Umm shouldn't you thank the TECHNICIANS? The ones who worked hard to get your power back to you?

No because those assholes sat for three days right outside the parish while people were suffering, so their union could negoiate a better contract. So don't talk to me about 'TECHNICIANS'. Oh and you won't read about that in the Newspapers. Just inside info i have. Oh and they let contractors from out pf state in the parish for tree removal and they under cut the locals.

They tend to do those type of things when people really need services.

Down here, you will find baggage handlers go on strike at airports around holiday breaks.

So no way on the harp thing Ron? Yeah I think harrp is the wrong thing to look for for weather modification. Good disinfo but , must be something the Navy has up their sleeve? I mean weather has been their thing for ever , who would love to  control  the weather more ? ;D

I still have a gut feeling that this storm was steered, look at this animation, back when they first started running models, they had no center to work with but they ran the models anyway. The models had it coming right to Tampa in time for the RNC.Then as the storm was about 68 Degrees west it suddenly slides southwest and they run the models again @70 degrees west  and lo and behold it misses Tampa
http://hurricane.terrapin.com/ATL-09A/
had the wrong degrees , just changed it .

Zorgon , maybe they fool with the weather just 'cause they can ! Maybe they just want to practice in case they need to make something happen  :D I don't know ,it was just a gut reaction I had , like John says "It's nice to know all these things ,but they don't mean shit " hahhahha !!
When you die you will find out that John Lear was right..........Hoss

Oh good grief... what the BLEEP is wrong with the hu-mon race these days...

Okay my bad  my point fell off the cliff   :-[

Sgt.Rocknroll

Sorry for going off like i did. Stress is an amazing thing. What really chaps my butt is now they're saying the delay was because they had to assess all the leaning poles and broken cross bracings. Well the fact of the matter is all the ones they're currently straighting are from KATRINA! We've had poles on BC hwy at a 20-30 degree lean off 90 for SEVEN YEARS!!! So yeah I'm a little pissed! But all will be forgotten as soon as football season starts!

Oh and they let contractors from out of state in the parish for tree removal and they under cut the locals.

Greetings:

As one of those 'out of state contractors', we have found that the 'locals' have had it their way for so long that they have routinely over-charged their customers because they have had no real competition.

My company can usually remove a tree from a structure more efficiently and at a lower cost than most of the 'locals' because that is what we do for as living - not a side business to landscaping - for example.

We have done a number of FREE jobs through the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church here -
how many FREE jobs did your 'local boys' give away?    ???

Besides that, when TSHTF in past storms, the locals were overwhelmed and needed the out of state contractors.

We came from North Georgia

on our own dime

to assist those in need

and have not charged a penny    8)

the local cry babies
can stuff it or grow up

Believe me I'm not anti-out of state contractors, but I would much rather have my fellow parish members working than out of state people. We have a lot of low income people that need the work. This storm was only bad, not because of the winds but because of the duration and the lack of power. And just exactly what do you mean 'had it their way for too long'? This is OUR home.

this reminds me of gangs of new york, where the two volunteer fire stations fight over who gets to salvage, while the house burns.

And then there is the fact that there could be some people who dont have generators and need power to keep their ventilators going.

Babies who might need their milk warm and not bloody cold.

There are those issues too before they start haggling over their rates.
I know that I know nothing - thanks Capricorn.

One day there may be no power for a long time... what then?  Have Hu-mons forgotten the basics? I know they did in Japan...

May I suggest....

For emergency...  you can sterilize water, have a bath and even make tea :D

robomont

maybe thats the real reason bloomberg and breastmilk deal.maybe he thinks water and electricity may fail.
just a crossover thought.

We agree totally.

Most of what we do is beyond the pay grade of the 'local boys'    ;)
and saw nary a one of them immediately after Katrina    :'(
assisting authorities with opening roads for emergency vehicles    ???

QuoteWe have a lot of low income people that need the work.

Again, these fine people are useful for yard clean-up, etc.
but do not have the equipment nor expertise as we do    ;D

We are heavily insured, volunteer firefighters
with the appropriate equipment and years of experience

who are professionals in our field and specialize
in removing trees from structures safely
and at a lower cost than the locals because
that is what we do all the time - not pick-up work
after hurricanes as an aside to a landscaping business    ;)

QuoteThis storm was only bad, not because of the winds but because of the duration and the lack of power.

Just exactly what I said.

We were in Louisiana and Mississippi for over a year
after Katrina/Rita and many times underbid the locals
on BLIND BIDS because they charge more than we
professionals do and then they bitch    ???

You'all sang a different tune when we were first-in after Katrina   ;)

BTW, just exactly how many FREE tree removals
did your 'local boys' accomplish post-Isaac?

After all, it is YOUR home and
you'all take care of your own - right?
    8)

BTW, we left all of Louisiana to the locals and have returned to Georgia.

It's really beneath me to respond to any of this any more.
I believe the last post speaks for it's self. I'm done.
