and there had been another "classic" case in world ufology. On January 16, fifteen minutes after noon, the Brazilian cruiser Almirante Saldanha training was anchored offshore Trinidad port. The Navy ship carrying 300 men from Brazil and performed a series of experiments basins, linked to the International Geophysical Year.



While the ship flew, Saldanha engines failed, and all power delbuque. The compass turned mad and changed radio frequencies, radio signals fading. Both the captain of the cruiser as officers immediately wanted to see the pictures of Barauna. So they went to the ship's laboratory. The development was carried out in front of several of these officers of the Brazilian Navy, while the commander of the ship itself, Carlos A. Bacellar, holding a red lens flashlight. In the absence of photo paper copies in Saldanha, witnesses had to be content with watching the negatives.

As had appreciated visually many of the sailors, the UFO that appeared on the negatives seemed metallic spheroid, flattened and grayish. He wore a ring, similar to the planet Saturn. This "ring" turned quickly. The object gave off a reddish-orange hue, which was accompanied, during a march-green fluorescent glow. This greenish halo disappeared almost completely when the UFO hovered over the island.



The speed of the object was calculated by the officers and sailors in 600 km per hour. Its dimensions were calculated in about 100 feet (30 meters) in diameter by 20 (about six meters) high. The photos were analyzed extensively and eventually declared authentic by the Government and the Brazilian Navy. The President himself, Mr. Kubitschek, ratified this authenticity.
