LOLs Sharsta !  Always the rich who take over our land....

Good Info Zorgon...

Worrying about the Mexicans and shame for John being done by the wildlife and a tortoise !

Its a bit of a drive from Vegas and high up...and can be quite cold when Vegas is burning..

One or two comments here about Cold Creek and some nice photos of the creek if your into fishing...It surprises me how nice it looks in these shots.

The Views looking down over NTS and Nellis are somewhat breathtaking on a clear day.

Yes it does seem that those post boxes are common...and I follow what you say about the area, tourists and properties...

I know you get some rich areas and maybe some private streets...But If Cold Creek is a Private Town as such..I have never come across that..
As far as I recall I was informed that they have signs and security and will not let you in even though it has 200 properties...

It does look an impressive area for many activities...hard to believe that you can ski 40 miles from Vegas.

I like the Maps....By any chance have you been up on Mount Sterling ?

As far as I know Papoose Lake is 45 miles North of Mt Sterling..

What do you mean take the blue bus to the Test Center.. Do you mean Mercury ? Where they test the Nukes ? I assume you do not mean to Groom ! as I have never heard of any official bus taking any one there...Just their workers in a White Bus :-)

========================
not much to see on Papoose Lake :D and you can take a DOE blue bus right to the Test Center, Groom lake/Area 51 is a very small section of the Nellis Range

Yucca Mountain and Nevada Test Center are miles away from Groom lake :P

Nevada Test Site - The Bureau of Atomic Tourism

Sometimes the tours are not available - depends what they are testing out there :P

The Sedan crater at the Nevada Test Site is nearly a quarter-mile wide and 320 feet deep. One purpose of the 1962 Sedan test was investigating whether nuclear weapons could be used to excavate canals and harbors. The crater is a national historic site.

And NO you can't tour this

astr0144

I am sure that a trip to the NTS / Mercury if you can visit those locations mentioned would be good to see...But How safe would one really be !
Can we believe them if they tell us the radiation has now fallen below set levels. I take it that you have visited these places...

Well...I will write to the Nellis base and tell them that they have a few interested people who wants to visit Groom and Papoose instead...for research purposes only !....
