"Pond circles" form over frozen pond

Eden, NY (WGRZ) -- A mystery of sorts has unfolded in Peggy Gervase's back yard.

As she looked out from the deck of her home on Friday, Peggy spotted what appeared to be a series of concentric circles that had opened in the snow covering a nearby pond. It almost resembled the unusual phenomena known as crop circles. But again, this occurred on the surface of a pond.

Take a look at the vid/photos. This is a weird one.

Possibly methane being released due to decomposing plant material in the water.I have seen this under the right conditions.
A very thin layer of ice and a light snow.

Or the sleeping fish down there are farting.
