I too belong to a group...  this group is made up of some really big guys :P They come from the police, the military even the FBI...

We number about 45,000 strong across the USA...  we are not brainwashed :P

We have the old skills to survive in style...  I can imagine when the SHTF these people will step up to the plate to lead the masses

We have equipment to 'rough it' on a moments notice...  and when bullets are in short supply crossbows, bow and arrow and swords will serve  :D

The FBI has us OFFICIAL listed as "The World's largest private army :D

On the outside it may look like we are just a bunch of historical nuts :P

But I personally can set up my own FEMA camp that will support 40 to 60 people

TRUE STORY

There used to be a full Barony on the USS Nimitz  Fighte practice on the flight deck in full armor.  Apparently they did not have to salute a passing officer  Seems they were getting people knocked out saluting with metal gaunlets on :P

This is serendipitous. I've been considering swords for some time. I know nothing. Especially what to look for or how to decide what company to go with. I have a few things bookmarked for when they time is right financially for a purchase, including:

http://www.albion-swords.com/index.html
https://darksword-armory.com/product/anduril-sword-elite-series-1603/

and this seemingly helpful article:

http://www.sword-buyers-guide.com/buy-swords-online.html

Any recommendations? Are the two companies I've linked reputable?
I really like the LOTR Anduril sword. Is Darksword Armory a company you'd recommend?

Depends on what you want the sword for :P

A decoration, for costume or for real

zorgon

LORT swords make great displays but even with them there are good ones and cheap cast metal knock offs

For a working sword you want 1040 carbon steel or Damascus steel  depends on how much you want to spend

I have a  William Wallace by Procut  1040 carbon steel stainless steel grips

I think I can still get them from my supplier

zorgon

Damascus steel is multiple folded   up to 1000 times for the best

It looks like THIS

I just picked up a nice dagger at the last Pirate fest for $40.00  the grip is also Damascus

Similar to this one

I'd like something exquisitely  beautiful that additionally  possesses  all the utility one would require in a dire, global zombie apocalypse or similar SHTF situation.

Not in a rush just yet. Perhaps within the next 12 months, depending on finances. The examples you posted do seem to fit the exquisite/utilitarian parameters I've described.

Also, thank you for the thumbs up on the two links I had questions about that I posted.

Perhaps we can continue this conversation by PM off the thread to keep it on topic.

And I really appreciate your guidance: It strikes me as very similar to buying a car, and I don't want to choose poorly.
