Anonymous Operation Israel - Communique

Greetings World —

For the past week, we in Anonymous have come together with many other allied cyber-activist groups from around the globe to conduct Operation Israel. Our mission was three-fold, and clearly stated: to do everything in our power to keep the innocent people of Gaza connected to the world, to interfere with the brutal aggression aimed at them by the IDF - and to help give a voice to the voiceless. We feel that we have succeeded in these goals.

We are gratified and immensely relieved, as is everyone in the world - to hear of the announced cease fire between Hamas and the IDF. No one in the world desires a just and lasting peace more than Anonymous. While we in the collective have no problem interfering in war, we do NOT believe it is productive to interfere with peace.

We will therefore stand down immediately from all further cyber attacks upon the IDF or Israel so as not to risk this delicate and perilous cease fire arrangement.

Likewise, we encourage all those cyber groups who have joined with us to also cease and desist now from aggressive acts, and give this cease-fire a chance. We ask this NOT on behalf or for the benefit of either the government of Israel, or Hamas - but we beg it of you on behalf of the innocent people of Gaza, that they may no longer be slaughtered with impunity.

But let no one misunderstand us. Anonymous will continue to monitor the Internet and other communications lines into and out of Gaza.

We will continue to watch closely BOTH sides in this war. And we will continue to advocate by all peaceful means at our disposal for a just and lasting peace for Palestine and Israel, as well as the entire world.


We will be vigilant, we will be active.

Operation Israel is NOT going anywhere, and the innocent people of Gaza will never be alone again.

Let this Operation be an object lesson to any government or entity anywhere who believes they can turn off the Internet ...

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian man and wounded 19 people as crowds surged toward Gaza's border fence with Israel on Friday, a health official said, the first violence since a truce between Israel and Gaza's Hamas rulers took hold a day before.

The shooting did not appear to pose an immediate threat to the Egypt-brokered cease-fire, which called for an end to Gaza rocket fire on Israel and Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. The truce came after eight days of cross-border fighting, the bloodiest between Israel and Hamas in four years.

... On Friday, hundreds of Palestinians approached Israel's border fence in several locations in southern Gaza, according to an Associated Press Television News cameraman. In the past, Israel's military has barred Palestinians from getting close to the fence, and soldiers opened fire routinely to enforce a no-go zone meant to prevent infiltrations into Israel.

... Some Palestinians briefly talked to the soldiers, while others appeared to be taunting them with chants of "God is Great" and "Morsi, Morsi," in praise of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, whose mediation led to the truce.

... At one point, a soldier shouted in Hebrew, "Go there, before I shoot you," and pointed away from the fence, toward Gaza. The soldier then dropped to one knee, assuming a firing position. Eventually, a burst of automatic fire was heard, but it was not clear whether any of the casualties were from this incident.

Gaza health official Ashraf al-Kidra said a 20-year-old man was killed and 19 people were wounded. more

Palestinians in Gaza hurl rocks, attempt to breach border fence | The Times of Israel

Dozens of Palestinians hurled rocks at Israeli forces and attempted to breach the Gaza border fence on Friday, according to the IDF spokesperson to the international press, Avital Leibovich.

IDF sources said they fired warning shots in the air near the border with southern Gaza following "disturbances in the area."

Palestinian sources reported earlier Friday that a 21-year-old man was killed and at least six injured by Israeli fire east of Khan Younis in the Strip.

According to one version of events, the Palestinians who neared the border fence were agricultural workers. But according to another report, the Palestinians were on their way to prayers, and a family member of the man allegedly killed told Reuters that the 21-year-old had attempted to place a Palestinian flag on the fence. more
