oh i don't think so.  you should read some of the laws that had to be put in place, because of things like price gouging.

Well you might not think so :P

...yes there are bad laws, bad people, bad practices and greedy businesses, governments and people

that doesn't mean that the system doesn't work if you have the keys.

How you use the keys is up to you...  you can chose to ignore them (as most do which is why I never post them openly), you can chose to become ruthless like the PTB and assorted baddies, OR you can chose to use them simply to make your own situation better

Blaming the 'other guy' is not constructive. Playing the game using their own rules does work... and you need only play long enough to get to that level where you stay under the radar.

i'm not blaming the other guy. i'm just saying the other guy is acting like we're his little pyramid building slaves lol  problem is, he knows we're all a bunch of pain in the behinds, so now he's thinking he'll get some people who poverty and depravation have sufficiently softened up, so they'll be willing to do anything to escape their poverty.

in the other words,  they kinda lost that whole american ideal of mom, pop, and apple pie.  now it's more like them them them and them and furthermore, them and after that, more them. not all of them of course. we're just talking about the ones that are making this whole american dream thing into an exclusive club, one new tax law and profit margin, at a time.

I will share one true story... my first attempt at playing the game :D

And yes I am still kicking myself for not pursuing the method... but then I procrastinate :P

A few years back when we lived in Salt lake City... I paid $1,000.00 for one of those self help courses. The course came in four sections
1) How to remove old debt
2) How to build new credit
3) How to buy and sell from auctions
4) How to buy and sell reposed real estate

So I will give a short outline without all the details...

for #4 there is available in the US a weekly publication that is like a small phone book the size of a newspaper. This periodical lists all the reposed properties in the entire nation...

Defaulted mortgages, tax sales, police and other agency confiscations, etc.
These properties list for what is owing on them, not the true value

So looking over them I found a property that was interesting. A ski resort that had failed in Park City Utah. The property was listed for 4 million dollars for 42 acres... cheap huh? :D

Now as it turned out at the time I had a contact who was looking for some land for housing development so this [property would have been sweet being in the prime skiing location in Utah..

Long story short, he would have taken it off my hands for 28 million  :o

So WITH ONLY $1,000 I put an offer on that property. The offer was pending financing so I would get my 1 G back if the deal fell through... a no loss situation. With real estate laws as they are, this locked the property in my hands for 90 days

Would have been a go but the zoning committee ruled against us and only would allow splitting up the property into 42 1 acre lots and that was not enough for the buyer... so the deal went kaput...

Point is there was no loss on my part for trying.. and it had a potential of making me rich literally overnight. These deals are listed by the THOUSANDS across the country. ANYONE can do it with just the basic knowledge or simply partner with a real estate agent (you will need one anyway to make the sales)

A guy in Toronto was planning to build a commercial property... To do this he had to file papers and plans.  Another guy saw the plans and looked at the area. This guy realized that to build the first guy needed to buy several properties

So the second guy made offers... and managed to buy a small apartment building from the old owners.  The first guy was then forced to buy that building from the second guy...

The second guy made 10 million profit and never had to spend ONE DIME in the deal  :D

American Dream... ie House ownership

True Story

My friend across the street bought his house. Him and his lady both had good jobs... things were rosy and blissful

Then one day he had an accident. He was a sign maker and fell off a 14 foot ladder, landed on his feet and crushed both of them

From that day he had nothing but bad luck. His company lost bids and the owner decided to just pack up and move to Arizona so his job literally went south. His lady, now upset that they were having money problems just packed up and left...

Now back a few years the house prices sky rocketed here for a brief time. He had taken a loan out for a new roof, AC and a new truck ($46,000)

So then the problems happened  no job, bad legs and no companion to help pay the bills. The banks did what banks do...  but it took a year. In the meantime he tried all those Obama and state 'help' plans we all hear about to help you keep the house.

Well one day he found a "get out in 30 days" notice on the door while they were still in negotiation

So while this was going on I convinced him to sign up with the union for that convention work. He finally did and has now completed his apprenticeship and is a full member

End result...

The house he lost, that he owed 189.000 on because of that loan... was now only worth 85,000 because of the economy. It was hard to get him to see that just walking away was a benefit but he finally did

So in effect he walked away from a 189,000 debt... now had a new job that pays 32.00 and hour straight time and he still had that new truck fully paid for

Its been a year and with the lack of debt, and the new job he was able to buy a new house with a bigger lot from a bank sale of someone else's house  He picked that up for $68,000

The moral of the story is that if you know the game, you can beat them even when faced with impossible odds

The house he left?  The bank took the loss and only got $58,000 for it :D

Tax and tax breaks have been mentioned as part of the the money problem here, and I agree with that. What is needed is an absolute change to the way monies are collected to run the needs of a central government. And that change needs to be done on a basis where everyone is involved in paying taxes.

That change should be to move to a consumption tax, and collect it just like state sales taxes are collected. That way when the "filthy rich" (and you) are buying their high end articles, like cars, boats, jewelry, guns, motorcycles, and on, and on ,and on, everyone gets to pay their fair share just like everyone else.

No loopholes to worry about, and no exceptions when buying the defined taxable goods - ie most everything except food, medical, and etc, just as is today with state taxes.

No tax forms to fill out every year!

Eliminate the IRS*********************YEAH!!!!

No tax withholding from paychecks!

No taxation, until a person buys taxable articles.

More money in the check, so more interest that can be earned, until spending the money.

A major thing this type of tax change would do, is to remove the need for continual "taxing discussions and legislation" from the floors of congress. They would still be responsible for determining how to spend the money, but not a continual discussion of how to redo the tax code every year, for that interest or this interest. Congress would have way more time to discuss and deliberate the really important issues of national interests, foreign policy, and security.

Yep, the tax percentage can go up or down, just like with state sales taxes. But at least, we would have a better feel for our total taxing dollars, as they relate to the required percentage.

A couple of wormy areas in this - how to handle business/corp. tax, and the new tax approach relative to the really poverty people.

All of this goes by the name "Fair Tax". Anyone interested can find it on the web at the below link for more detail.

lol no, american dream,  ie, have enough money after working and paying your bills, to be able to run a small business without owing more money than general electric (which is zero hehe).

they have so many laws on the books for small business now, because one side doesn't want the competition and the other side doesn't want capitalism........  it's a stranglehold. vader has nothing on these guys.

undo the "Beatles" may have been smarter than I gave them credit for being! :)) While I did like some of there songs, I was never much of a Beatle fan. Never heard Tax Man until now.

I seriously "HATE"  having to deal the annual tax returns. Of course, no tax returns would mean that most of the widespread cottage type businesses of tax return preparation would be '"Out of Business". And just think, whatever the "length, width, and depth" of that business, right now it is all wasted effort. With it now, there are no real product outcomes, it is just services for people to know how much tax they must pay each year. Pure and unadulterated waste of time and effort, that could/should be applied in more productive ways.

Just FYI, the IRS had 106,000 employees i 2010, and the IRS 2912 budget is at $13.3 billion - yes that is BILLION of DOLLARS!!! If we can "essentially" do away with the IRS, we save a lot of money right there.

Our lives would be so much better, by getting away from the monumental tax code our congress has put us under! Just my opinion!

Did you know that the IRS, like the Federal Reserve... is a PRIVATE company?

Thanks to Woodrow Wilson for that mess :P

nope, did not know that about the IRS. I did just do some looking, and do see that there are questions about their status - maybe a "government corporation" even. DUH!!

zorgon

Seems I recall someone from the DoD once telling me that there is an option to pay 10% of your earnings directly to the US Treasury in lieu of dealing with the IRS.

I just looked now but cannot find it, need the right search parameters I guess. Not sure if this was fact... maybe a tax lawyer will pop in and help :P
