Helping the poor with birth control because having 6-8-10 children makes it difficult to break out of poverty isn't eugenics.  It's called responsible family planning.  I like how the author uses the intentional fallacy of assuming birth control is entirely seperate from family planning.  Or is that something we rich first world overlords are supposed to be keeping to ourselves?

isn't there a better solution?  i mean in countries where quality of life is higher, people don't have as many children, naturally.  not because they've aborted but because they were educated and given a chance to thrive.

Egg and chicken.  Do we have a better quality of life because we have fewer children?  Do we have fewer children because we have a better qualitry of life?  Which comes first?

It seems what is going on is cheap prophylactic birth control.  Then out of nowhere the author throws out the abortion issue and "Mrs. Gates and her partners, which include the world's largest abortion providers" to ramp up the fear mongering, yet he provides no support or background to that accusation of if it's really at play in the story at all.  Yet he threw it out there to raise hackles and turn opinion.  (Melinda Gates donates to Planned Parenthood(among many health care organizations), which as one piece of their practice provides abortions.)

If we're talking about simple BC pills and contraceptive items, it's a no brainer for me.  Do it.  With fewer kids you can provide better to each kid, help them live better than you did.  Move them forward.  Every parent wants that.

I think my issue with the article is I dislike blatient bias and obvious agenda.  The author has no interest in a fair and balanced presentation of what's going on.  It's an editorial opinion piece, which is fine.  It was just so heavily skewed it lost credability with me.  It was like reading something from the NSA saying "We're here to protect you."

Bill hates competition :P

He managed to wipe out Commodore, IBM & many others, and by not releasing the source codes for his software, the chip makers could only provide a limited instruction set. This left almost all P.C. makers at his mercy, except Mac, who somehow survived, because Steve Jobs was just as brilliant...

Only now are peeps writing other OS's for the PC, and quite right too i hate bloody crippleware :P

Right on, Undo, him & his eugenecist buddies creep me out.
I guess their plan is to save some resources for his future 'family' of perfect peeps, so they need to depoulate the world, and fast!

No, Z i don't think he will donate a single cent to help us find REAL solutions :o

But we could try (Sir) Richard Branson, seems like a nice chap ::)
We could help him get into space, for a start 8)

How is that?

No, because Steve Jobs hated competition, that's why he ended the official clones program, Umax was making better and cheaper computers than Apple.

apple has targetted the mobile phone market, which saved it methinks.

"Nature is red, in tooth, in claw." And so is business.  If you can't keep up, you fall behind, you get crushed and lost to time.

I started out as a Mac fanboy in the mid-1980s.  I slowly gravitated to PCs.  Jobs was brilliant in so far that he was visionary.  He saw the tradeoff of versitility vs. useability and went with the latter.  The overwheming number of us use our technology for rather simple stuff.  He went with that and it was a smart move.

I will throw out Steve Jobs was no Saint.  He played the game just as dirty as he needed to go.

Oh sure, i agree.

What i meant Armap, is that he's selling an operating system that is outdated in it's very roots, and even then, no-one exactly knows how it works, least of all the chip makers. That limits their ability to make the chip better.

Amiga's use an asynchronous clock system, this means that peripherals like mouse keyboard screen etc are handled by custom processors, leaving the processor to just get on with the actual math rather than stopping to update the mouse pointer, or accept an incoming message on the net, etc etc.

This makes it 10 times faster than any DOS based system, my old 1200 boots up, fully functional, in 56 seconds flat, turning it off is even quicker ;D

It's a killer on the net, can generate a million of IP's in a second, and that's why they were banned in the U.S.

Anyway, yes i would probably do the same if i was one of them 'successful' types :P
Thank the gods i'm not :D hey can't we sue Gates for fraud in some way? get him to pay everyone their Windoze money back 8)

What money?  ;D

WarToad

You beat me to it ArMaP.  I was going to ask "what fraud"?  If you don't like what's being sold, don't buy it.

PLAYSWITHMACHINES

You know how much he gets in license fees from companies using his software?
LOTS

And yes i had to buy this version of Windoze because it was not available here >:(

There are plenty of programmers who can and do, devise their own systems, but then they are still hamstringed by the dos structure of Windoze, which you can't even get to look at.
Who knows what other extra progs are running there?

That's why i threw out Chrome, cos it's full of tracking cookies, and it's not just to collect data for advertising ;)

Now if you had the source code, you can take the program apart, examine it, change it etc.
Like Android 8)

Could you be more specific about that DOS structure are you talking about?

So...  You truly believe Billy is trying to "help out Humanity?"  Really?  I guess if One defines "helping Humanity" as helping the "elite" stunt it, damage it, make it ill, suck money from it, then, yeah.  He's helping.

But if the crippling "vaccines" He purveys in India are a measure of "helping" in the sense of uplifting, curing, freeing, respecting...  Then efforts to "plan families," as opposed to providing opportunities, can be seen for what it is.

At some point Eugenics will have to be renamed after Gates....Eugenics 2.0 perhaps?
