This is the disturbing trend I see.  The USA falls apart into tribalism.  Maybe some sort of AI governance would be better.  Do we get google glasses and some 'soft' guidance? Better than Computer Overlords.

This is one of the more regrettable symptoms of the oncoming age of Aquarius.  The focus of Aquarius is on the relationship between collectives on the one hand, and individuals on the other; so you're going to see a lot of competing cults emerging.

A.I. Robot overlords will be no better than what is in place. Simple reason was already stated that it would disrupt the power structure and expose too much corruption. How do you make an A.I. that will play by the dual rule system and know to look the other way for some people's crimes? Who will oversee it's use? Nuff said dead horse is beaten to a pulp already.
the whole usa is built on a house of cards and bullshit.we are always living just on the edge, imho.we just happen to be the worlds greatest bullshitters,or were.the chickens are coming home to roost though.the veil is being pulled back.imho
ive never been much for rules.

Interesting article about AI being used to abuse ~

https://www.yahoo.com/news/top-experts-warn-against-malicious-ai-014639573.html

QuoteArtificial intelligence could be deployed by dictators, criminals and terrorists to manipulate elections and use drones in terrorist attacks, more than two dozen experts said Wednesday as they sounded the alarm over misuse of the technology.

In a 100-page analysis, they outlined a rapid growth in cybercrime and the use of "bots" to interfere with news gathering and penetrate social media among a host of plausible scenarios in the next five to 10 years.

"Our report focuses on ways in which people could do deliberate harm with AI," said Sean O hEigeartaigh, Executive Director of the Cambridge Centre for the Study of Existential Risk.

"AI may pose new threats, or change the nature of existing threats, across cyber-, physical, and political security," he told AFP.

The common practice, for example, of "phishing" -- sending emails seeded with malware or designed to finagle valuable personal data -- could become far more dangerous, the report detailed.

Just imagine... soon A.I. will be everywhere in which each program has a different agenda. Some will be for malicious intent, spying, etc. But then there is the next level...

We are developing mind-machine technologies that are also going to be 2 way communications between the A.I. and the brain directly. What now is a pesky virus on your PC could become orders of magnitude more chaotic if it should happen to have any effect on the human brain. I'm not that great at math so I wouldn't be a very good Bitcoin mining robot.  :P

I know that I don't live there, blah, blah, blah, but to me it has always looked like the US needs a common enemy to unite, otherwise it splits in smaller groups.

Hence why we are always looking for a fight with someone :P

Actually, I look for hope for the future of the US and the world. The problem is finding any.

Unlike a lot of hysterical people I work with, I looked forward to a Trump Presidency - because I believe he will accelerate the end of Empire.  Beyond that, I'm afraid there could be truth in the notion that aggression is simply part of US character.  If China/Russia can figure out a solid reserve currency alternative to the dollar, the Empire is finished.

I just ran into this. While it isn't AI by strict definition, it does sound like a way IT tech could greatly improve governance.

Speaking of running crypto mining... just spotted this article where they found crypto mining malware running on Tesla cloud system.  :o

We're currently nearing Pluto conjunct Saturn in Capricorn, (due in 2019) which as far as I know, is one of the most negative astrological events on the books.  In addition, this is America's natal Pluto return; which means that Pluto is now back where it was at the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

For those who are not astrologically conversant, the simple translation of this, is that we are currently submerged up to the crowns of our heads in fecal matter, and will be until at least 2020.  This may sound fatalistic, until you remember that it can be useful to acknowledge that the weather is outside of human control; the only real response you can make to a storm, is to lay in sufficient supplies, hope for the best, and tie yourself to the mast.

Just get through it.
