Years ago when I was working on the concepts for our planned Medieval Theme Park, I had gotten permission from Buckingham Palace to use some of their website material for historical educational purposes.  These pages are on my website under the various orders of Knighthood...  We would have even had then Prince Charles involved as we were planning to include a recreation of the Tudor ship the Mary Rose and a full copy of the Globe Theater...

Well today we have the first piece of news that I would consider being added to the Guild History in keeping with our style  (Yes Zorgon has friends in high places )

Instrument of Consent

Buckingham Palace has today shared an image of the Instrument of Consent, the hand-written document which records Her Majesty The Queen's consent to the Marriage of Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle.



The Instrument of Consent is drafted by the Crown Office and is, in the case of Prince Harry's marriage, hand-written and illuminated on vellum by one of a panel of scrivener artists retained by the Crown Office.  Vellum is used only for important State documents.

The design to the left of the text incorporates a red dragon, the heraldic symbol of Wales, together with the UK's floral emblems – the rose, thistle and shamrock. It also features Prince Harry's Label, including three tiny red escallops from the Spencer family Arms.



The design to the right of the ​text also includes the rose, as this is also the national flower of the United States. To either side of the rose are two golden poppies – this being the state flower of California, where Ms. Markle was born. Between the flowers is the Welsh leek, together with Prince Harry's Label. Beneath the Label are olive branches, adopted from the Great Seal of the United States. 



To the left, underneath the two main designs, is the coronet for Prince Harry. On the lower right side of the document is the Commonwealth symbol.

The Instrument of Consent is sealed with the Great Seal of the Realm, which is attached to the foot of the document by woven cords sealed within the Great Seal itself. The Queen's signature, "Elizabeth R," can be seen at the top right of the document, which will be presented to Prince Harry and Ms. Markle after the wedding.



It reads: "NOW KNOW YE that We have consented and do by these Presents signify Our Consent to the contracting of Matrimony between Our Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales, K.C.V.O., and Rachel Meghan Markle."

NOTES TO EDITORS:

Her Majesty formally gave her consent to the marriage of Prince Harry to Ms Meghan Markle in accordance with the 2013 Succession to the Crown Act ​ by making Her Declaration at the meeting of the Privy Council on the 14th March 2018.

The photographs were taken in the 18th Century Room at Buckingham Palace.

The History of Zorgon and the Island of Standauffish is written to fit well into Historical Accuracy... Anyone interested can read it at our Guild website...  In the process of creating such a History  HERALDRY is one of the most important aspects fro defining who your persona is/was and how it is connected

Now here is the MOST SIGNIFICANT part of the above document for me and our guild interests...

For the first time in History  an American has had a Royal Heraldic device created... thus effectively setting precedence  (yes some will say Royal control )

Now Zorgon already has mail delivered by the US Post office addressed to King Zorgon, from another government agency, Clark County  so that makes it official

But this Heraldic Symbol is quite a nice piece of History...



The ROSE

The rose used today is a blend of the House of Tudor's RED ROSE and the House of York's WHITE ROSE

All goes back to the War of the Roses...

Zorgon got his Commission and Titles under King Henry VII, The House of Tudor, out of Pembroke Wales...  So my crest displays the red Rose   But we will cover all that in another thread

Well it may be  The UK has become really strange in the past few decades...

But on the other hand. perhaps the PENDULUM is about to swing back  THAT would be nice

In the meantime  I will be here lurking in the last Dark Ages... well technically at the time of the Great Awakening and Age of Enlightenment

We live in strange times indeed, and from past experiences, Yes, some of the citizens of merry ol England  we have encountered wear that label 

But on the other hand. perhaps the PENDULUM is about to swing back  THAT would be nice ;

Hope it doesn't swing back too hard; might tip the Queen mother off her throne
