GOP Congressman Threatens Impeachment If Obama Uses Executive Action for Gun Con

It is about time someone with Congressional responsibilities to the people, took a stand against this continuing Presidential tyranny. It still remains for us to see how the "gun issues" develop to what result.

Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman threatened Monday afternoon that he would file articles of impeachment against President Barack Obama if he institutes gun control measures with an executive order.

Stockman warned that such executive orders would be "unconstitutional" and "infringe" on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms." (RELATED: Levin: If Obama sidesteps Congress on debt ceiling, 'no choice' but impeachment)

"I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment," Stockman said in a statement.

At his press conference Monday, Obama floated the possibility of using executive action to enact policies aimed at reducing gun violence.

The freshman congressman, who served one term in Congress in the mid-1990s, further labeled the possibility "an existential threat to this Nation because, he said, the purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow the people to protect themselves from tyranny. (RELATED VIDEO — Walter Williams: People misunderstand the point of the Second Amendment)

"Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible," he added. "Under no circumstances whatsoever may the government take any action that disarms any peaceable person — much less without due process through an executive declaration without a vote of Congress or a ruling of a court."

He concluded by claiming that an executive order would be not just "not just an attack on the Constitution," but also an "attack on Americans."

"If the president is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist," he said.

Hehehe, "god" forbid those republicans have to turn in their guns...they only want to disarm those who disagree with their dogmatic doctrines...

Better impeach the democratic president before republicans have to answer to the same rules as everyone else...

Ridiculous if you ask me, and clearly indicative of an elitist agenda.

Noones taking my guns, and I dont need some half baked repuke from Texas to pretend to be sticking up for me, when hes really doing what they all do up in Washington, and look out after their own greedy elitist arses.

All current politicians should be impeached..right now...and we need to find some decent replacements who really care about America instead of their fat bank accounts and worldly possesions...which constitute their entire world.

Its also a shame religion has such a strong grip on sanity in our hallowed halls...we could really have a great country if theyd stop using their belief systems to bolster their opinions and sick ideals...we need a non denominational government and as long as these a-holes ride their respective dogmas everywhere they go, were in for a long, long wait for fairness and a true loving society led by good men.

Not buying it....

Gee LE,

I dont quite understand, what has religion got to to with O and his
gun grabbing administration?

The Catholics are all for gun control, dont you know?
They just dont want birth control, two seperate issues.

It's predictable that he is from Texas.  They've always been one of the most restive states in the Union; they've had a secessionist movement for years.

I can't see this going anywhere, however.  Congress are bought and paid for, as always.  The Republicans might filibuster on as much as they can, purely in order to antagonise what they view as a black Muslim President, but from what I've seen, the corporatocracy like Obama.  They might increase the usual bribes for a month or two if necessary to pull a few people back into line, if others start getting ideas; but that is as far as it will go.

The legislative branch has always been the Achilles' heel of the Republic, exactly as it was with Rome.  This is because as with Rome, the American Congress is exclusively a gerontocracy, and is perpetually, systemically corrupt.  It has been proven time and again that the only form of legislature that works, is a direct assembly of the population themselves, as was done in Sparta, and as we saw in Occupy, with their General Assemblies.

"Representative," legislature does not work, never has, and never will.

Hey BTS, religion is always involved whether spoken or not when it comes to these fundamental Republicans..otherwise I wouldnt have brought it up.
And Im never going to stick up for catholics..thats for sure!

I think anyone who deals with the Republican fundamentalists especially those from Tay-hass...knows that religion is an underlying issue whereas in other places it might not be as much.

Thanks for noticing though! ;)

Still, not seeing it. The majority of Repubicans are just towing a party
line, they only religion they believe in is The State.

Paychecks they can cash, yeah that makes for a nice Sunday.

However, there does exist a core group of people, whatever the voting
affiliation that will not stand by to allow the destabilzation of America,
well at least not just yet. Two more generations, LE.

True BTS the only religion they "believe" in is the state..true hypocrits....but they always use religion to sway the vote and opinion..and thats bad enough as it is.

You know...anyone watching the RNC knows in their hearts who the evil in this country really is..and I dont need to convince anyone of that fact...not that I care for democrats either...its just that the reds are so blatant about their disdain for the people aside from the elite, its disgusting.

Both parties are filled with pompous windbags and back biting members...no doubt.

While I agree that it's unconstitutional...where was this guy when the NDAA went through!?!  Geez.  That's JUST as unconstitutional!  And has such far-reaching ramifications!

No matter the negative thoughts and opinions on this. The "threat of the 2nd amendment" regarding "arms" will cause a conscientious determination on however this gun thing turns out.

Some of you are full of "it", regarding your comments about Texas. Of course your welcome to your opinions, but most of them do seem to stray a bit far from the facts. Oops, facts do get fairly distorted for those who likely get most of their " "supposed facts" from mainstream news sources, and the leftist Democratic party.

Texas is still a wonderful place to live, in spite of the continuing invasion from our southern border, which has been compounded by our President's refusal to uphold the laws in that regard.

I am a "born in Texas" Texan, and I am proud that one of our elected officials had made it clear, by taking a 2nd Amendment stand on the gun issue. Of course, it is really not a "gun issue" anyway! It is a a combined host of people related issues that need to be dealt with, over time.

The Demo loud mouths are not really concerned about kids having been killed! If they were, does it make sense that they support the killing of of millions of babies (50 million +) over the past 40+ years via abortion. Sandy Hook = less than 30, vs 1.2 million abortions per year, vs only 10,000 (prox) deaths per year by gunshot - murders, suicides, police action, accidents, etc etc.???????????

Amaterasu

Not to jump track here, but zygotes and fetuses are not babies.

At any rate, where was Your "constitution-protecting" dude when the NDAA came through?

Well put Petrus..spot on.

Thank you, Dave.  Having respect for the Constitution's authors does not, in my own mind, forfeit my right to occasionally disagree with them.  In all honesty, there are not a lot of areas where I do disagree with them; but the existence and nature of the legislative branch, specifically, is one area where I do.  I have never seen any evidence to suggest that the American Congress is really good for anything.

If it does, it shows them as hypocrites.  Where were the Republican filibusters to block all of the monstrous things that George W. Bush did?

It has been repeatedly proven, as far as I am concerned, that the Republican Party only shows any signs of having a conscience, when the evil actions they are blocking, are those taken by a Democratic President.

True Petrus, not everything in our great constitution os worthy of keeping in there..but of course the person who doesnt resort to partisan bickering would see that.

At any rate, as long as we are saddled with these people who pontificate on the differences between democraps and repukes, we shall wallow in the mire.

We all are the same at birth..insane people just choose to divide and separate us into groups and cliques, which only serves a confrontational agenda.

Rdunk, perhaps you should step back and see that your separatism is part of the problem my friend, those who are of your same opinions and thinking are the reason we have such a quagmire of disjointed laws and rules governing us all, written by those who are clearly greedy and insane.

If Americans who think this way would stop being so hard-headed and realize they are making themselves even more distant from a perfect world with such behaviour and ideals, such as religious zeal, and forced political dogmas of past failures which our country is slowly becoming founded upon, we could all move forward.

Unfortunately, we must wait for the "old guard" to die off, and hope their offspring will see the reality and insanity of their forefather's poor choices and mistakes.
