Sinny

So it's my 23rd birthday in two weeks, and since the age of 18 I have treated my self to a tattoo each year.

Unfortunatley my brain appears to have stopped working recently and I've lost all artistic inspiration - having said that I do not wish to break tradition.

Hense I'm seeking somebody to inspire me before I wake up disappointed that day :(

You guys are mostly aware of the inner workings of my brain and I'm hoping some of you could provide some idea's?

I currently have an infinity tattoo, a chinese dragon, my virgo star sign and a few 'dark' flowers.

I have been considering an angel and a demon on each shoulder, with the intention of their faces each covering one shoulder, however I can't seem to find the art work that has the feel I'd like.

All idea's welcome..

Here's some random tidbits:

Gothic artwork,
Celtic artwork,
Geometric art work,

Or maybe something random - I'm hoping to start on my shoulders/arms...

One in 5 of us will get the big C anyway, and i wouldnt want to cover myself in pictures, but i have thought of having the 2 Shaolin tattoos done on my wrists (rather than burn them in by picking up an iron bowl filled with hot coals LOL) call it the modern alternative ;D

This is the official dragon, i have the tiger somewhere......

Badger (Ogham = Holly)
The badger does a lot of digging, and in esoteric symbolism this links the animal to the earth - a very grounded, nurturing, foundational energy. Furthermore, the burrowing badger is a symbol of magic, because this act is symbolic of returning to the Source. Burrowing into the earth is also akin to returning to the womb in metaphorical symbolism. This connects with the Holly because it is a hearty plant in one of the most brutal seasons - Winter. Holly is the winter king to the Celts, and the badger is equally regal in fierce will to survive (even under the most brutal circumstances). Holly and badger are symbols for survivors and strong will.

Crow (Ogham = The Elder Tree)
I love crows and ravens for their attitude. They do what they want, when they want and they'll tell you to "stow it" if you don't like it. You've got to admire that kind of gumption. As Celtic animal symbols, the crow stands for individuality with blazon disregard to what others think. Further, the crow is deeply honored by the Celts as an augury oracle. Crows carry big secrets stuffed betwixt their black feathers. Celts knew this, and were wise to let them have their way (indeed, killing a crow was a felony under Druidic rule). What kind of secret powers do you have? And, are you too concerned about what everybody else thinks to even entertain the idea of exploring your powers? If you get flak from others about your uniqueness, make like a crow, and tell them to stow it.

Great post Sky ;D
Seems i'm part salmon, part bee, and not a dragon on the list!

i was going to suggest a tattoo of the farmers reply to crop circles;

Hey Sinny, now I understand why you comment as you do, at times - 23 years old. Congrats on your upcoming birthday! Age for us all is different in many ways, but we all do share a particular common similarity. That is, the older we get the more our thinking changes. I am 50 years past your 23, but I can remember that @ 23, I thought I knew a lot. But, as I progressed in age, and as I continued to learn more about every aspect of work and life, I realized in looking back, I just didn't know what I didn't know at age 20's. Life is a continuing learning project, and we kinda vacuum all of it up that we can!!

Now, on that basis, my guess is, if you were to wait 23 years before you would get your next "Tattoo", you would never have "another" tattoo, because age learning and maturity overcomes  some of the offhand thoughts and desires of our younger lives. EVERYTHNG CHANGES AS WE AGE!

You want a tattoo now, get it!! Just making a point of my experience - and no, I do not have any tattoos, but I have a grandson (former USMC) who is 28 years old that has several nice big ones! :)
