Former NASA leader: U.S. space program held hostage by Russia.

What's next for NASA?

The legendary space agency that landed a man on the moon, launched the Voyager spacecraft into infinity, the Hubble Space Telescope to unlock the mysteries of the universe, and landed legendary rovers on Mars, is now searching for its next mission.

It's tough to plan for a long-term mission, when each new administration presses the reset button, with many programs that have been started and cancelled.

Can NASA recapture the glory of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon, when millions of people around the world watched Neil Armstrong step gingerly onto the lunar surface? Or did the 30 years of space shuttle flights make spaceflight too routine?

Three years ago the shuttles were retired, sent to museums, and U.S. astronauts lost their own ride to space, forced to buy seats on Russian rockets to get back and forth to the International Space Station.

That has put the U.S. in a very bad position, former NASA Administrator Michael Griffin told "Power Players."

"We're in a hostage situation; Russia can decide, if it wishes to do so, no more U.S. astronauts can ride to the International Space Station, and that's not a position that I want our nation to be in," Griffin said.

Even before Malaysia Flight 17 was shot down over Ukraine, new tensions were rising between the U.S. and Russia. The Russian deputy prime minister threatened this spring: if America wants astronauts in space, it should get a trampoline.

No, Russia is not holding the US hostage. The US has chosen to tie its own hands, by retiring the Space Shuttles even before replacements were in place.

But then, are the hands of the US really tied?? Are there possibly other available options that make shuttle type operations obsolete, maybe on a far more broad scale?? Maybe starship technology capability??

There has to be a reason for the US having stopped any real moon discovery and "boots on the ground" activity!! It was in essence stopped, just as we had begun to to make moon exploration a true reality! And it was stopped when at a point that nothing else had the importance of what the moon could possibly give to us. All of the any $billions we have spent on Mars stuff thus far has given us nothing much more than interesting information. Why are these Mars rovers not on the moon instead, if we cannot do both??

Somewhere in all of this, there has to be clandestine motives for these things being handled as they have been - clandestine as far as we the people are concerned!!

I posted the article but do not suggest that I agree with it...You do make some good and probable valid points...

So many things to question on the topic...

Not really knowing for sure if Man did actually get to the moon (at least with the Apollo program) makes it hard to really make any judgement on what may be happening...

I assume that in reality they have at least landed something on the moon and not faked that..

Its rather frustrating not really knowing what may have happened in the past and what the real reasons may be and what may likely be going to happen next...

Nasa and the Apollo program do appear to be a dog and pony show; Zorgon and John Lear brought forth years ago that not only is there a secret space program, but much that has been happening since the 1960's that is covert...

I also suggest reading the answers Zorgon posted in the Space Command thread to his test, which sadly few ever took...I did, and it will take you down the rabbit hole and indeed raise more questions than it answers...

If Russia or China ... or even Russia AND China decide to go back to the Moon in a Joint civil project in this Decade, I am pretty sure NASA will find the funds for the construction of new boosters and all manner of things , after all the Fed just prints it out like confetti anyway.

The MIC gets nearly a Trillion $'s every year , imagine what you could do with a Trillion Dollars invested in the Moon ... a shipyard on each pole of the Moon building big ships .... Solar system class ships .... not some stupid little capsule ( throw a pea at a Rhino gesture ) that they think is enough to fulfill our desires.

Actually it would be quite easy and pertinent for the MIC to become the Space Industrial Complex .... Space is a harsh place and their Industries could easily be converted to the cause .. they are the ideal candidates if only they would listen.

It's not Russia that has cut the NASA budget year on year , and accusing the Russians for the parlor state of the US civil space program is just ridiculous.

We need a revolution in thinking ... we need ideas that have the vision and scale of Isambard Kingdom Brunel ... like totally industrializing the Moon and utilizing it's resources as a transit point.

We need a Political class with some Balls .... we need an Establishment that is not drunk and intoxicated on power for it's own sake ... the current so called Elite are a mere shadow of their predecessors ... they make me puke with their tiny minds and their Caligula like perverse self indulgence.

This Planet sorely needs some adult supervision.

I think I had come across it in my past viewings at some time...Wow has he posted some solid info ! Will take some time to read if one try's...

Is Jack still a PRC member, and does he still post under any of the members usernames ?

I had read somethings about the Secret space program at some time when John and "Z" discussed it at some time if I recall...
