Eating insects: A food shortage solution?

After watching a survival TV program with Bear Grylls  a ex special Forces guy who eat almost any bug he could get hold of when crossing the Sahara...and making bug pies in other places difficult to obtain food that gave him protein & energy to survive...

Also watching "Celebrity get me out of here' where  Celebs are given various tasks to do in the Jungle including eating insects...

I can now see this becoming quite a possibility..
