For sure, with all of the "texting", people are soon going to forget even how to use/talk on a telephone. And a very bad thing about texting, it is very obvious that texting "conversation" takes so much more personal time to complete, with all of the back-and-forth, than does a phone conversation which covers the very same thought transfers. And that is a really sad thing relative to thought for "increasing productivity" in this world of modernization and technology increase.

Its true to some extent why law's were introduced that banned mobile phones whilst driving.  Being someone who commute's about 120km each week on a bicycle I see people on mobile's quite often whilst driving and 'some, not all' are damn well forgetting they are driving over a tonne of metal at speed whilst gabbing on a the phone.   

We are quickly running out of hope for an end the world scenario too

What irks me even more is how proven technique's of mind are being touted as technology.

Brain Mind Interface's are not Telepathy. So why are people so excited over New's item's that Label a Machine Interface as something it's not?  The US MIL have proven that the real telepathy does not need a machine!

The main difference here is that many of those people would have 2 or 3 phones.

Many guys have one for work, one for family and friends and one for the girlfriend(s)
And yes many girls have 2 or more also for the same reasons.......

I only have 1 and often forget it. Guess I am to old. I did like the 2 cans with the wax string idea...Too bad it never took off.

Deuem, the 2 can/wax string idea did do ok for awhile, but, technology just overwhelmed that idea, because the 2 can approach did not adapt. The 2 can basic approach would still be in vogue, had the original design been changed to "4 cans, with 2 cans on each end. With that design, the "hearer" would always be hearing "in stereo". Stereo has been the rage for a long time, and that is certainly my preference, and probably yours also!!

Actually, if Z sees this, he might just turn this into a new product to sell on his website!

But then, there is now another problem for the can approach. "Wireless" is upon us, so, some how even the 4 cans would need to be redesigned, even before the basic design is released, to make accommodation for wireless. Z would probably have to move this over to the research forum for the wireless solution! That is, unless TAP has a free no cost solution on this already!!! I am relatively sure that in a society where everything is free, they will have to use the can/wax string approach, just to keep communications "free"!!

The proof is simple - "married gay couples" do not and cannot together produce children, for the continuance of the "human species". So, the "Society" as we know it will eventually cease to exist - I said, "as we know it"! The more people that become "gaily married", the more that "gay marriage" will infringe upon the basics of the lives of "families" in this country. Just like as with the Boy Scouts now floundering around with trying to somehow accommodate "open gays" in scouting. Yes, that may be the next thing we see being brought up to the SCOTUS.

LOL!  Like...the overturning means more People will "go gay?"  Or that the small increase will somehow create problems for straights that They don't already have???

Love, the only REAL difference is that married People will have the same tax breaks regardless of the gender combo, and married gays can visit Their spouses in hospitals like hetero spouses can.

Oh NOES!  People who love People will get to sit at Their loved One's side in the hospital!  Heh.

On the other hand, some people, if not many, will utilize texting to "stay in contact" with others, more-so than they do or would do with just the telephone. So, the smart phones are not completely negative.

Then, if we take into account the vast /almost unlimited capabilities of the smart phones into nearly aspect of our lives, we should know that very very soon, they will be nearly more important to us, than is any other "tool" we have in our lives. Medical stuff with smart phones is just beginning to reach the point of creating entirely new avenues for patient care and treatment.

One other trend happening is that more and more we are seeing mainstream media viewers dwindling as more and more people can instantly access a variety of trusted news sites and avoid television...not that texting while watching TV counts as watching.

Ducks Unlimited did a Study in Winnipeg years ago on why Mallard Duck turn gay...

We should now expect to see more and more such associated actions coming to and being decided by the SCOTUS, for the benefit of the few human beings with GENDER RELATED PROBLEMS - and yes, that is what it is -  that will again and again infringe upon the basic foundations of what has helped make a great society in this country.

Love and consideration of all is what is right, but to make decisions that go against the foundations of what is "existentially normal life" is simply just wrong. 

Say Bye bye to this great society, as we start looking for the  real "hell in a hand basket" to come!!

The reason the mainstream push marriage as a prefered option is just another control construct.
So they can nail you into the system with a mortage and numerous bank accounts, and insurance policies. So youl stay put and numb and belive what they are telling you.
