Only in a videogame could a battle-bikini make for practical armor. :P

Not true :P In the SCA we get gals suited up for battle dressed like THIS

by your own words z,that makes 3,now i ask who the richest person on pegasus might be?
1 fusor
2 mr robot
3 land of legends

Well the problem with a really good idea is that to go forward you have to share it with a team to make it happen. How do you vet your team?  You can do background checks up the wazzoo and it still is no guarantee. in our case it is likely that the money people that saw a good idea went ahead with it when we were not able to. The name Land of Legends I can still use as there are many other uses of that exact phrase so you cannot really copyright it (and I can add something or change it anyway)

I would love to make one more try at it but would need to find the right people to want to make a go of it, even if I sell out after (keeping some rights)  But where do I find such people?  hmmmmmm

The concept we had would still work and the maoney can still be had, but I wasted 10 years on conspiracy stuff instead of picking up and going forward

Oh well...

Quotenot to bring up old scars but didnt i openingly express that security was very weak here and we should lock up ig but basically in the end everybody had a key.

Well the HEAD of IG was the main problem :P  So how can I lock up something that isn't mine in the first place? IG came to me looking for space  I provided it. I gave them the key to lock up their own shIt, only to find the viper at the head of the group :P  Fortunately when he deleted all the files I had just made a backup..  but IG was never a Pegasus project to begin with... and we see what happened when we gave them a little rope...  they tried to hang EVERYONE :p

Security? LOL This is a free software forum...  not a paid for commercial expensive to maintain professional software. The security at the server is actually very top notch and we have NEVER had a breach at that level...  but security in the forum itself is up to those who have admin status.

To work on a project you give scant details about what you are wanting to do  You HAVE TO otherwise how do you get started?  But once you have your team together  you need to use old school methods to do the work  Telephone works to start NOT SKYPE as skype is about as secure as a sieve...  You then need to use conference mode on your PC  A secure network, not an instant messenger like skype. It is easy enough to set up a peer to peer network that is secure.

You do NOT give out specific details of the project, story boards, ideas etc beyong your team

With the Land of Legend project our money lady wanted FOUR PAGES of summary to take to the investors  At that time we had 20 VOLUMES of data sketches and logistics and contracts ready to show. Investors don't care  They only want to see your basic plan on getting started and how quickly they will get their money back

So the only people who need the full details are those actually working on the project. I just burnt our original model a few months back...  I may make a new one

Quotei smell a big ass rat and it aint me,just sayin.im broke, broke broke broke! so is thor and amy.we worked hard and i feel robbed.im still here for the time but i just had to vent.

problem with a forum is that anyone can be anyone... You ban someone  there is little stopping them from using a new email and new name. Sure you can usually spot them by the way they type but not always  And people can sign up and never post... just lurk and see what is being discussed

Private rooms work but NOT if the 'rat' is already in that private room  :P

As to being broke... that is merely a state of mind :P  Just starte selling stuff on Ebay  anything doesn't matter what. Eventually something sells and you get money. The more items you list the more you potentially can sell. Takes a lot of work but it WORKS

Quoteeven you z had to sell off some stuff,

Well yeah but that is what I do... I find stuff and then sell off stuff. It keeps the roof over my head.  Only when I procrastinate and stop listing stuff do I have issues....

Quotei think its time to get serious and find the traitor.OFF WITH THEIR HEAD ! KING ZORGON !

And HOW exactly do we find this person (or persons)?  Many here still think YOU might be on that list :P So how do you find out?

robomont

Over the years I have tried in vein to push for this and suggested solutions.

At one point some of us were at least using Pidgin (which can be end to end encrypted), which is far better than Skype, then I remember a number of people deciding that Skype was a really great idea. ::)

Skype is ok for just shooting the breeze.  It is completely stupid if you are working on anything sensitive or worth money.  And I'm not holding back, the folks who think Skype is a good place to discuss commercially promising alternative energy projects or classified information are idiots and should not be working on those projects. :P

Yes people hate secrecy.  But if the "other side" (big corps) have that secrecy and you do not then you are wasting your time.

Peggy is only as secure as the least secure administrator.  Even worse, if anyone else has had access to an administrators account (and WE KNOW THAT THEY HAVE FOR A FACT IN ONE CASE) then the site is less secure even than the stupidest administrator.

The more experienced of us who have worked on secret stuff should know better.

Having worked in security for a number of years, I know the ins and outs of security, BUT...there is such a thing as INTEGRITY....you sign that statement, raise your right hand and swear that you will not divulge or render information to unsecured areas/people....You can have all the Administrators/SKYPE accounts/Pidgin accounts you want but it all comes down to INTEGRITY.....some have it some don't...some will abide by the rules...some won't, seeing their friendships as more important than their oath....That's why they have background checks....AND consequences for violations of a security oath....Seeing how there are NO consequences for a violation here, except for a ban, that isn't held up and past behavior forgiven, then we have an uphill battle....I guess you take your shots and take your chances...(TRUST) is the key word here...DO YOU TRUST THIS PERSON to have INTEGRITY....Tough Question....

I have and will always leave it to Zorgon as this is HIS forum...

I agree about the uphill battle.

Some of us take agreements and oaths seriously. :)

To be fair to Zorgon, he has given people their own areas on the site and left the access levels to them.  But if admin are not secure (access to all areas and can give others access) or the people don't control access to their area then there is no security.

The alternative way to work is to give people jobs and only tell them what they need to do their job.  Apart from that they just need to know where the project is going generally but no more.  Need to know...

:) We've learnt a few tricks from our past mistakes and what happened here will not happen with the game. Security was a top priority and we planned for it. There is no infighting, it is a workspace as it was intended and should be.
