Until this week,  I thought I was working for a pretty decent company.   I asked for my hours back in accordance with the provisions of FMLA.   The company refused.   They hired someone to cover my nursing visits while I was off for my shoulder surgery.   There aren't enough hours for both of us,  so they want me to just wait to get hours.   I filed a complaint today,  with the Department of Labor.   I've spoken with an attorney,  and will pursue a civil suit If I have to.

My partake in the slave system is getting pretty tiring also.

New directors been with us for a couple of months (third one in as many years), called me in to 'get to know me', also for the third time this year.

This one reckons I seem 'laid back' and 'unfocused'.

And seems to think the 2 hours worth of filing I have to do is some sort of major problem.

I had to refrain from informing her I appear to be 'laid back' and 'unfocused', because in comparison to the rest of the team (of 8 ), I don't need something repeated to me ten times over, and I'm perfectly competent in my work which means I'm not running around like a headless chicken as are the rest of the staff, who by the way are nearing retirement age and can just about log on to a PC.

Honestly.

Damned if I do, and damned if I dont.

Seems like there just always has to be an issue, even when there isn't one.

Filed my complaint with DOL yesterday.   Today,  I got a group email informing the replacement nurse that the supervisor does indeed,  by law,  have to give my nursing visits back to me.

Otter, thank you so much for the hugs.  I have been a true basket case recently.   Going to the doctor Friday,  to get some kind of short term stress meds.

Sinny, you are too funny when you talk about retirement age.   One of the R'S I work with is younger than my daughter.   I work circles around her sometimes.  But I can relate to what you're saying.   Try telling the chiefs that you don't feel the need to make a career of a twenty minute task.

I don't mean to deliberately offend when I speak, there are plenty of older people out there still far more sharper than the younger generations, (most of us all are now full of heavy metals, and under constant EM bombardment), unfortunely, in the context that I mean in this instance, my co-workers have unfortunetly slowed with age.

The eldest and dearest (no sarcasm), has not long recovered from life and death cancer. He is extremely keen to be continue to be the successful and busy man he always has been, but honestly - he is not fit for work in the way the business requires.

Our staff are so mis-matched we could make a sort of 'carry - on' sitcom. Haha.

As a twenty something, amongst a small team of 40-60's, I find they do keep calling attention to the strangest things. As I say, being 'laid back', and 'unfocused' is a concern of theirs, but my work can't be faulted, and so they're now resorting to my very reasonable and 'to be expected' amount of filing.

It's the age of the internet, we've all learnt to absorb info in a faster more efficient manner. I feel as though I'm punished for being able to do this without much a 'to do', and without much facial expression ..

That's why your retirement age comments make me laugh.   I've been on your end, and now I'm pushing 60.  So much has changed just in my lifetime.   We used to have a party line telephone.   Now my 12 year old grandson has a cell phone.   Which was really a good thing the day his sister broke her collarbone at school.   The school refused to call my daughter,  or let Rowan call.  Donovan whipped out that cell phone.  The kids are all attending better schools now.   You just don't mess with safety.
