Hmm, I missed the memo delineating that  8)

But I always regarded her as Komodo dragon droppings...

You were right. The latest indicates it is pooped out versus the old theory that it is barfed.

I think you get my drift though.  :P

Hmm, me thinks you would be referring to The Compte De Saint Germaine...

He goes by many names :P Francis Bacon, The proffesor, Shakespeare... he is the cause (partly) of the Count Dracula legend, he may have been Beethoven and even Jesus :P  Even Star Trek the old series did an episode on him  "The Squire of Gothos"

I wonder where he is now?

Irene, whale poop floats and is commonly known as ambergris, a highly sought after base for perfume for many years...

Whew! Thank goodness Zorgon addressed the "God" issue, considering I have a woeful track record in churchy kinda things.

As for America, it is a concept, but the core values and ideals it was molded around have faded into something nefarious and rotten.

I agree, its too late, time for damage control...Trump or not.

As is typical in the USA Ambergris is ILLEGAL to use in perfumes, because sperm whales on the extinction list :P

So how exactly doe harvesting floating whale poop harm the species?

America the Stupid :P And Obama is shutting down long time famous mineral collecting localities too.  Seems they don't like people making a small buck or two :P

But hey if your in the UK  start combing the beaches.. Never know when you get lucky  and I hear in the UK it's finders keepers :D

What's Ambergris? Behind the $60k Whale-Waste Find

QuoteSperm whales eject an intestinal slurry called ambergris into the ocean, where the substance hardens as it bobs along. Eventually it gets collected along shores—most often as sheer happenstance, as in the case of eight-year-old Charlie Naysmith in the U.K. a few days ago.

Walking along the beach in Dorset with his dad, the boy found what looked to be a very odd rock. He and his dad used Google to help identify it as ambergris. Weighing more than a pound, it is said to be worth up to U.S. $63,000.

The value of ambergris lies in its role in the fragrance industry. High-end perfumes from houses such as Chanel and Lanvin take advantage of the ability of ambergris to fix scent to human skin.

The smell of ambergris itself varies from piece to piece, ranging from earthy to musky to sweet. If a perfume house's "nose"—the person responsible for choosing scents—likes the aroma, the ambergris can be worth thousands an ounce.

Though it is illegal to use ambergris in perfumes in the U.S. because of the sperm whale's endangered status, foreign markets, especially French, remain strong. (Learn secrets of whale evolution in National Geographic magazine.)

Scientists still don't know for sure the exact origins of ambergris. They do know that when sperm whales have a stomach or throat irritant, often a squid beak, they cover it in a greasy substance and cast it out.

It was once thought the ambergris was ejected by mouth. As of now, the argument seems to be weighted toward the back end of the whale.
