He LE! Yes, Mars has lots of "balls" and they are in lots of different places. I, and probably most who spend time looking at the photos of Mars, have seen these over and over again. And this article talks about them first being photographed in 2004.

They are pretty strange, and unusual. While I have never posted anything on them, I have spent some time looking at them. One of the things I have noticed, In other photos, is that some of the balls seem to have an attachment to the surface they are on.

Another thing I have noticed is they do generally and broadly blanket areas, but most of the time there are noticeable "clear trails" around and or through them. The clear-of-balls trails are there, just know way of knowing hoe the open trails develop.

I haven't saved anything on these balls, so, at present, I do not have any pics to post. When I find any others, I will add them here.

Zorgon is also a "fan" of these balls ( ;D ) as he has posted pics of them here previously, so, maybe he too can add to this post.

Hey Rdunk!
I hadnt noticed the "trails" around and through the balls yet..good eye!

Now that I have seen that, i have to wonder, was it foot traffic or water flow that created the trails?

Id like to think there are critters running about on Mars, but wonder of they ahrken back to when there was water there, ebbing and flowing amongst the balls.

Also, I wonder if these are just another version of the blueberrie comprised os differnt minerals or if they were in water with a different PH or alkalinity due to the location on Mars.

No doubt they are indicative of some sort of mineral formations which could be very much related to coccoliths or some other life form...or they could be garden ornaments for the underground species living there..Hmmm.  :)

Ill look forward for Zorgon's take, too, thanks for checking that link out!
