Texas Firm Makes World’s First 3D-Printed Metal Gun

WOW! I wonder whatever could be next to come off of a "printing" line?!!! This pistol appears to shoot preeeeety good! Isn't this almost unbelievable? Of course it was unbelievable until just a few short years ago.

I do wonder where the thought/idea for this "printing technology" came from - here, or from someplace else???

In this One News report Richard Taylor, Pietro Marson and Rod Sheeny (Weta Workshop Animatronics)
talk about how Weta Workshop is using 3D printers to make weapons and props for The Hobbit
and the Lord of The Rings trilogy.

Animatronics engineer, Rod Sheehy, says that the printing technology is an advantage
because it keeps costs down with the items made in-house, saving a lot of time
and Taylor says that they've used the tech to make helmets, sword hilts and axes.

Yes Matrix, this technology is going to mature into its place in manufacturing for the people, and at the same time will put much of standard manufacturing into a frenzy, on how to compete.

I now believe that 3D layer printing will be eventually be seen as one of the greatest "paradign changes" in the history of man and manufacturing. And the impacts on every aspect of manufacturing will be enormous - we likely can project for the eventual impacts of 3D printing on the life and work of man to be at least as great as was the introduction of the motor car's impact to man and the horse buggy industry et al.

We should expect frequent announcements of new printing products, new advances in 3D printing technologies, and news of manufacturing industry "fretting" about the need for laws to "control the printing", to save their industry.

I am looking forward to developments in "nanotech"  3D printing, as it may overcome some of problems we have at present, in "nanotech".

I am not up on the nanotech problems. But, I do use nanotech technology............I use ARCHOIL firearm cleaner/lubricant/protection, as it is formulated with nano particles. I selected it because of it having the latest tech. Really works well for me.

And I have recently read about some pretty amazing results of new thin light weight body armor that is made with nano tech. Will also be interesting to see just how far this goes, especially as it moves into 3d layer nano-printing!!

Metal "3D Printing" is so insanley expensive that even 3D Printing Companys sort of err and humm on that technolgy as it is not going to become mainstream for many years, if not decades.
