WARNING !

QuoteBeware of this URL Link ...on the related "X Files" Thread referred to below....

http://www. subsmovies.com/watch?movie=4549938s

It could lead you to a obtaining a text web popup page with a recorded message suggesting that your Computer has a virus and you need to telephone someone to have them help you remove it..

The X-Files' Is Returning After 13 Years .

http://www.thelivingmoon.com/forum/index.php?topic=8089.msg121462#msg121462

I was able to watch the "X Files Movie" last night OK..

Then..I spotted Zorgon had posted another URL link to the 2nd part...but his links didnt work for me in the U.K, like the Link Funbox posted here..for Sub movies dot com..

I decided to see if I could find Part 2 on Sub movies...ie the same site as Part one..and did find a link to Part 2..

Upon clicking on it.... I got a POP Up open up..

(and I had a few popups occur before when I watched part 1..and had re watched parts of it again by re clicking on when I re clicked the URL to restart the video if I recall.)

When I clicked on the link to Part Two..

I had a VERY BAD experience.. >:(
(No disrespect to Funbox... He was unlikley to be aware)

The Pop up that opened came up with a TEXT Message.. that said that I had a Virus on my computer and that I had to Call a Telephone number to get it removed...It was warning me that my computer was at MAJOR risk and maybe being Hacked or something along those lines..

I was however able to take a screen shot of part of it..

It referred to something or a website called ancient 3.4004 5001 . info  and the Tel Number was 0808 1780037

Otherwise I was UNABLE to Close the page or do anything on my computer.. and I had to pull the plug to close it down..

After trying to close the webpages prior.. it even started a recorded message...not just the text and the more one tried to close anything... the voice recordings increased accordingly... so I had maybe 5 recordings of it prior to pulling the plug..

I have heard of similar things occurring..but normally I think you could just close the link..

I don't think that the incident is a real virus attack..as I have been able to restart my computer and it seems OK..

I think their aim is to get you to call them and ask to charge you by your credit card before they offer to tell you how they can help you resolve it..

At least that's what I am hoping.. ie that I have not been fully targeted...but I may have to do a full check to make sure or run a new AV program..

Alt & F4 to close window without clicking anything. New Windows 10 has removed this wonderful shortcut so I am not sure what alternative there is with the new OS.

Thanks for the info...tip..E113.

I was on a older version of Windows....

I am not one that knows or can recall the Keyboard processes to control the computer...I am just so used to just clicking with the mouse.

although I was aware of " Control -  Alt - Delete" that I think brings up Task manager to allow you to select a webpage and close it.....but in the panic...I overlooked trying it...as at the time nothing was seeming to work and my computers not always responsive to that instruction..

So it maybe OK to try it again...as long as its unlikely to cause any issues..as the pop ups can vary as to what comes up ...

my apologies for the scare , I really do take those annoying adverts to buy antivirus software for granted these days , they can be a plague of the streaming and torrents sites.. I forget sometimes not everyone gets stuff for free, and crawling through landmine ridden sites is probably not best suited for most.

as for the second episode, I tried looking on subs , but ended up torrenting it.

sorry again folks for those that may have got a jump

No, Alt + F4 still closes any window that has a close button, I do it all the time.

Hi Funbox,

I do not blame you for what happened.. I appreciated you giving us the Website..

what happened was unfortunate at the time..and may or may not have become a big problem if it had infected ones computer..

I have not had too many problems clicking on websites for sometime.. so it tends to be more rare these days that one gets a virus..thankfully

what seemed to happen from what I can see is they have a series of popups that show up that vary..so its not always the pop up that I had a problem with..

I just chanced trying to click on the same link again... and this time I have managed to obtain the Part 2 video OK..

This is the link that I am on that shows Part two of the series if anyone wants to chance clicking on it... as long as one thinks that they would know what to do if you do get the same pop up that caused me my earlier problems...

When the video played in Part one yesterday.. I was able to stop it..by clicking on the video...but there seemed no stop button.

and when I did click on the video sometimes ..popups did occur.

When I am on the Part 2. video.. when I click on it... it will NOT stop and I do get a pop up each time I tried to stop the video when i clicked it...

Rather strange... but at least I am able to watch Part 2 for Free..

Just as I am finishing writing this and still trying to watch the video on and off as I write... towards the end...I am able to stop the video...but not sure why it wouldn't stop early on other than I kept getting pop ups..

I just wanted to let you & all know..

I had that same pop-up a week ago on my iPad. So I got on another devise and googled recent spams. It told me to go to Safari and clear my cookies and cache and that would solve the problem. Because being on my iPad, it froze me up and I could not get off that page.  I did and it solved the problem. Now I clear my cookies at the end of every day.

Ok... I was looking on a site listing a bunch of the shortcuts and it showed that but said:
Quoteb) If you're on your Windows 10 desktop, open Power dialogue to shut down or restart Windows, put your device in sleep mode, sign out or switch the current user
http://blogs.technet.com/b/sebastianklenk/archive/2015/05/28/windows-10-keyboard-shortcuts-at-a-glance.aspx
I misunderstood. I went looking for what the shortcut key was while I was in the midst of trying to rid myself of an annoying popup that Alt-F4 seemingly had no effect on. Restarting the PC didn't get rid of it either...had to go through all the prompts risking installing something.

very Noble of you, a few would have accused me of fishing/trolling, although I would have to argue a disclaimer in such an instance , noting that im not the webhost, benefactor, or affiliate to said site, ensuing my innocence ,rebuffing my good name :D
