gardening is the only place this fits..

I have to share this.. it speaks to so many things ..

hubby has been wanting chickens for ever
..but we really haven't wanted to raise peeps (five cats)and obviously haven't put in the time
to hunt for pullets already laying..
so what does he find...
an ad for rent a chicken...REALLY..lol
and it is so cool

they rent you two chickens  the feed , coop and tell you what to do
the deliver it all in may and come and get it back in nov..

talk about enterprizing

I am laughing with joy.. and had to share.. you want to see their web site go to
rent the chicken dot com

i don't think we will rent them.. well maybe..but a place to find pullets just dropped from the sky..
cabin fever is soooo strong right now that we may just rent them..
hahahahah

Aurora is going to start allowing back yard chickens.  No roosters.  Of course the roosters up the street are grandfathered in because the property has been in the family forever.  The dumb things go off at all hours.  Two o'clock in the morning.  It's sunrise somewhere!  If I got chickens the cats would probably be afraid of them.  And the raccoons would eat them.  I'll stick to buying my pre-packaged chicken at the store.  And I don't really care about the eggs.  Hubby likes fried eggs over medium.  I think those things just look like cooked eyeballs.  ick.

The full egg is really good for us. Just saw another article this past week that again was discussing that fact.

But then, eggs are the first by-product of the bugs and etc that the chickens eat, if they are allowed to be out in the open. :)

I do like eggs, but then there is that little white stringy thingy attached to the yellow that I do try to get out before cooking! Just makes me feel better with it not being there!  ;)

That little white stringy thingy thing is the baby chicken and the yoke is its food. No? All of which will be consumed before birth.

No, the thing that becomes the baby chicken is a small white spot on the yolk, and the yolk is its food.
Those stringy things are there to keep the yolk at the centre of the egg.

PS: this page shows the best version I could find. :)

Now I have chicken songs stuck in my head.   ::)

holy crap.. what a strange bunch of stuff on here.. good thing pim hasn't dropped in
bwhahahahahahah

well we got the invoice from the chicken people and it was laughable..while the idea was great
they added on another 24 bucks for tax and andother 50 for organic feed for a grand total of 424 bucks ..
ok so while it is a great idea.. that really puts the price of eggs in a crazy place

so i called my friend today her blacksmith gives pullets away.. and  hubby can make a chicken coop real easy...so i'll get a nice gift card for dinner somewhere for the blacksmith and away we go..

sometimes life is very entertaining..

::)

Sounds like the chickens from the chicken people need to lay golden eggs.
