I am well aware of Amaterasu's comments on free energy.  The subject needs renewed attention from time to time because the future otherwise might be quite bleak - as the cost increase link I provided shows.

Again, our society wouldn't need as many jobs or as many full time jobs, at least, with free energy.  Petroleum doesn't fall to zero, it's still needed for chemical feedstock.  Terrorist producing nations lose income - and get forced towards a better interface with the world thru trade (Saudi Arabia).

I don't comprehend a LOT of comments made on this site.  If you believe that advanced beings exist elsewhere, then they evolved to figure it all out - and we likely can also.

Not necessarily, as we don't have any idea of how their biology and society evolved.

One thing I find funny is people using their imagination but only partially. Yes, it's possible that there are advanced civilisations in other planets, but why do they have to had the same problems we had/have? Our problems are a result of our biology, our environment and how our societies evolved, and thinking that all those things happened in a similar way in other planets is, to me, limiting the possibilities.

Why can't there be advanced societies of creatures that do not need food as we do, and, for example, live only of the light from their planetary system's star? You just have to use your imagination.

All that's fair.  I also wonder if only somewhat 'beehive' intelligent creatures survive.  Collective and all that.

OTOH, a more pacific collective might be watching over us and setting limits on how much damage we can do.

The possibilities are endless, and, to quote an episode of "The Amazing World of Gumball", the problem with endless possibilities is that one of them is infinite boredom, so there's also the possibility that there isn't anyone else.
