Funny how the edges have a different colours, as if some kind of cement was used to make those difficult to sculpt shapes. :)

Yes cement has been discussed... so has softening of the stones to shape them using some mysterious plant...

We discovered that the Romans had learned about cement... but cement is a soft material made from limestone, a sedimentary rock.  Those cut/carved stones are Andesite  a volcanic rock similar to granite.  Limestone does not take a polish, andesite does

But your not going to get smooth flat surfaces with a hammer and chisel :P

So did the Inca's or Pre-Incan races have concrete?

::)

I know, I am one of those that have mentioned that mysterious plant. :)

Limestone does take a polish, you just have to look at any old street in Portugal, as we use limestone to pave the side-walks. :)

Probably not, but maybe with a different tool. I cannot try with andesite, as I don't have any, but I can try it with basalt or granite. :)

I don't think so, and anyone could have added that cement-looking material after.

if there were another material surrounding the cuts would that not be easily tested for?
