Doesn't seem to be any shortage of cases where UFO witnesses have felt 'intimidated' by certain unknown individuals (whoever they are and whereever they're from) and apparently news reporter Danny Gordon received countless late night phone calls (some of them threatening); his house was broken into; bogus reporters visited his home and his UFO negatives from the photographs he took disappeared:

Also another example below from Ohio in 1991 where a fireman and 5 other colleagues witnessed a long, blue, cylindrical/spherical shaped object hovering above the road whist answering a routine call - they were all summoned into the Fire Department office the next day and informed by three 'intimidating' plain clothed strangers that "this incident didn't happen, you didn't see anything and don't talk about it".

Unfortunately the Fire department records and files for this case went conveniently missing (and now all the videos concerning the incident have gone missing as well).

´Typical´´account.

A "typical" MIB encounter goes something like this: Soon (usually immediately) after witnessing some type of UFO phenomenon, the percipient is visited by one or more strange men. These men often flash badges, give names, and claim to be from one government agency or another. (Upon subsequent investigation, the names givien are invariably absent from the mentioned agency's records and often the agency itself is found not to exist.) The "agents" usually display not only an uncanny knowledge of exactly what the witness has seen, but intimate personal knowledge of the witness as well. They collect all physical evidence of the encounter that the witness may have, such as photographs or residue from a landing site. Even in instances where they do not threaten the witness outright not to speak of his or her experience, the MIB usually manage to make it clear that doing so would not be a good idea. Other times, however, the MIB claim to be insurance salesmen, portrait photographers, or something equally unconnected with the subject of UFOs and never mention the UFO event in question, yet somehow leave the impression that they are associated with it none the less.

MIB tend to run the gamut as far as physical appearance is concerned, however, some generalizations in this are can be made. While some MIB are decidedly more human-looking than others, they have been fairly consistently described as being olive-complected and having thin lips, high cheekbones, and slanted (sometimes glowing)eyes. Their height can range from very short to very tall. They often sport garish makeup and bad wigs in a failed attempt to look more "normal." It is usually difficult to estimate their age. Often they move in a "mechanical" fashion and their voice has a machine-like quality. They frequently appear to have respritory difficulties and seem to be drained of energy over short periods of time. They are usually dressed, of course, in black; most often in out of date suits that appear to be brand new and cut from some strange type of fabric.

Extremely interesting Mexican UFO case - apparently the pilot was harassed by Men in Black on his way to an interview with the late Dr. J.Allen Hynek.

This is case were the reported UFOs are observed at close sight and are solid objet of obvious artificial construction.

This is a report of a near air collision between an aircraft and UFOs.

This is a radar/visual case, where a visual sighting is confirmed by independant people detecting the presence of the objects on a detection device.

This is a case where the UFOs fly away in direction of Mount Popocatepetl, obviously a hotbed of UFO reports and allegedly some sort of hideout for extraterrestrial aircraft.

This is a case where a pilot reports his encounter publicly.

This is a case where the witness has been medically checked and interviewed. If Hynek could not speak to Los Santos Montiel, at least Jerome Clark and others could.

This is a case where the witness stood firm with his account over time.

This is a case where the witness reports that he has been repeatedly intimidated by unidentified people probably from a foreign country (UFO folklore call them "Men in Black").

Full account of Shirley Greenfield's experience with MIB after witnessing a UFO in Bolton, January 23rd, 1976:

On the evening of Monday January 23, 1976 17-year-old Shirley Greenfield (a pseudonym) was on the bus returning from the office she worked at in Bolton to her new home on the West Pennine Moors, a part of the range of hills known as the Pennines, just outside the town. This is a part of Britain that has been fraught with UFO activity for many years.

Shirley got off the bus at 5.20pm. It was almost dark and the streets were quiet. Her walk from the bus stop to her home took less than ten minutes and she was nearly home when she noticed two lights cavorting over a reservoir. In seconds, the lights swooped down on her to become a metallic disc directly overhead, possibly thirty feet across and spinning like a top. It was as if they had picked her out amongst the gloom of the streets. An invisible force pressed her hard to the ground. Metal fillings in her teeth "vibrated" and a tangy taste filled her mouth. Shirley feared that this unseen "force" would crush her. One half hour of "missing time" was noted when she arrived home, terror-stricken and unable to speak from the shock of the experience.

The event was reported to the police, who refused to investigate and turned the story over to the media. Not seeking publicity, Shirley refused to cooperate with the local press and turned down a lucrative offer for a filmed television interview. Her health had deteriorated and she took to her bed for several days with muscle aches and nausea and vomiting. Her eyes hurt and watered and were quite red. She had unexplained burn marks on her arm and side, as well as a strange purple rash on her neck and shoulders. In her mouth, top dental fillings crumbled into powder and fell out, while some bottom fillings became embedded into the gums.

On Monday, February 2nd, Shirley's mother intercepted a telephone call from a man who would only identify himself as "someone who investigates these things" that asked about her daughter's health and whether any marks had been left on the girl's body as a result of her ordeal. The mother put the caller off.

At 7:00 PM on the following evening, two men arrived at the Greenfield home and demanded "to interrogate" the girl. Both men appeared about 40 and wore crisp black suits and denied being either UFOlogists or journalists. The father initially refused to let them in. One man, tall and fair, almost blond, did all the talking and sternly responded with, "If you do not let us in now, we will come back later and make Shirley speak to us."

Neither man used names. Both had an air of authority and conducted themselves as if they had every right to do and say whatever they chose. The silent partner sat on a chair and held a square black box with no visible moving parts. It was said to be a high-tech recording device. Although this intense grilling session lasted three hours, at no time was any recording tape changed.

The tall one was rude to the point of aggression.

This visit ended with a threat to be silent.

"You must not talk about this matter. It is in your interests not to do so. Nobody will believe you, in any case. In particular, you must not talk to UFO investigators."

The pair left in a large black car.

Mr. Greenfield still wonders, "You know, I have never been able to understand why I did not throw them out. Why I let them hound Shirley for hour after hour. I would normally not tolerate something like this. Why did I let them do this thing?"

The mother was creeped out by the man who had not spoken all night. He continually stared intently at her daughter the entire evening.

These mystery men telephoned the very next day and again a week later. They were still concerned about whether or not the girl had any unusual marks on her body following her ordeal. Shirley finally admitted that, yes, there were marks, but they were gone now. This seemed to satisfy the visitors. They did not contact the family again.

Under the auspices of Dr. Albert Kellar in Manchester, Shirley was hypnotized and asked to relive both the UFO sighting and the visit by the two Men in Black. She reacted in absolute terror to the visit by the MIB and the doctor was forced to abandon the experiment because her vital signs rose to dangerous levels. Even so, Shirley offered a possible clue:

"I don't understand... He's talking to me twice."

This MIB had supposedly interrogated her on two different levels. During the visit, messages had acted upon her subconscious mind in a form of subliminal communication. This advances notions of mental hypnotic suggestion and those Experiments in Distant Influence documented by Dr. Leonid L. Vasiliev

    This mind control aspect of these encounters gives me a thought of a connection to implants and the use they may have in delivering mental stimuli to give an individual a specific thought or feeling.  The whole situation with MIBS, ufos and abductions seems to have a great deal of mind control involved.  Not just causing memory loss but implanting false memories as well.  If it could be found that there is indeed a signal given off by some implants and it seems there may be.                     https://exonews.org/alien-implants-in-people-physical-characteristics-found-12/             Perhaps we can find a neutralizing counter signal.

Don't know about implants mate but when it comes to 'giving individuals specific thoughts or feelings' then I've read that utilisation of directed microwaves may have met with some success.

Anyhow it turns out UFO researcher Stan Gordon once got a bit of a shock when he enquired whether a certain UFO witness would be willing to undergo hypnosis and he replied 'You already did the hypnosis'.

Apparently 'an army guy and a guy in a suit' had already conducted it whilst posing as two of Gordon's UFO research team:

Great shame as there was also witness  testimony on there involving a MIB turning up and confiscating Bigfoot hair samples and photographs and destroying footprints.

Contributing Editor Guillermo Giménez has reminded us of a case that can be described as a "doubleheader" of high strangeness – a UFO sighting involving humanoid occupant with a bubble helmet and follow-up visit by the nefarious MIB.

In his article "Los Hombres de Negro en la Argentina" Giménez brings up the Dique La Florida CE-3 (4 February 1978) which occurred in the province of San Luis, involving a staggering total of six eyewitnesses: Manuel M. Alvarez, Regino S. Perroni, Pedro R. Sosa, Ramón A. Sosa, Genaro Sosa and Jacinto E. Lucero, employees of the Provincial Bank of San Luis, the Department of the Interior, the San José Ceramic Factory and Aerolíneas Argentinas, respectively.

Their statement, as it appears in the article, runs as follows: "At approximately 4:45 hours on 4 February 1978, some 100 meters from where the facilities of the La Florida Club Yacht and Fishing Club are located, they saw a UFO surrounded by a phosphorescent halo of light, a vessel suspended in the air at an approximate elevation of 4 meters over the ground, from which a small ladder emerged, allowing the descent of a being of human appearance, dressed in a scaly, shiny and form-fitting silver outfit. On its head it wore a transparent helmet that allowed for its face and blond hair to be seen; it smiled and gestured with its hand. Immediately after, the vessel in question took off in a northward heading, leaving behind a flash of light in the shape of a semi-circle." This, Giménez notes, represents the third point in the official report prepared by the provincial police and signed by Lt.Col. Raúl Benjamin López, who represented not only the provincial police force, but the Argentinean army as well..


MIB?

"Researchers, former police officers like Mr. Hugo Quiroga," writes Giménez, "and city residents observed and were alarmed by the "movements" of these strange characters (male and female) who headed to the sighting area to examine the impressions left on the ground and collect information on the witnesses themselves. Even the owner of the Hotel El Volcán was surprised by the antics of these characters.

The [Dique La Florida] incident was of worldwide importance due to the investigations made and the quality of the witnesses, including the physical evidence on the ground and the presence of military and police forces in the investigation, making known the first official report on the steps taken by a UFOnaut on our planet.

• More on the infamous MIB Jello case (or jelly as we call it in England) from Nick Redfern:

Every now and again, when I'm either lecturing on the Men in Black phenomenon, or being interviewed on radio on the subject, the matter of Jello surfaces. Yeah, really. It's a fact that the MIB and Jello have a connection, as strange as it certainly sounds. Google "Men in Black + Jello" and you'll see what I mean. You will find numerous references online to a certain case from the 1960s – involving a Man in Black and Jello. But, not everyone knows the full story. So, today, I thought I would rectify that.


..Very oddly, Major French – quite out of the blue – said that his stomach was causing him some trouble. Mrs. Butler offered him some Jello, which he quickly declined. He soon left. The next day, though, the major was back. Yet again, he complained about his stomach. Mrs. Butler again offered him a bowl of Jello, hoping that it might help. Here is where surreal became beyond surreal. For a moment or two, Major French stared at the Jello, seemingly completely unaware of what it was. He then stared at the spoon Mrs. Butler had given him, as if he had no comprehension of what it was. He then awkwardly picked up the bowl and proceeded to try and drink the Jello. Mrs. Butler went silent and stared in disbelief. Major French did not hang around, realizing, it seems, that Mrs. Butler knew something was not quite normal – which is an understatement of absolutely epic proportions. He quickly left, never again bothering Mrs. Butler

Perhaps one of the strangest cases involving the Men In Black is that of Dr. Herbert Hopkins in September 1976. The (then) 58-year-old hypnotist and regression specialist was working in a consulting capacity on a Maine UFO incident. It wasn't too much of a surprise, then, when he received a telephone call from a man claiming to be the vice-president of the New Jersey UFO Research Organization. The gentlemen wished to meet with Dr. Hopkins to discuss the case he was working on. As his wife and children had gone out for the evening, he agreed...

Apparently the doctor's encounter so disturbed him that after the visit he destroyed 2 months worth of taped sessions about a specific UFO case.

The UFO case in question was 'The Grey and Stephens Abduction' and it does sound like a very strange one - interesting to see 'falling leaf' motion being reported and yet another instance of a MIB masquerading as a UFO researcher (he said he was the Vice President of New Jersey UFO Organisation which doesn't exist).

• Claims that probably one of the most important scientists ever to investigate the UFO phenomenon suffered his fair share of 'surveillance, intimidation and harassment'.

From 1968 through 1970, inexplicable occurrences vexed McDonald. On airline trips his luggage was frequently "lost" and returned later, rifled through. A briefcase containing sensitive reports by military UFO witnesses was stolen off an airliner under mysterious, unexplained circumstances. McDonald was followed around Tucson by curious unmarked cars, and other signs of silent surveillance puzzled him. His persistence and perseverance brought him through these trials, but he began to privately suspect, with good reason, that government agents might be monitoring him. He confided his concerns only to a few close friends.

In September 1969, one of McDonald's daughters was raped and nearly murdered on the Harvard campus. The details of the attack were unexplained, and McDonald's repeated attempts to clarify them led to intense frustration..

Apparently Zoologist and UFO researcher Ivan T Sanderson (who thought 'UFOs seemed inextricably connected with water'') also experienced government intimidation and visits from mysterious black cadillacs - NASA Aerodynamicist Paul R. Hill also published his UFO research posthumously because he feared his academic research was being pulled purposefully from aeronautical firm libraries like Boeing/Lockheed and the main government agency he was 'fearful of' was the Pentagon's Defense Intelligence Agency.

"I started looking at it. There were no bolts, no rivets, no welded seams, it was smooth, it was like a barn gray. It had cones protruding, going up into it, bigger at the bottom, going up to smaller at the top. It took off like this [shows motion with his hand]. It remained flat and took off at a 45 degree angle."

"It took off so fast that if I blinked I would have thought it vanished but I had my eyes on it, and I know it took off flat at a 45 degree angle."


Summary of harassment:


He began to have military planes flying over his land and helicopters in a grid pattern, which frightened his livestock.


He has also had many strange phone calls


Sorrells has also had late night visitors on his property, sneaking around his house in more attempts to scare him.


A man showed up at his doorstep at 1:00 AM in the morning.


He claims that he was told by a Lt. Colonel to keep his mouth shut about what he saw. The Lt. Colonel wanted to meet with him and had a heated discussion over the phone when Sorrells declined. Sorrells asked the colonel to quit flying his helicopters over his airspace, the colonel arrogantly replied it was his airspace. The colonel then told Sorrells that he would quit flying the helicopters if he stopped talking.


Writer Angelina Joiner, formerly of the Empire Tribune speculates he was singled out due to the vivid detail of his sighting.

Writer Billy Booth, About.com speculates some group within our government, possibly working outside the auspices of the President, is taking care of business. And their business is the controlling of information.

Witness Harassment

I've been in something of a drought lately, but as I was looking at some of the information I had gathered on the Stephenville, Texas sightings of 2008, I found something interesting. Ricky Sorrells, who told the media including the Associated Press and CNN that he'd seen a huge, solid object during one of those sightings, also said that he had been intimidated by the military.

According to newspaper reports, including one of those filed by Angelia Joiner that was published in the Stephenville Empire-Tribune, Sorrells said that a man identifying himself as an Air Force lieutenant colonel had called and practically demanded that Sorrells allow him to come out to interview him (Sorrells, in case the various pronouns have become confusing).

Sorrells, according to what he told Joiner, was less than enthusiastic about that and that's when the discussion became heated. The caller, whoever he was, said, "Son, we have the same caliber weapons as you do but a lot more of them."

Then, according to the newspaper and Joiner, Sorrells said, "So, I said if he was who he said he was, why didn't he stop flying over my air space with all those helicopters. And he informed me that it was not my airspace – it was his. He told me if I'd quit talking about what I saw he would stop the helicopters."

While I'm skeptical that the man who called was, in fact, an Air Force officer, and I found his overblown rhetoric somewhat offensive, I don't know what to make of the next incident. Sorrells said that he had been in bed, asleep, when his dogs began to bark, which they didn't do unless someone entered Sorrells' property. Looking out his bedroom window, he saw a man standing at the top of his driveway.

Sorrells told the newspaper (meaning, I will assume here, Joiner) that he could see the man clearly, that he was in his late twenties or early thirties and he was wearing a heavy, "parka-like coat."

Apparently Stephenville UFO witness Steve Allen also received harassment in the form of strange phone calls:

Steve Allen - "I've had several different strange phone calls from different people. They did not identify themselves. They just said to be careful, that I was being watched, that what I do will be carefully scrutinized and I could be in danger."

• More claims of strange goings on from Minot, North Dakota, November 1961:

One harsh November evening in 1961, Paul Miller and three buddies were on their way home after a hunting trip close to Minot, North Dakota.

Suddenly, something they described as a "glowing silo" landed on a nearby field.

They first believed that it was an airplane that had crash landed, but they were forced to change their minds when the object suddenly disappeared.

But when the four decided to drive away, the object reappeared and two humanoids stepped out of the craft.

Miller, who was struck by panic, shot one of the beings, apparently injuring it. The second being fled. On the way home, Miller and his team had a "blackout" and lost track of three hours. They then decided not to tell the story to anyone.

The next day when Miller arrived at his office (at the Air Force), he was visited by three men wearing black suits.

They said that they were from the government and they began asking questions about his encounter and Miller later recalled "that it seemed that they knew everything about me, and they probably already knew my answers".

Instead it seemed that they were more interested in what clothes Miller had worn at the time of the encounter and the men followed Miller home to take a look at them.

The men made such a threatening impression on Miller that he didn't dare to tell his story for many years.

Strange men:

This author has learned that unknown men posing as military officials descended upon Wanaque in the period after the sighting to intimidate and dissuade talk about the UFO. And the source for this is the U.S. Pentagon itself! Found buried in the defunct civilian UFO research organization's publication APRO Bulletin (Jan-Feb, 1967) is a detailing of these "MIB" visits.

"Men dressed in uniforms or bearing credentials from government agencies have been silencing witnesses to the UFO at Wanaque. According to Pentagon spokesman Colonel George P. Freeman, 'These men are not connected to the Air Force in any way.' He cited a recent case in which the police officers and other witnesses at sightings in Wanaque, NJ and told them they had seen nothing and should not discuss the incident. Whoever he was, he wasn't' from the Air Force,' Freeman stated."

KEYHOE: That happened once when I was in Washington staying at a hotel where we almost always go, the Shoreham. I came back (to my room) and I couldn't find some material that I had brought down to check with NICAP. Finally one of the maids there, whom we had known for quite a little while, said, "Who are those men that have been looking for you?" And I said, "What's that?" And she said, "After you had registered, you mentioned you were going out somewhere. They came up and they were in your room. I don't what they were doing." Well, they got away with some stuff in there. But I very seldom take any red-hot material and leave it sitting around anywhere . . .

• Two more freaky MIB examples from Argentina:

USO /UFO Emerges From Ocean - Patagonia, Argentinean Atlantic


On one occasion, while performing a audit for the Perez Companc company's fishing fleet, he came a cross the crewman, or more properly said, the ship's machinist, who told him that during a personnel transfer trip from the Port of Golfo San Jorge to the YPF undersea drilling platform, halfway there, something got the crew excited, prompting sailors and oil rig personnel to look over the sides of the vessel. One can imagine their surprise when they looked over the side to see a light underwater, running past the ship at high speed. A few kilometers ahead, it broke the surface, rising vertically and swiftly before vanishing into the skies.

The story is in itself remarkable, but what happened days later, when the personnel reached the port with the relief crew, they encountered some men dressed in black waiting to interview each of them, using harsh and intimidating measures, threatening them with job loss should they attempt to share their experiences with others.

The Necochea Incident - August, 1962


On August 29, 1962, the event that has become known as the "Necochea Incident" took place. The main witness, Osmán Alberto Simonini, saw a UFO and was chased by it along the road linking La Dulce with Necochea as he traveled toward this seaside city.

Senior Officer Juan Jose La Terza investigated this case on the day after the events occurred. He submitted a report on the presence of a strange device, describing the witness as a man "of fine reputation and perfectly reliable in his statements." He ended his memorandum by certifying the event as a REAL INCIDENT, as told by the witness. It details the sighting of an object, its transit over the countryside, causing physical and/or physiological impact on the witness, the possible chase among other details.

This case was investigated by Guillermo Gimenez years later, who interviewed Simonini. The latter was afraid to discuss the events from 1962 because only days after the incident, and the investigation performed by Senior Officer J.J. La Terza, two men dressed in black appeared at his workshop. They warned him to forget all about the event, admonishing not to tell anyone else about it, since something might happen to him. The witness recalls that he was struck by the color of their clothing (black) and the similarity of these garments. They stood approximately 1.70 meters, were dark-haired, "foreign-looking" due to their Eskimo-like features. I wanted to set down these cases as examples, so readers who are encountering this description of the entities for the first time can have an idea that they represent a significant part of many of the stories that come across our desk.

• Robert Fleischer describes a close range pilot UFO encounter from Germany on August 13th, 1976 where a yellow, oval shaped object flew just off the left wing of a Piper Arrow aircraft.

Apparently the pilot's magnetic compass was spinning wildly and Hanover Airport also confirmed the UFO on radar - two F4 Phantom jets were sent up to investigate and the object departed at high speed (compass went back to normal).

Upon landing a military van (without licence plates) pulled up to the plane and five men with suits got out - they wouldn't identify who they worked for but detained and interrogated the pilot for over 3 hours in an underground room on airport property.

After the questioning they tried to make him sign a document stating that he would never disclose details of his UFO sighting to the public, the pilot refused and they then threatened to suspend his pilot's licence - subsequently parts of the lower aircraft had become permanently magnetised and had to be replaced.

• Welsh incident from November ,1997 also involves 2 plain clothes men warning a family not to talk about their experiences.

A well researched case of alien abduction comes from Wales, and well-known researcher Margaret Fry. The case involves missing time and lost memories, a typical scenario for abduction. Multiple sightings of UFOs over the Great Orme, a legendary and mysterious mountainous region in North Wales, preceded the events of November 10, 1997 by several days. One family would have their entire lives changed within a short period of time by encountering a strange UFO.

amily was motoring on the Bodfair-Landemog highway, when without a warning, their car was overwhelmed by a purple flying object which seemed to attach itself to their car. This brief moment of terror would be followed by another in which the UFO was gone. They were again driving their car down the road, but now they were trying to understand what had happened. The had not a clue.

Margaret Fry's Statement:
"But they could not account for considerable hours of time lost," said Fry.
"The male was having trouble afterwards with a top molar tooth and he had to go to the dentist's... and a black unknown object fell out while he was at the dentist's-but he had no fillings," she said.

Men in Black:

After the trip to the dentist's office, the husband made a report of the family's strange encounter on the highway to local authorities. Shortly thereafter, he was visited on two separate occasions by plain-clothed men identifying themselves as Air Force personnel. He was warned to never talk about his family's incident. The men looked like the legendary American "men in black."

Date: April 25 1978 Time: afternoon


UFO Researcher, Pat De La Franier was at his office going over some detailed UFO reports he wanted to present on a local UFO program when there was a sudden knock at the door. Now, where his office is located, he could hear everyone coming in the main door, being admitted, and then walking down the hall. But this knock came from nowhere, and when he opened the door, there was a very odd-looking man standing there. He was dressed entirely in black. He was about 5 ft 6 inches tall, extremely thin, with a slightly enlarged head.
His hair was just nubs, as if he had been completely shaved and the hair was just growing back. His skin had a strange olive hue. His lips were very thin, and his cheeks were so sunken in that they looked like they were pinned on the inside. His eyes were dark and extremely long; they literally wrapped around his temples. La Franier stated that he had never seen eyes like that, "They just bored into me". The stranger just stood there staring at the witness, who did not move. La Franier was fixated on his eyes and he felt intruded upon on a mental level. Finally, after a full minute, he spoke. "Would you like a photograph of your family?" It was a strange question, and his voice was very strange, too. It was low and hesitant as if this man had absolutely no conception of how to speak, how to put a sentence together. His English was impeccable, but he was struggling to get through the sentence. La Franier said no that he did not need any more pictures. And with that the stranger stepped back, turned and just disappeared. The man was completely gone, later La Franier discovered that many of his files and papers were missing.

• Two doctors witness MIB get into UFO:

In 1971, Arguello de la Mota and Antonio Arocha, both physicians, were in San Juan de los Morros, a small town not far from Caracas, Venezuela, when they were startled by the unexpected arrival of two characters dressed in black who drove into the dusty town in a sporty Mustang. Unaware that they were being watched, the MIB exchanged remarks and donned orange-colored belts. Suddenly, a brilliant object appeared in the sky, descending rapidly to the surface. The doctors swore that the object was a 60-foot-wide disk-shaped craft, which produced a parabolic ladder while hovering inches off the ground. The MIB entered the vehicle, which rose into the skies and vanished out of sight.

MIB in China:

Most readers will be surprised to learn that Men in Black are not an exclusively Western phenomenon. In his book, China and the Extraterrestrials (Difel, 1985—translation available in French and in Portuguese), author Shi Bo relates an interview between newspaperman Wang Shili and a military chauffeur named Li Jing­yang, who had a UFO experience in Shansi province in 1963, when he was only six years old.

While out with his friends, Li Jingyang noticed an awe-inspiring discoid object emerging from the clouds in an otherwise clear sky. The terrified boys observed the UFO closely, which remained static in the sky for some ten minutes.

The following day, while walking the streets alone, Li was surprised by a tall man "completely dressed in black" who stopped him in his tracks, barring his way and demanding to know what the boy had seen. "Since I ­didn't understand him very well," the hapless witness explained, "he repeated his question, and I replied yes. He pointed at the sky, where the luminous object had staged its appearance and asked me again: was it there? I told him yes. He advised me to never tell others what I'd seen. Only after I gave him my word of honor did he allow me to leave."

Li Jingyang recalls the man as having dark skin, adding that many other people saw him and discussed the strange character, whose "gestures were incomprehensible." The Man in Black walked in a mechanical manner and its mouth did not move whenever it spoke. It disappeared suddenly after turning around a street corner.

M.I.B.: Rarely Seen On UFOs

If there is one thing which can be said about the Men in Black, it's that they are inextricably tied to the UFO phenomenon. Alien abductees have been visited and threatened by the MIB. The Men in Black have intimidated people who have seen UFOs soaring in the skies above them. Researchers and investigators of the matter of unidentified flying objects have been intimidated into silence by the pale-faced, scrawny MIB. We see the Men in Black threatening people in their own homes, following them in black cars late at night, and terrifying them with threat-filled phone calls.

But, we rarely get reports of Men in Black seen on-board UFOs. Taking into consideration their undeniable links to all things flying and saucer-shaped, you would assume that the black-garbed things would be seen regularly on-board UFOs. Nope. In fact, the number of such cases on record are extremely small. As to why this might be, well, that's an issue which remains baffling. In my own files, I only have a handful of such cases. One really stands out..


.As I said, I only have several such cases on record. And, admittedly, I'm puzzled as to why – for beings that are so deeply linked to the UFO mystery – the MIB should hardly ever be seen inside UFOs. Are they overlords – as Melanie suggested – who usually watch in stealth and from afar? Occasionally making themselves known to those who they select for abduction? The questions, potentially, are many. The answers? There are none. Yet...

• Always been pretty fascinated with this pilot radar case from Mexico and apparently the MIBs looked 'Scandinavian'.

It was only with some reluctance that he agreed to appear on a TV show, hosted by ufologist and TV personality Pedro Ferriz, to talk about his experience, live. Little did he know that his bizarre experience was to become even more bizarre.

Two weeks later, driving to the television studio, Carlos noticed a large, black Ford Galaxy limousine pull in front of him. Looking in his rear-view mirror, he noticed another car of the same type just behind him. Both cars looked brand new, as if they had just been driven out of the showroom. He described them as "cars like the one used by diplomats." The cars crowded him, forcing him to pull over and stop. He was about to get out when he realised that the other two cars had also stopped, disgorging four tall, broad-shouldered men, who were walking towards him.

The men were "Scandinavian" in appearance, with very pale skin and wearing black suits. One of them walked up to Carlos's car door, standing with his hand on it, preventing Carlos from getting out. Speaking quickly in Spanish, with a strange "mechanical" tone, the man said "Look boy, if you value your life and your family's too, don't talk any more about this sighting of yours." Stunned speechless, Carlos turned his car around and drove home; he never made it to the television studio that day.

Carlos described his experience to Pedro Ferriz two days later who (interestingly) said that he had heard similar stories from UFO witnesses before..

Apparently one of them also popped up later that year when the witness tried to meet Hynek.

In mid-June of the same year, Dr J. Allen Hynek (former astronomical consultant of the USAF investigation of UFOs Project Blue Book, one of the key figures in UFO research) was travelling through Mexico and, having heard about the de los Santos case, invited Carlos to his hotel to discuss his experience. Carlos went to Dr Hynek's hotel after having gone for his interview with Mexicana Airlines, with whom he had applied for a job as a pilot.

Walking up the hotel steps, Carlos was shocked to meet one of the strange men who had threatened him before. "You were already warned once," the stranger said, "You are not to talk about your experience." Carlos protested his innocence, saying that he was only responding to an invitation from Dr Hynek. At this the stranger pushed him sharply back several feet. "Look, I don't want you to make problems for yourself", he said, "And why did you leave your house at six this morning? Do you work for Mexicana Airlines? Get out of here - and don't come back!"

Carlos did as he was told. This proved to be Carlos's last encounter with the strangers. Two years later, when talking to UFO researcher Jerome Clark and his friend Richard Heiden, he recalled "They were strange. They were huge, taller than Mexicans are, and they were so white. But the strangest thing of all is that all the while they were in my presence I never saw them blink."

• Intriguing report concerning the Pierce Township UFO incident from 1991 where six firemen allegedly witnessed a long, blue, cylindrical/spherical shaped object hovering above the road whist answering a call for a routine car accident.

One of the firemen is interviewed below and also mentions they were all summoned into the Fire Department office the next day and informed by three 'intimidating' plain clothed strangers that:

"this incident didn't happen, you didn't see anything and don't talk about it".

In the autumn of 1991 six firemen from the Pierce Township Fire Department were called out on what they initially believed to be a routine job. The emergency phone call came in as a car accident.

Louis Spears, one of the firemen, is interviewed on "UFO Report". He refused to talk about the UFO incident for several years.

Spears claims that when he arrived at the scene of what he thought was a car accident, he saw an unknown, cylindrical shaped object which hovered beside the pickup truck. Another fireman said that the unknown object was spherical shaped.

Spears recounts that he and the other firemen were summoned back to the Fire Department the next day. There they were allegedly debriefed by three plain clothed strangers. The strangers were intimidating and told the firemen that "this incident didn't happen".

The incident was investigated by the late Kenny Young (RIP) and reporter Donnie Blessing who also makes some interesting comments below about how the Fire department records and files for this case went conveniently missing.

• In the presentation found in the first post John Keel does engage in a bit of speculation that (the genuinely freaky) MIBs may have always been with us down the ages - below is some further conjecture also including the 'King of the World' myth - make of it what you will.

MIB phenomena is interesting on several levels, so many, in fact, that is is difficult to know where to begin. For instance, on the surface it would appear that MIB is one of those very few legends that can be traced to it's ultimate source, i.e. Bender. However, a brief persual of human history suggests that this might not necessarily be the case. A tradition of MIB-type entities, that is mysterious dark-clothed individuals with sinister intentions, can be followed back to ancient times and across virtually all cultures. At least as far back as biblical times there has been a tradition in the Middle East of men attired in black robes and turbans attempting to lure victims out into the desert for unspecified sinister purposes. Likewise, in central and Southern Europe during the middle ages there existed a genuine fear among the inhabitants of those regions of black-clad beings who wandered the countryside performing indiscriminate acts of vampirism on humans and livestock alike. Fairy lore allows for otherwise human-looking fairies who dress in black and delight in causing mischief in the human world. The fact that MIB are often (in fact nearly always) described as having Asian features is interesting in light of the fact that there is a long-standing myth in China, Tibet, and India that a superior race of humans live beneath the surface of the earth who occasionally send "agents" dressed in black to the surface to surveil and or/manipulate human affairs. (This is known as the "King of the World" myth.) Native Americans feared the "Black Man" who supposedly lurked in the forests with malicious intent. There are even what could be considered MIB-type undertones in Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1835 short story, Young Goodman Brown.
