Newkie broons...number one ale!

Le
You are referring to Newcastle Brown Ale ???...For some reason that stuff is really expensive here....At least for my budget...A little to bitter for me.

Just give Me a burgundy which is not TOO dry, or a stout a spoon can stand up in and I'm happy.  (No aluminum cans!)

The only alcoholic spirit of any description that I have ever encountered, which I do not particularly like, is rum; although admittedly, the only two brands of that which I have had, were Bundaberg, (brown) and Bacardi, which is white.  I have also never been a wine drinker, and while beer can be tolerable, the paler the better.

I do not drink any more, as a general rule, but when I did, my poison of choice was generally Wild Turkey; and preferably either the 8 year aged or the Rare Breed, if I could afford it.  The cheapest grade is 4 year aged from memory, and is very harsh, comparitively speaking.

Usually I would mix Wild Turkey with Coke; particularly if I only had the lesser aged grade.  I have drunk all three grades of Wild Turkey directly from the bottle, but given its' corrosiveness, it is not the best drink for that purpose.  I have a bottle of Dimple Scotch in the wardrobe behind me as I type, and taking small sips of that on ice is acceptable.  Chivas Regal, however, would probably be even better for that purpose, as while I believe that Dimple is a higher grade Scotch, it is also stronger.

Although it is not my first choice, I have also been known to drink Jack Daniels when it has been available, and to quite enjoy it; it can even be slightly more enjoyable than Wild Turkey if it is mixed appropriately, as its' foreground flavour is somewhat stronger.  Jim Beam for me, is probably the most dubious of the bourbons that I have had, despite it being my father's drink of choice.  It is not so much that I actively dislike it, but rather that it needs to be mixed more carefully than probably anything else I have had, in order to be enjoyable.

Irish whiskey I have virtually no experience with; although from memory, there was a cheap one which some friends used to share with me in Sunbury on occasion.  It did the job, but it was not particularly noteworthy either way.

Having a single kidney has meant that I have had to almost completely forsake alcohol; and given that whiskey truthfully has been one of the greater joys of my life, that is to my sorrow.  Had I still both kidneys, I would be an avid connoiseur; and not for the purposes of alcoholic escapism, but simply because it is enjoyable.  I drink alcohol primarily for the taste; if altered states are what I am looking for, I will generally look elsewhere.

Sorry, Petrus.  It will never work between Us.  [grin]  I like M'beer so dark and thick a spoon stands up in it.  I guess this is it, then.  [wink]

You could drink that as much as you wanted; just don't expect me to.  I will admit that my only use for Guinness, is as an emetic. ;)

I'm so tempted to change my avatar to Johnny Depp as a pirate.  On second thoughts, I'm way better looking that him so I'll leave it.   :o
