QuoteFolks take what Lear says with a grain of salt, remember he says that billions of people live on the moon, saturn, and venus. He also says 911 was a hologram. Think for yourself .Ryan Penka

Ryan, I took your advice and thought for myself. This is what I came up with:

Ryan, you forgot to mention that I also believe entities live inside the sun and that Neil deGrasse Tyson is a full blown, dyed in the wool, card-carrying government disinformation agent. He is passing on as gospel ideas that have been proven wrong many years ago such as the universe is 19 billion years old and which began with a big bang (not true the universe had no beginning and will have no end);

That mass has an effect on gravity (proven wrong Pari Spolter "Gravitational Force of the Sun" Orb Published1993)

That Einsteins Theory of Relativity both General and Special has validity ( proven wrong Pari Spolter "Gravitational Force of the Sun" Orb Publishing1993);

That the moon has one sixth the gravitational force of Earth, WRONG! actual gravitational force of the moon 68.71% that of earth;

That the moon does not have a breathable atmosphere WRONG! Testimony by Howard Menger, "From Outer Space to You", 1956;

That the heat of the Sun provides warmth for Earth, and that the distance from the sun directly affects a planets temperature. That Mercury is hot enough to melt lead and that Pluto is cold enough to freeze an Eskimo, both wrong as Suns surface temperature does not affect a planets temperature, Proof? No satellite rotates to moderate a surface temperature and neither does the ISS;

That rotational lock occurs naturally by Tidal effect? Pure unadulterated nonsense. If that were true and the sun directly provided heat, one half of every satellite and the ISS would be cooked into oblivion. The truth is that the sun emits an electromagnetic wave which is moderated by a planets atmosphere to provide a livable temperature. People live as comfortably on Pluto and they do on Mercury and every other of the 40 planets and their moons in our solar system.

As far as gas giants in our solar system there is only one: NASA.

As far as humans living on the moon there are billions (not from Earth). Just look at some of the radar photos provided by Bruce Swartz. The best I have ever seen

These and many more outdated wives tales are espoused as gospel by the moronic Neil Tyson, whose New York Times introduction to "Astrophysics for People in a Hurry" states 'a straightforward easy-to-understand introduction to the laws that govern the universe'. Easy-to-understand? Yes, easy-to-understand if you can't think past or question Tysons easily disprovable government provided disinformation.

Neil has a line of BS that people buy simply because they wouldn't believe the New York Times would put government disinformation on the best sellers list. The fact is that the New York Times knows nothing about astrophysics and assumes anyone with a degree would not intentionally lie to the public. Laws that govern the universe? Does Tyson realize that no human can go further than the Van Allen belt because of radiation and he is now proposing that he can explain the Laws of the Universe? Is Tyson completely nuts?

Tysons book is pure unadulterated nonsense. Tidal Lock was a term invented by NASA to account for the Moons rotational lock without resorting to an ET explanation.. There is not one word of truth in Tidal Lock explanation. Not one. The New York Times should be ashamed of themselves for promoting such easily disprovable nonsense on their non-fiction best sellers list. The NYT should immediately move this book to the Fiction list so people wouldn't be lead into believing any of it. Tyson should be made to account for his lies and disinformation to the American and world-wide public. Tyson should be forced to go head-to-head and toe-to-toe with Pari Spolter and Judy Woods. He would be quickly reduced to a pile of cow droppings.

Tyson is simply a well spoken college graduate with a haircut. Nothing more.

And all Ryan Penka can do is try to discredit true and valid information. The fact is our solar system has 40 planets, not 9. And each of those planets have one or more moons and all of the planets and moons have many civilizations on them who trade, build, farm and mine with one another.

We on Earth are not going to be allowed to play with the adults in our solar system until we can learn to conduct ourselves with integrity; without envy, hate or greed, and to express our love to our family members each and every day. Its just that simple.

So Ryan, I suspect that deep inside you is a good person struggling to get out and conduct himself as a human being should. But because of your self induced ignorance he is finding It very difficult. Let me respectfully suggest you pick up a copy of Pari Spolters "Gravitational Force of the Sun", read it and then apologize to all of those you have misled because of your ignorance.

Neil, I would suggest the same thing for you. You are going to have a much tougher time than Ryan simply because of the popularity of your book of nonsense which has reached so many more people,

And the sooner you both start the sooner you will begin to live the joy of life everlasting. Allow me to clarify that. If you are alive then you already have life 'everlasting' and have had life everlasting for millions of years; ever since you first received your soul. You don't have to request it. You don't have to beg for it. You don't have to kneel for it. You don't even have to pray for it. It's yours now and will be forever.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is a full blown, dyed in the wool, card-carrying government disinformation agent.

This interests me.  I haven't seen much of Tyson, (deliberately, based on first impressions) but my perception was that he was an amiable, ***relatively*** harmless televangelist for the church of New Atheism.  The most recent heir of Carl Sagan, essentially.  That means that I'd more or less taken it as a given that he'd be about as reliable as Jeff Rense where factual information is concerned, but "disinformation," wasn't a word that I'd consciously used with him.

I've never objected to atheism having its' own clergy, despite, of course, the fact that they would adamantly deny referring to any of their leaders as such.  Sagan and Tyson have both tried to encourage a sense of genuine wonder in their audience, which I think is a positive thing; Einstein wrote about how important that is for genuine scientific enquiry.

I view Dawkins/Harris class atheism as simply a competing religion, and where competing religions are concerned, these days I tend to think more in terms of what I do or do not ***agree*** with, rather than necessarily attempting to claim that their ideas are BS in objective terms.  The very fact that many atheists adamantly try to make definite negative assertions, is one of the biggest problems I have with atheism in the first place; so I'm going to try and avoid doing that myself.

The first of two adjuncts of New Atheism which I am likely to expend genuine negative emotion about, is transhumanism; but that is because it potentially has horrific ***practical*** consequences.

The other major problem that I have with atheism, is that natural selection tends to imply that psychopathy is a prerequisite to the long term survival of a species.  As a philosopher, Thomas Hobbes deserves reprimand, and there is concrete anthropological evidence to prove it.  Far from being "nasty, brutish, and short," most (although no, not all) indigenous, instant-return societies which have been studied, actually believe in treating the members of said societies far more compassionately than we usually do in ours.

Atheism's worst flaw is that it is self-congratulatory.  It has a perception of the past as having been something dark and unspeakably horrible, which via a slow ascent, humanity was able to increasingly rely on science to pull itself out of.

My own perspective is exactly the opposite; that in psychological and moral terms, contemporary industrial society is literally the worst form of Hell that humanity has ever created for itself, and that the only thing Tyson's beloved science is likely to do, is make it worse still.  The more technologically complex we become, the further away we get from happiness.  You can go and find study after study after study; the only real purpose of mobile phones and social media, is the induction of collective depression and suicide.

That's not a flaw of atheism, that's a problem with some atheists. :)

PS: for some reason, I never liked Carl Sagan, although I liked the topics he talked about on his TV shows.
