And about the "shill" points.  Not sure I favor that, as, like gold, there are many things that might prompt a "donation."  Plus, it discourages People who are NOT shills, but someOne else smacked Them with a shill tag, and so They are more likely to say, "Forget this!  I'm going to ATS!"

So Sarge, I would think the average age is over 40 if not maybe over 45. Heck, my kid does not even know how to type. Everything with young people is either a joystick or mouse. Most of them don't even have an idea what email is. I face this all the time here.The phone does all the work. With the exception of a few like Robo, who wants to type on a phone. So many of the newbies might just be doing the Robo deal and just reading.

Any newbies want to chime in with a simple yes or no.  Yes Phone, No computer.

Are we phone frendly?  Robo? My screen is wider than my keyboard. I don't know what I would do with a 6 inch screen. Most likely just read. On Monday I will ask my kid to fire up th Android and see if I can ge in on the Wifi to take a peek.

On my wifes phone all they do now is post voice messages to each other or groups. They don't even bother to call each other anymore. And what is real funny is that they will go back and forth with this live. I can see leaving a note. But live voice posts are funny to listen to. But they can listen to what they said first and do it over. That you can't do live.

I am not seeing a lot of newbies post and wondering why. Are we too tough, Too soft or what. The site has opened up a lot but they still are not posting. If this is just one road block, i think we should ask Ron to smooth it out.

Couple things come to mind

1) Our good stuff is not in the public eye... because we wanted to keep the BS and idle chit chat out of those threads. On the flip side, not as many members as expected are adding to the good stuff and many of the contributing staff have left... Exuberant1, Russo, Dood... to name a few.  These people were thread makers

2) The recent post list tends yo get dominated by gloom and doom porn. I still need to figure out how to make a subscribed thread list

3) Back at ATS in John's mega moon anomaly thread there were literally hundreds of THOUSANDS of viewers. But if you add up the posters  I would say maybe 30ish regulars and a few occasional pop ins

MOST people will read. Since ATS had a rule against "Oh my god cool post" type posts  and since few people have the skills or patience to add NEW material to the thread... you get few people posting


4)  I still have to find out from newbies IF they are having trouble posting after signing up. Perhaps we need to make it mandatory somehow that they must post after signing up, at least to say HI  so we can see if they did more than log in, That way we can catch them and ask them what they are looking for. Since they cannot see the good stuff until they are granted access... they may not even know its there

5) Pimander made a point about the old forum  that there are members over there. I actually forgot about it because I posted a redirect page saying we are all over here   But that forum has no admin access. I will have to go have a look

We might have to make an email list of all new members and send them an email that is not automated. Maybe create a form letter explaining how it works here and asking them to tell us what they are looking for... with a list of options available

No, it's not   One solution would be to buy a professional forum and transfer the data... but those are based on price per number of members. We did kick around a small member fee... that way you would at least know who is serious

We need a weekly news letter.... going to set that up on the website itself  A signup, a search engine and subscribe button should work  but I would need to redo the ENTIRE site from scratch and I have been procrastinating on that as it is a HUGE task

The reason i ask is i think post should stay but membership deleted.
Just call it my quirk but its frustrating to see all the lost members.most i dont even know.are they bots or what.maybe its been changed.i havent looked in a while.

Oh i wish i had a six inch screen.im typing this on a 4 x 3.
So far my dauter likes her slider not droid and is a text nut.250+- text a day.we joked about how some plans are 250 text a month.

There is also another factor that I have noticed on Facebook...

The VAST MAJORITY of conspiracy folkes and the UFO believer crowd have ALREADY MADE UP THEIR MINDS

FB is full of people that think they are Pleiadians, Star Children, Indigo kids... abducted every night and are 'experiencers'

When you get down to it they all turn out to be wannabe's and dreamers  and if you try to inject reality you get the boot

There are a few researchers  like in the Chemtrail department...  but they will mx the good reports with pictures of natural clouds and claim HAARP did it or the evil gubment sprayers did it.

On facebook they are king... can say what they want and are guaranteed followers. This boosts there ego and soon they post more crap than truth because that is what the audience 'likes'

When they come here and see we actually analyse stuff and might actually debunk some of their pet beliefs... they scurry like cock roaches when the light comes on

Then there are the "Light Workers"  not the few real ones that are actually doing something, but all the wannabe new age crowd that say Namaste every post like they even know what it means   These type are the opposite of doom porners  because they take credit for every doom that DIDN'T happen... and say "See? Us Light Workers prevented this..."

Posts are set NOT to auto delete except "moved thread" notices that delete after 30 days

Inactive members are set to delete after 120 days but never checked to see if that is working right

There is still a banner that says "Warning someone posted while you were typing, you might want to review your post"

The "120 day since last posted" is now turned off

I wish we could come up with a recruiting strategy.

two ways

1) open the doors like GLP or ATS and get 90% posters have no value  or
2) actively go invite good people.

Been working on 2) at facebook, but its not working because all the good posters are busy elsewhere and looking at replies of the rest, well do we really want the morons?

But it wouldn't need to be much to start. I was planning once to tackle the revamp of the website is as I update a topic... to send an email saying "Here is topic so and so.... we will take discussion on this topic this week at the forum"

Thing is with chat   comes down to time...

I don't use skype and use pidgeon ONLY for admin chats  and even that limited chat takes time. When chatting you get on other topics and loose time. If just 1000 members are chatting all the time you would never see the posts as they would fly by too fast like Facebook

Since you see ALL public posts on Facebook... it means that very few people are posting publicly on facebook  because if the millions posted stuff daily you would never catch anything

Best thin I can do is make the library threads on the actual website and then link to a discussion forum thread form there. At least if its on the website others can see it and then get a direct link to the discussion

If its a private room, a note on the website link can say "You must have permission to access this topic"

But all that takes HUGE amounts of time.  Maybe in January I can hire someone to do the web revamp as I am expecting a little cash from an auction

Theres a price to pay for sifted wheat versus unsifted.i say open it up but have different gates .the gates are opened by you and admins .not mods.i think they joke at lop and atx  about 10,000 post member club.peg  is sorta like that.these gates go to privaate chat rooms or direct link to chatrooms.preferably yours.for admin.mods.just friends.but the main screen is insain.go for broke.its about making money and your friends will be here too.if you can afford to.i do like your amazon link.i just keep forgetting to use it.its needs to be at the top in your face kinda but with better graphics to make it look like we officially approve."amazon official sponsor of pegasus"pegasus and amazon in bold snazzy lettering.

Most folks get sent to the other guys because they have more subject matter.mostly on current events.thats what most search for.if we hit with stories first then peg rating goes up fastest.we can generate news as we members are spread out and sometimes get leads quicker than the msm.
Last night willy nelsons bus wrecked down the road a few miles from me.local news had it first.i could have posted it on peg and got you loads of hits.i just dont want to corrupt peg until you open the gates.plus it would keep me here longer as there is more subject matter.you may need to get fiber if you do this though.lol.if we do it right though i could see you making some serious cash.blowing the competition out of the water would be easy from what ive seen.hell start a news company.lets go after the big dogs.
