I'm working on an adjustable 1- 100Kv supply to continue the gravity experiments....

So that's from a blu-ray?
Going to have to raid the city recycling depot i guess.
Better iron my ninja outfit ::)

P.S. If i ever get the time, i will post the complete diy laser steering plans, it's pretty easy. First of all you get a soldering iron, some matrix board, and a couple of 555's, an LM324............

robomont

i think they get those diodes from a projector.bluray may be 405nm.mines 445nm.not a 100% on those detailsit .405 puts off uv.
alot of people make 405s because they burn too but have a pretty purple color in dark.
the diodes are cranked up way past their suggested wattage.like way higher.
one guy cranked up a 405diode to 1000mw.and it didnt die.the guys on lpf were blown away as thats in the impossible realm but it survived.each diode has its own life.may die soon or last for years .
sticking to duty cycles time wise is the best insurance.

Yep, pulse them & they last longer.
It's all about not letting it get too hot.

it should work on cameras and street light sensors.
i havent had the chance to try though.
i had my wife shoot my car from a hundred feet with me in it w safety glasses and it blinded the whole windshield.this was at night.
so it would work good if you work in avoiding a stalker or ending a tale.like for security bodyguard work.

for more distance i think i would go with green though.im thinkin of buying a green next but thats a year out if im lucky.money devoted to project right now.

You can buy cheap green modules from DX and wind them up a bit if your game, they are quite good rely at around $40-$60 each for the higher power ones.

Could you add a link to the site?

Too much going on, ya don't want to know :P

Also check out Amy's latest post in the I F discussion area ;)

Let me know how many magnets you need for that other project ;)

Got to go, reeeely busy, 5 hours sleep & it's pushing 40 degrees here in the daytime, not fun if you have heavy work to do.

But i got a great bonus, i'll post about it soon 8)

I'll see your blue one & raise you 150 watts:

THIS is a YAG diode infra-red engraving laser.
Water cooled, with built in X-Y steering & camera.
Wavelength 1065nM

Very difficult to get more specs on this one, but i've seen them on Ebay for 10-15,000 bucks.

Here a look inside, both the power supply, the diode block and the mirrors are water-cooled ;)

And another pic, sorry the damn camera was on 'auto focus' which means it doesn't focus very well (go figure :P )

First of all i have to re-connect all the wires!
And figure out the steering software........

Still, a big thank-you to Mr. Mitsubishi for kindly donating it to PRC ::)

More to come..........

robomont

omg.wtf.that thing is huge.and powerful.wow.
if you have any problems with getting it running.there is probly somebody over at lpf forums that knows about it.those guys are nuts for all lasers.

super congrats pwm.awesome find.

Yes, and it's not easy to hide from the wife, either :o

She's out for a few days so i can examine it more closely.
Damn thing has fibre optic connections between the modules ::)

I'm really happy about the camera in there, that way i can test it without being in the area 8)

i don't know the beam diameter, but it was used for engraving text onto turbo casings, i think if i leave it in one spot for too long it will burn through the wall..

These modules made by Rofin have 2 modes, pulse & continuous wave (CW).

Pulse is better for cutting when the beam is in one place, because in between pulses gives the vapourised material a chance to move out of the way, i learned that from someone at Harwell who used a CO2 laser to punch through concrete blocks 8)

Oh what fun it must be working for the gubmint :D
First thing i want to do is see if we can engrave the Peggy logo onto stuff ;)
More pics & updates by the weekend......

P.S. 'lpf forums'? Got a link?

I found out which family it is, at least:
QuoteThe Nd:YAG lasers feature high-performance scan heads and are efficiently diode-pumped and designed for industrially reliable 24/7 operation. The PowerLine L 100 SHG uses a high-performance SHG assembly with a harmonic generator crystal for frequency conversion. Q-switching enables peak pulse performance that the company says is 1000 times higher than continuous-wave lasers achieve. The standard configuration includes fiber delivery to the processing head. Optional accessories include fiber outcoupling and scan head assemblies supporting scan speeds of >10 m/s with high precision.

From This site,

This site is a really amazing site for electro info, going straight in the toolbar 8)

Now that's a shame.....

re: YAG-DIREL

Yo esteemed Member PWM:
We could probably get you a contract for targeting dropping old, unused satellites for various entities... not including the military. The tracking software already exists and there is a plethora of garbage that needs tending in NEO.   :P

There also seems to be a booming business in satellite maintenance and repair.    ;)

(Thread in research phase ATM.)

Mayhaps the 'high-climbers' here, RoboPuf and tfw, could teach the 'over-coming fear of heights' portion of that school.   :P
