New UN Treaty on Mercury Requires Countries to Phase Down Dental Amalgam.

In a monumental development today, the United Nations has taken an action which may lead to the incremental justification of its' existence.  A treaty was finalised last month, which would bind signatory countries to phase down the use of mercury amalgam fillings in dental work.

Sarcasm aside, those of you who have read my writings on this site will know that I consider myself an opponent of world federalism; so it is with some ambivalence that I praise the UN for this action.  I feel that it is probably hypocritical of me to condemn as fascist, treaties which I am opposed to on the one hand, (such as the Convention on Psychotropic Substances; not to mention the very idea of world government in general terms) yet react positively to others such as this one.  Still, I think that mercury fillings are very dangerous to health, and preventing their use would be a good idea.
