Why do you insist that it has to be completely either/or, Zorgon?  If you had actually bothered to listen to me, rather than railing at me as a convenient scapegoat for those who commit acts which I have repeatedly emphasised that I do not condone, you would know that the Terminator scenario is not something that I want in my own future either.

There's a concept called personal responsibility; perhaps you've heard of it.  Applied to technology, what it means is that no given scenario needs to be completely inevitable.  If we exercise said responsibility, we can make decisions about the ways in which said technology is utilised.

Because that is the inevitable outcome. All it takes is ONE bad hu-mon to make it happen. Utopia never lasts very long, history has shown us this many many times. And since this is the fifth civilization of man.. that means we have wiped ourselves out 4 times before

Yup for a time... but eventually the evil sets in and takes over. Show me ONE idyllic society from our past that wasn't ultimately destroyed?

Well since TAP is supposed to be that every thing is free, unlimited free energy, etc. I would think it would be EASIER to do it under TAP than under normal conditions : Making an army of self replicating self repairing Terminators would be expensive under our system, but be free under yours.

Well there seems to be a firestorm here.

When i was a teenager.1986.i had three jobs at the same time and went to school.
Mcds on weekend mornings making biscuits.steakhouse in the evenings washing dishes and bouncer /projectionist at a movie theater.
now i dont work much at all.reason?
Computers have been taking jobs.immigrants took the rest.
its not profitable to leave the house most of the time.
if robots take the rest then .idle minds are the devils workshop.
Most folks dont have the discipline to handle long periods of idleness.

Also it makes slaves of the system because we wont be able to afford food.
