For weather to be controlled in the form of a vast low pressure system, the energy involved would have to be unbelievable, Im no math whiz but Im sure someone somewhere has done the math as to how much energy would be needed to change such a system even a hundredth of a percent...as for me, its all Mother Nature, no doubt, and we are spoiled children in need of a spanking sometimes, hence various disasters..maybe the frequency is rising due to the frequency of people going insane and becoming drooling sheep..who knows.

Dave, it looks like you are in the bullseye; I hope you have nailed everything down and headed for a safer area...

at this time it appears all of Florida is at major risk: still a Cat 5  winds of 175 mph  pressure at 919 millibars

it isn't slowing down or weakening; Georgia and the Carolinas are also in the red zone...

hopefully everyone is paying attention and preparing

Sometimes I really don't like living in a land locked state.  This is not one of those times.  Please be safe kids!

Been watching Erich von Däniken half the day. How's everyone doing down there?

Seeker, have you got those polar bear slippers nailed down? Looks like it's going to be the worst in recorded history.

:(

Stay safe and stay in touch everyone.

The Seeker

Monster feet are secured and accounted for, progress being made on moving all the plants inside, securing all the outside items and basically getting ready for what comes our way

we did have a cold front come thru, temps been in the low 50's the last 2 nights, and day time humidity has been in the 30 % range; that should help take some of the pop out of Irma if it tracks north over land

Jose is also a cat 3 and approaching Anguilla and Barbuda for round 2  ::)

Here's a comparison of Hurricane Andrew vs Irma, for those who have been through one before -

Irene

I see there's another one on the heels of Jose.

This is absolutely insane.

At the moment there are 3 active hurricanes with category above 2, and it's only the second time that has been recorded, the last time was in 1893, and it's the first time there are 2 active hurricanes of category 4 or above.

Are you folks on that side of the pond hearing any news on what Katia is doing ?.. there is no news on Katia in the UK ..

We see Jose is reported as Cat-4 Hurricane, and I watched the news tonight showing the destruction of the Brit territories by Irma .. all flattened ...  only shells left of buildings  :( :(  with Jose not far behind ..

I am guessing that this is the first instance in history of 2 x CAT 5/4 barrelling in so soon after each other?

And we heard that there is to be a mass 20Million people evac of Florida?? how will the road / rail /air support such a exodus ?

Good luck everyone who is within the strike distance of this mutha of a storm, I hope she veers off east as fast as possible.

I also looked at the comparison graphic of Andrew vs Irma..  I have no words on that if it is true  :( :( :o

Thinking of you folks out there - Good luck,

Fansongecho ((hugs))

There was what seemed like a really good article on yahoo earlier that I wanted to post on Irma,

but they seem to alter things on their some of their webpages and so often articles and things seem to disappear..

Often their suggested topic articles that you click on... now appear with other topic related articles..

as its on a type of news page... and it dont take long before something has replaced the one you were earlier looking at.. and when you check back in your history to try to find it.... when you open it.. it does not always appear as it was before..

such as say certain images have changed or disappeared that I wanted to post..

At the time it was being shown, I did not have the time to copy it..

Richard bransons Island home has been destroyed by it..

Sir Richard Branson says Necker Island 'completely and utterly devastated' by Hurricane Irma

Hope members in the Area are well prepared...or have moved out..!

Sgt Still standing and Surviving them all !

I dont think that I have ever known 200 MPH winds..
Cannot even image how that must feel.

Found the article that I referred to last post..

a bit long with too many images to post the whole of it..

This was the image (and some others) that I referred to..

It shows some good maps that show when and what dates Irma is expected to hit as it moves thru Florida to the other parts of Southern USA..

If it does take that path all the way... you would think that it was being made to do so by some unknown forces..

I live in Melbourne Florida and just waiting for Irma.  Still working security at the railroad until midnight.  Will hunker down at the house.  My house was built in 1964 and weathered many hurricanes.  Roof was replaced in the past 3 years, storm windows with shutters and comfort food..Bring it on Irma.  The only time to panic is when true Floridians panic.
