The church layout, design, and intentional creation of shapes and forms are explained aptly in the book Science of the Sacraments...todays churches at least here in the US are so often just lifeless husks of concrete and drywall designed to fit as many communion givers inside, hence Sarges point of its all about money to many folks these days.
I use the time to reflect and meditate, and realign my goals for the next year with the environment in play, and do enjoy the way I feel when the new year arrives.
Of course as LMD says, retail can kill your faith in humanity, watching usually sane people act like looney birds as they scurry about chasing their chinese crap.

I have spent years wandering locations of megalithic sites and later churches which were built upon their locations, I have spent countless hours in cathedrals observing in My own strange manner and been acknowledge by the priests as Le sourcier.

But I have gone far further than this and plotted out the matrix that consciousness flows upon in it's duality of spin, it's manipulation/s by materials it created I know and can detect, We are it's creation and are part of it, given our own dual field to live and experience within, that field is variable and can be upgraded and diminished.

The darkness of this duality will one day turn Your vehicle into dust as part of the living planet, fear not as We are eternal and will arise into a higher dimension, there is no death as the fairy story of Jesus informs You.
The planet does not die on the winter solstice, it begins to rise again on the 25th and climbs one degree higher after this each day.

Thus the ratio of light over darkness flows of consciousness rises in favour of the light , and life abounds.

Seems the Pagans were just following a much older time honored tradition as were so many cultures from around the planet.

Christianity (Constantine and his goons)hijacked the Jesus myth for their own version of the Pagan Sol, but they werent alone.

If I knew of any "Merry Christmas" I would agree, but there isn't any, and that is all part of the control agenda, they don't want INFORMATION been shared about at gatherings , they want everyone separated and thus only able to hear their controlled information, it's been going on for many years but the internet has meant they have to rapidly push on fast.

Churches are located very carefully upon a matrix, they do not face east/west, they comply to the matrix.

If You can obtain a really good compass check exactly the orientation, I assure You it has nothing actually to do with compass but that is all You have to determine unless You enter my strange world of dowsing, and that world really upsets many people.
Many later ( since victorian times) churches are compass orientated and do not operate as the earlier churches due to wrong orientation , which can just be a few degrees.

Unfortunately many peoples religious beliefs stop them from ever entertaining the actual function of churches as their EGO ( belief system) demands to be correct, it's how many wars are started with competing religious beliefs demanding to be the only one.

Christmas timing is all about the sun and it's apparent lowering and then arising higher on the 25th of Dec, may the sun shine on all here.

One can look at the temples of India, primarily the ones surrounding Angkor Wat and in that region, they are numerous.
Many are older, unmaintained, and virtually unknown to anyone who isnt familiar with them.

Some are aligned to cardinal points, some are slightly off in one direction or another.

Were these mistakes during construction or intentional placements based on the particular flows of energy across or through the site?

If we look at the way some are slightly off cardinal points, and some arent, does this tell us some were designed and built when the planet was on a different tilt or precessional point?
Or was it some poor Hindu architect who was bad at reading his instruments?

Christmas has so many elements brought in by so many different religions and cultures, what does it represent in common to all of the people who celebrate it in one way?

Zoroastrian Magi?
Essene shenanigans?
Dozens of astrotheological implications?

Its all based on the same thing at its core, and the emergence of agriculture is linked deeply to this one element...when to plant.
Even here a small Tocobaga Native American site in the middle of my busy town, has a geoglyph which is a human figure with a longbow, and the arrow held in the bow ready to fire faces the Orion constellation perfectly on the moment it breaks the horizon at sunset on December 21st.

The most prominent constellation has for millennia been a indicator of various elements of cultures which considered it to be a tool for timing the planting or preparation of farmland for the upcoming growing season.

God is great if you need one, but we really need food to keep us alive.
As I leave for fishing today, adjacent to the area of the Orion geoglyph, I have once again noticed a shift in the way the fish are moving and feeding, and how the timing coincides with certain species appearing and disappearing right around this week, as it always has since I was a boy fishing these same waters.

Merry Christmas indeed, Jesus is another "fisher" of men among many, such a simple solution, its ironic so much has been built upon those simple truths and called religion, when all that is needed is to observe and respect the reality of our surroundings silently and reflectively.

My church faces west.

Where I live we have a few churches. The newest, built in the 1960s or 1970s, faces SSE. Another one, built with part of the ruins of the previous one on that place, near the Almada castle, faces W. Another one, built from scratch in the same place as another one that was destroyed (like the one I mentioned above) by the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake, points ESE. Finally, there's another (old) church that faces W. I think all the churches (except the first mentioned) were built (or rebuilt) after the earthquake, during the 18th century, but the last one mentioned may be slightly younger. There's also a chapel facing NNW and a seminary that has a church facing ESE.

That's probably why I never thought they were supposed to point all in the same direction.

Aren't compasses affected by the fact that the magnetic north pole is not the same as the astronomical north pole?

The Sun starts to arise higher on the 22nd of December, I see it (if the weather allows) rise during the 10 days or so around the solstice.
