PLAYSWITHMACHINES

Thanks people, i appreciate every word.
You guys are like family to me ;) so i would like to post a few words;

QuoteMy mother always carried the weight of the world on her shoulders.
Every time she would hear of an elephant or a whale getting killed, or people getting hurt, she would cry.
She would go to the town hall & demand answers. She would write to the local papers.
She joined all kinds of charities, and still managed to raise four troublesome boys single-handed.
She could cook (really cook), wash, sew, clean the house.
And she had a daytime job.

All this, and she was BLIND
(Most people who met my mum for the first time didn't even know it).
But she was like 'Master Po' with that stick of hers!
We wanted so much for her to retire in comfort, stop worrying about us, or the (declining) world around her.

But that was never going to happen.
At least she spent her last years in peace & quiet, in a sleepy village just like she wanted to.

We wanted so much for her to SEE, and see the new age that was ever on the horizon.

Well she never got to see that either, and the way things are going, neither will i.
But our children or grandchildren will, and the future will be theirs, IF they are properly informed about that future, & what choices they have, then they have a chance to make something wonderful out of it.....

I daresay mum is now re-united with all her old freinds & the 15+ dogs she rescued from the streets, who had a long & happy life with her.As did my brothers & myself.

I do feel very priveledged to have known her.....

When i come back i will be giving it all i've got, and i hope, be keeping a lot of people very busy!

Nice descriptive wording Luke, to help us picture  your connection and some of her life.

You will  now relate more to the reflection on her life..

Littleenki

Many a tear for you and yours Luke, and for a beautiful soul such as your mom was!

A poignant display of respect and love for her there mate, you are not alone in this, we all have you in our hearts!

And her love for dogs and animals shows me where you get your great personality from...

Tipping a scotch to her and you now...

Dear Luke,

I am with you in thoughts and prayers,

I lost my mom a few years back, it takes
time to feel better.

Wow, your Mom was quite a person, Luke. Let's all hope they DIDN'T break the mold when they made her.

I'm so sorry for your loss, but so very happy that you and your brothers had the experience of being raised by her. May your grief be short and your peace extended.

I recieved this PM from Littleenki:

QuoteGlad to see you back, Luke! After the last week or two, I am sure you have gone through a lot. Just wanted to say I have been there with you and your family in heart bro, and I wish you and them all the best.

Mom was a cool gal indeed, and it seems she raised a fine young man in you as well!

The path lays awaiting us, glad youve rejoined the mission.

Your friend, Dave

That's beautiful, Dave, thanks :-X

Truth is, the funeral is still 12 days off, & i have nothing to do but wait.....
(You wouldn't believe how slow the system is in england)So i started reading threads again.

I'm also doing a little research, and i have some great threads in mind, you will just have to wait.

Here is a picture of my mum, 'captain of the ship':

The funeral is 27 Feb, Mods feel free to delete this thread after that date.......or maybe we could have an obituary thread for members?
Nah, that may be too depressing for some people...

Amaterasu

What agony, having to wait like that!  My heart is with You and Your family, Luke.  Looking forward to Your threads, and wish there was more I could offer but the cyberhugs.  [hug!!!]

Looking forward to your great threads, and your mom is precious.
What a lovely pic of her, your blessed!

We can come up with perhaps an In Memory thread,
something to discuss.

Thoughts are with you!

One of the biggest problems with online rooms and people using pseudonyms is that when something happens, the rest have no idea where they went. I see nothing wrong having a section to make notes like obits and illnesses.  There were many friends at ATS that simply vanished, not a word and no email to inquire.  Pimander, last I heard from him several weeks ago was recovering from severe Pneumonia. Haven't heard back since

Again condolences on your loss. be well my friend

Again, thanks, i appreciate it.
Nothing to do now but wait, so i'm just reading.I will be offline next week for a while when i see the family...
For the record Z, if i don't ever come back online, assume the worst & open all my forums to the public, & dump all my Peggy files online. That will keep a few people busy ;)
